4 Engine Stall problem of the 2009 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/22/2017

Engine completely stalled four separate times while driving on freeway at freeway speeds. Without warning, totally lost power and had to coast to the emergency lane. At first, engine would restart, cough and sputter, then die. After about ten minutes, however, it restarted like normal and it was like nothing happened. Drove fine for months until it happened again. And again. And again. This started occurring when the vehicle had about 85,000 miles. Took vehicle to dealer after last incident (about 95,000 miles) and they said they ran complete diagnostic tests, but could not find the problem. Advised me to have vehicle brought in next time it stalls (but the problem appears to be transitory). I am afraid to drive the car on the freeway and consider myself lucky I didn't get rear-ended.

7 Engine Stall problem of the 2010 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 01/18/2013

There are two issues involved. Engine stalling and trouble starting. The engine stalled at low speed on multiple occasions. There were no indicators, the engine just cut out in the middle of driving. When traveling at higher speed, engine would stutter (dash indicators would quickly come on and then disappear. ) the other issue is trouble starting. Sometimes when ignition switch is turned, it would not do anything. When it happens the only thing noticeable is the gear indicator shows blank (normally show 'p' for park). Sometimes the starter would crank and engine would start but only run for 1-2 seconds before stalling again. When it happens, pressing down the gas pedal while turning ignition switch would normally resolve the problem.
