38 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 05/27/2010

2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Consumer states problem with check engine light and a. I. R. Pump the consumer stated the air conditioner failed and was blowing out hot air on the passenger side and cold air on the drivers' side. The wheels were no good. The plating on the inside would come off and create problems for the tires sealing properly, therefore an uneven wear occurred. The consumer also stated he began to have steering problems, there were several lights coming on the dash and going off, but the dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. The consumer began to investigate and discovered the part that was causing the lights to illuminate was the hydraulic brake modulator which cost $1,000. The transmission would shift hard at times and sometimes whine while driving. The turn signals did not always work or they would shut off while blinking. When the cruise control was activated, and the turn signal or head lights were activated the cruise control would deactivate by itself. The rear passenger window stopped working and the sway bar was cracked. Also, the gas pedal would stick at times. The heated seats were too cool on low and too hot on high.

39 Electrical System problem of the 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

Signal lights started causing problems approx. 5 years ago. Blowing bulbs, working some time but not all the time. Bulb sockets overheating and melting. Replaced front headlight assembly right and left. Not the problem. Still have same problem. They will stop working, one side at the time and for no rational reason will start again as if a short in the electrical system. Running lights work part of time. We have replaced a ton of bulbs but to no avail. Can someone on this earth please tell me where the switches are located in the electrical system so this vehicle can be repaired. So far, no luck in this effort. My car only has 330,000 miles plus and so far this is all that is wrong.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue

2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Problem starting the car. Key will not turn, I believe the problem is with the security system recognizing the key. I have paid to have a new key coded and this still does not start the vehicle. Dealer looking to charge several hundreds of dollars to fix.

42 Electrical System problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 11/15/2009

We purchased a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue in October of 2009. Within just a few weeks, we began experiencing difficulty with the passlock security system. Our keys were not being recognized. This resulted in periodic stalling, sometimes while trying to get through an intersection. The problem has gotten so bad that we are unable to start the car at all. Many people are experiencing this same problem. Please make gm pay for this repair.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 09/10/2009

The 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue randomly does not start and sometimes leaves the family stranded. After 30 minutes or so of waiting, it may start right up. It has taken up to a day to restart. It started within a couple years of purchase, but has getting worse as time goes on. Randomly occurs 1 to 2 times per week. The dealers have not been able to find a problem.

44 Electrical System problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 07/20/2009

I received a letter in may stating that gm was recalling my car for possible engine fires (recall 09047). I called the number provided and was routed to one of the local dealers, who told me that they couldn't do anything with it until late July or August and to call back for an appointment then. Yesterday, 7/20/09, my car burned to a crisp. According to the firemen, it was an electrical fire that started under the hood somewhere and it burned so hot and so fast that they were unable to salvage it. The fire engines are kept literally a block away from where the fire occurred. They responded within minutes and still the entire engine contents fried right up. My car is a total loss. Today I have spent just over two hours on the phone with gm customer service, I have had to escalate the calls twice and call back to them twice and once to the local dealer and all anyone will say is they will contact me within 5 business days and to save the vehicle so they can investigate it. I have nowhere to store this car in it's current state. It is a major fire hazard-especially with our current warm weather/dry conditions and it's full tank of gas. Gm informed me that if I make the decision to have it moved to a junk yard to take lots of pictures before that happens. I informed them that I cannot keep the vehicle here, due to it's fire hazard to the other residents on my block-their half a million dollar homes and their vehicles that are parked in the same area.

45 Electrical System problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

Car refuses to start, leaving driver helpless. Occurs intermittently without warning (more frequently over time). Research on internet identifies this as a common problem with gm passlock. Although a common problem it is unclear what the problem really is - seems the solution is to have the system replaced by the dealer. This is extremely dangerous to a vulnerable person dependent upon the automobile.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 06/10/2009

The contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. The contact stated that she experienced recurring failures with the electrical system. When the hazards lights are turned on the driver's side rear window opened. The headlights intermittently turned off while driving various speeds. When the cruise control was activated, the cruise control buttons became extremely hot. The front passenger side window also intermittently malfunctions. The oil change service light shuts on and off when the vehicle does not need an oil change. The contact stated that the engine warning light intermittently turns on and off. The failures had not been diagnosed by the dealer. The failure mileage was 76,000 and the current mileage was 93,000.

48 Electrical System problem of the 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue

50 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 08/06/2007

We have and Oldsmobile Intrigue 2001 was purchased in 2002. It was only used as dealer car. Since buying it we have had problems with dimming headlights intermittent, turn signals work when they want, brakes that grind and pulsate, vibration from right front side. We have had rotors replaced, tie rods, brake pads, still nothing works the dealer tells me there are no recalls on these items. We also had a problem with the secondary air pump we replaced it not a few weeks later it went out again. We have had no success with this cars problems.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 08/01/2007

I noticed the headlights dimming on their own about a week after I first started driving the vehicle. It occurs intermittently, and very often. I have heard the headlights switching into different modes like this both a night and during the daytime hours. This poses a serious distraction to oncoming traffic on highways and other roads and could confuse other drivers at stop signs. Gm should address this issue immediately; I have seen many other complaints on this very same issue. [note: I believe this issue may also be linked to a serious issue with the turn signal relay system. I have had intermittent blinker issues and failures on both passenger and driver side since 2010, and it does not appear that the replacement of the turn signal relay system solves the problem, it did not for me (filed separate complaint for turn signal issues experienced)].

52 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 07/15/2007

Clunking noise in steering column; headlights dim on a whim; blinkers work when they feel like it; hazard lights fail intermittently; driver's electric window locks up in the closed position intermittently and last be not least transmission whines and clucks when shifting gears--intermittently of course. On going for last 3 years.

53 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 11/27/2006

Turn signal failure on a daily basis. I drive on a highway 80 miles a day. The turn signals may blink rapidly, normally, or not work at all. This can all occur within a few miles. However, when I took them to a repair shop, they could not duplicate the problem. This has been going on for over a year. I have also had to replace the air pump that pumps air into the emissions system twice, and it is still having problems. The car runs fine, but the engine light is on all the time. I also have the problem with the dimming lights which is caused by the air pump switching on and off.

54 Electrical System problem of the 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 10/20/2006

Turn signals are intermittent. Sometimes they do not flash when the turn signal switch is activated. This applies to both left and right. This occurs randomly on different days, not just the single date I was forced to enter.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 10/09/2005

2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Problem starting the car. Intermittent. Sometimes it happens weekly. Sometimes a couple of times a day. I believe the problem is with the security system recognizing the key. I have to work with the key for 10-15 minutes until it finally recognizes the key and starts.

56 Electrical System problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 08/23/2005

1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue. While driving at any speed the vehicle stalled. The dashboard lights came on only after the car stalled. Had coast to the side of the road, tried several times to restart vehicle. It finally restarted. After several days vehicle stalled again. Had the car on diagnostic test and they could not duplicate the problem or find anything anything wrong. Diagnostic test was done twice. Replaced all the gaskets, the brain box, fuel filter. 58 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Failure Date: 06/12/2005

Communication failure from main computer causes car to stall and sometimes not even start as well as a/c heater and cruise control works once and a while. Contacted dealer and was told a person from the services dept would call me back. They didn't. Talked to another person and told then about the car stalling and not starting and they told me that it was either the fuel filter or the fuel pump. Replace fuel filter, didn't help checked fuel pump but it was working just fine. The car has stalled out on the highway many times and has but my life as well as my childrens lifes in danger. When it dies the power steering and power brakes do not respond. Just today I had a basic computer scan done which told me the problem. The place that did the test informed me that is the #1 problem with the Oldsmobile from 1997-2001. I was also informed that gm is aware of this problem, but they wont do anything until a death results from it. Gm needs to step up and fix these problems. This is also a problem with the alero's (2000 model).

Blinkers have failed. At first, only the left side would work. Now, both sides have failed. The front and rear bulbs as well as the sockets are functional. The flasher module was replaced, but did not remedy the situation. The hazard flashers work normally, however. Right now, I have no way of alerting other drivers of my intentions.
