1 Underhood Wiring problem of the 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 10/26/2005

Headlights dim sharply in cold weather or traveling in wet conditions. If I hit a puddle in the road this will happen also or I might lose them all together, for about 30 seconds. This seems to be from insufficient insulating of wire harness. Could cause a fire or severe accident, especially if traveling on a highway.

2 Underhood Wiring problem of the 2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 08/29/2003

My 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager's engine burst into flames and almost the whole front end of my car, including my dash board and part of my front seats were burned up. The windshield and the windows on the passenger and driver's side in the front blew out. I suffered from smoke inhalation and did end up going to the emergency room. I also have pulled something in my back and arms that has made my arms from the elbows to the hands go painfully numb and prickly. In addition, I seemed to have caused a hemorrage in my uterus. My period is not due for about a week or a bit more. It is labor day weekend and I haven't been able to see a regular doctor yet. I actually have called the dealer where I purchased the vehicle and they say there aren't any recalls on 2000 Grand Voyager, they also said they wouldn't sell any vehicle that hadn't had the recall issue taken care of before being put on the lot--also, when I checked on the daimlerchrysler website and put the requested section of VIN numbers into their little checkup box--it said--"no incomplete recalls or customer satisfaction notifications exist. "--I have checked the internet in several places before I found this site and found that 2000 Grand Voyagers with 3. 3 l. Engines were part of the recall!!!! the first thing I saw when I stopped the car because of all the smoke was something dripping in flames from the front of the bottom of the engine.

3 Underhood Wiring problem of the 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 10/01/2002

About 5-6 weeks ago, the air bag warning light on the dashboard display went on, and it has been on continuously since then. 2 weeks ago we noticed that the cruise control wasn't working, and in the past week, the horn stopped working. We saw a notice of recall in the business section of the washington post, but we did not receive anything from daimler-Chrysler. We contacted darcars of silver spring, MD, and they told us that there was no recall for our model and year, and that the repair would cost about $225-$250. Today, we did an internet search and learned of the widespread nature of the problem, and of daimler-Chrysler's refusal to reimburse owners of vehicles such as ours for this acknowledged failure of a critical part. We do not have working air bags, horn or cruise control, and we urge you to expedite your investigation of this defect and widen the recall, requiring the manufacturer to reimburse us. Dt.

Took to dealer 1st time & had map sensor replaced. 2nd time throttle sensor was replaced. 3rd time control module. 4th time mechanic took engine apart & found wires under the hood had melted together & all the electrical wires needed replacing. 13 Underhood Wiring problem of the 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 06/02/1997

Minivan lost all power (first noticed power steering) while driving down highway. Occurred first in June 1997 and they replaced the master switch (three days earlier they had replaced the multifunction switch because the windshield wipers came on on their own). The windshield wipers are coming on on their own again (intermittently) and we lost all power driving down the road again (9/20/99). Was able to turn off into a parking lot however, without power steering - if this occurred on a busy highway or in the middle of a turn it could result in someone crashing into us. Two months after they replaced the master switch they replaced the rack n pinion and steering shaft & coupling (8/4/97). We haven't had any more problems with the steering except when we lost all power.
