Have taken car for repairs three times to dealer bertera Chrysler for the same problem, which is the automatic transmission. Each time I try to get it fix I explained to the mechenic that the transmission is slipping. The first time I took the van for repair on 10/18/00 I explained to the manager the transmision was slipping and smoke was coming out of the botton of the van, there return me the vehicle the next day saying nothing was wrong with the tranny. The second time was on 12/29/00 I took the van back to the dealer for the same problem transmission slipping they replied other things where wrong with the van and charge 53. 00 for repairs on the van and said they adjust the tranny, but could not find any problems of why my van would bang into gear when at celerated suppose one mechanic took van for drive and still no problem . So then I took my van back for the third time for the same problem on transmission and told the mechenic it started to happen again ,the transmission started to slip and smoke from the botton of the van so I polite ask asked the manager to please put in a new one that this is my third time coming back for the same problem. There reply was we'll take alook at it then again they adjusted it but never opened up the transmission to look inside of it . Now the transmissions is completely broken and then they decide to look inside of it and found burned oil and pieces of metal in fluid and needs replacement now that warranty expired by 1003 miles . So my complaints is that they never really checked the transmission from the inside each time I brought it in for repairs they never anything to the inside of the tranny , they adjust bands on tranny till warranty expired. Now I can't make payments to the bank and fix the van at the same time please notify me if you can help me with my problem against bertera Chrysler dealer ship or what are my options in these situation. Thank you very much avery tired and angry comsumer angelica jimenez.

The transmission started slipping at 26,000 miles and at times, somewhat jerking into gear. The problem appeared to be worse when the car was cold and when you were shifting into higher gears, it wasn't as noticeable on downshifting. The problem was supposedly fixed but reappeared in less than 20,000 miles. The problem wasn't as noticeable the second time and we thought maybe it just needed an adjustment. We were informed that there was metal in the transmission fluid and the whole transmission had to be replaced. The van is a low mileage vehicle with easy town and highway driving miles and the vehicle has never towed anything. The vehicle appeared to have a factory installed defective unreliable transmission.
Transmission failed on this vehicle. Van would not move forward or backward. I have another 98 Plymouth Voyager that is also used as a delivery van and it is experiencing some of thesame traits as this one. It will hesitate when put into gear and sometimes slip when starting from a stopped position. This is exactly what the van that has been fixed was doing. Chrysler paid for the parts on the van and I paid for labor. There appears to be some bulletins already on the books that pertain to these problems with the transmission.

Transmission kept slipping and dealer was contacted . Dealer stated that the oil was not proper. In addition, the engine check light kept coming on. Transmission keeps on jumping into gear, and takes 15-20 minutes to go into reverse. Dealer cannot duplicate the problem at this point.
