1 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 03/30/2013

We had problems before March 30, they were still under warranty. Sadly, the dealer never told us we would be stiffed with time in certified gm pre-owned warranty nor any of the issues we have had. Got car may 2011 and has been in and out of shops since approximately September of 2011. We have replaced sway bar links 3 times in less than 1 1/2 years. Tires, battery, windshield wiper motor linkage, electrical issues, replaced driver side air bag. The kicker was the transmission on March 30 2013 while husband was deployed. Had both of my children in the car when it just stopped- on the road. Had it towed to davidson in watertown NY. Diagnostic done 4/1/13 revealed 4 codes from tranny, had to remove it to test further. We have never received any recall info at any pint since 2011; most of them seem to be listed under 2008; we have no idea haow we would have known about them, or if the issues have ever been fixed. The tranny went right after power train warranty conveniently expired- it was the 3-5 wave plate , which I just read on internet was a recall. Gm case manager , daniel, was supposedly trying to assist me. He also was in contact with chris, service manager @ davidson. As soon as they knew I had a loan secured for 4000. 00 , no one could help all of the sudden! I was told by gm that I would get help with cost; either certificate with smaller amount for trade in, or 30% of repair cost. I said repair cost to lower my loan. Then neither would help me and both became unprofessional. I have sent letters to gm with no response. Also, I had to pay for rental car. It is noted that clutch spring and piston also damaged. I feel that we were given this car under false pretenses as far as safety and being gm certified pre-owned. Multiple issues. The dealership had to know these issues, prior to scamming us, to make this car certified gm advertised!!.

2 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2005 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 08/15/2008

Manual transmission on 2005 Saturn Vue 4 cyl failed at about 50,000 miles. Lost the clutch pedal and could not shift the car at all. Occurred while driving on the expressway. Got it to the dealer for repair and they knew exactly what the problem was. Slave unit failed, which also caused the clutch to be replaced. Paid about $1800. 00 for the repaid and Saturn would not acknowledge that they have transmission problems with their cars. Doing some research on the internet I found that there is a long history of transmission failures and suspension failures on the cars. I am not experiencing more transmission issues and suspension problems. I feel that Saturn/gm is aware of defective parts in their cars and refuse to make the proper repairs needed.

3 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2004 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 05/15/2005

Driver had the vehicle’s cruise turned on most of the trip, with a speedometer reading of 67-72mph. Around tomah, wisconsin, the driver planned to exit/attempted to turn off the vehicle’s cruise. Driver depressed the cruise button to turn off the cruise, the no response. The driver went to depress/engage the clutch, and found that the clutch was stuck and did not respond/waited a few seconds, tried the clutch again, this time getting a response. Driver’s trip continued (with the cruise on) and traffic was congested. The driver had slowed the vehicle down using the cruise & remembers a speedometer reading of 60mph. Tried to turn off the cruise button. The cruise failed to respond or shut off as she used her left foot to engage/push in the clutch with absolutely no response. Driver immediately put her foot on the brake. No response. Both the clutch and the brake pedal were locked/stuck and did not respond to the application of pressure applied by the driver’s feet. Driver tried to use both feet on the brakes -no response. Neither the clutch or brakes responded. Driver swerved to the left and the vehicle spun across the highway as the driver applied pressure to the brakes and grasped the wheel. The vehicle traveled off the road and into the ground on the right side of the highway. The went through a ditch & recalls front end hitting an embankment and the vehicle then began a series of flips and rolls. After hitting the embankment with the front end of her car, the passenger or right hand side of the vehicle slammed into something (utility pole) and began an upside down flip that continued with at least three rolls. At the conclusion of the series of rolls, the driver landed upside down before the car flipped again and landed right sight up, with the front end facing the highway. Airbags did not deploy.
