1 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 04/14/2014

My '08 Vue will not longer shift into reverse. The transmission handle does physically go into the reverse detent but the gears do not engage and the vehicle does not move. Depressing the accelerator only increases the engine rpms. The first indication of a problem was some stuttering in reverse two days ago. There didn't seem to be any issues with the forward gears. Today, the transmission reverse gear will not engage. This seems to be a common problem with the gm/for 6t70 6spd transmission reverse gear wave plate. A quick google search revealed that virtually every gm brand that uses the transmission has the exact same issue. This seems to be a well known and well documented problem, a recall should be made. A TSB already exists for the issue, please refer to TSB #09-07-30-012b.

4 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 08/27/2011

On the 27th of August 2011 the power train (vti transmission) quit working. I was at a traffic light and had applied my brakes, when the light turned green the vti transmission would not engage. I was left stranded with only reverse. Saturn had issued a vti transmission letter several years befor that stated they knew their was a defect with the vti transmission and all transmission work would be 100% covered. Now the new owner of gm states he dosen't have to honor that vti transmission letter. Since that incedent the vti transmission has gone out three more times.

5 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 12/01/2007

2003 Saturn Vue, awd, v6,upon pulling out of intersection, accelerating, automatic transmission not up shifting on accelerating. Loss of power. Engine accels but vehicle movement slows. Transmission does not engage. Dealership states that the computer needs to be "dummied up". Vehicle is not use to a different driver. Can not pull out of intersection fast. Good car for very very slow person. . Not "vti" transmission. Dealership has dummied up computer many times. Seems to help for a while but after a while we are just use to acceleration slow to let the transmission shift before applying additional gas pedal. Rear drive unit grinding on turning. Dealer states that this a known problem and has a "kit" ready with all parts needed to make the repairs in the rear end unit. Price is over $1000. 00. . . I was not reimbursed for any costs. Failure on rear unit occurred at 70,000 miles. Vehicle purchased new and my wife drove, till 75,000 miles. Now I am driving the Vue and I would like to accelerate a little more quickly out of some intersection. Spark plug failed at 50,000 miles. They are to last to 100,000 miles. Very expensive repair to replace the spark plug, have to tear off the top end of intake manifold to get to it. Many expensive replacement gaskets had to be replaced and the labor also. I used my personal certified mechanic to save some money. Bad design.

6 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 06/16/2006

The vti transmission in my 2003 Saturn Vue has failed repeatedly and without warning, usually on highways at high speeds. Suddenly, the transmission will disengage and the car cannot be driven. Saturn has now fixed the problem five times in 38,000 miles and most recently admitted that it did not know why this failure occurred and did not know if the repairs it made would fix the problem. The incident date noted below is the most recent date this occurred. When these incidents occur, sometimes the transmission will reset after turning the car off and restarting it. But other times, the vehicle has required towing to the dealership. We are concerned about the ongoing safety and reliability of this car, as the consequences of one of these unannounced failures could be catastrophic. So far, we have been lucky that no injury or accident has occurred.

7 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 05/08/2004

Normal drive about 45 mph on 4 lane highway. With no notice the transmission seemed to disengage. We had power and stepping on the gas made plenty of reve but we were not going anywhere. Luckily the car had enough momentum to get to the side of the road. No accidents today, but if I had been on my way to work using the washington DC capital beltway we may not have been so lucky.

8 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 03/12/2003

Transmission disengages and looses power. This causes the vehicle to decelerate to a complete stop. This occurs when vehicle goes over a bump or an imperfection in the road while accelerating. Although the dealership is aware of the failure a remedy has not been found.

9 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 Saturn VUE

Consumer stated after shifting gear into drive while going down hill transmission would not engage. Dealer had been contacted.
