1 Oil Pump problem of the 2006 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 12/15/2013

I was driving along in my Subaru Impreza wrx sti at approx. 45 mph when my car had the oil light, check engine light, and cruise control light (flashing) come on. When I towed the car to the dealer to be inspected they found the oil pickup tube was broken in two pieces near the oil pump starving the engine/turbo of oil, causing catastrophic engine failure. The vehicle will need an entire new engine (long block) and likely a new turbo. After doing some research I have found this to be a very frequent issue and hopefully will be addressed ASAP. From my understanding, Subaru is still having these failures in the newer model cars also.

2 Oil Pump problem of the 2006 Subaru Impreza

Oil pump pickup tube fractured, causing no oil pressure in engine, and possibly could have caused catastrophic failure, loss of control of vehicle.
