Transmission went at 154000 miles extended warranty not sure if I was taken care or and needed to by new one. If it is gonna be a continuous problem they should have bought back the years with the cvt issue. You can put into drive reverse and park but won't switch gears and just revs.

My cars break lights are not working. My car will lose power on the road to where it will completely die and I have to turn the ignition off and turn it back on to keep going. My emergency brake light is on my tire sensor lights are on even though tire pressure is correct there are times when I cannot get my car into gear. It will make a very loud clunking noise and then a whizzing noise when you turn the air conditioner on and then you get no power at all to the car. I cannot go up a steep hill on the highway because it will only go up to 35 miles an hour. When it loses power on the highway and I have to the restart the car that's very dangerous.
The firewall prevents the vehicle from engaging in gears while driving.

Key gets stuck in vehicle ignition when the vehicle is placed into park. Some sort of component that tells the car it is parked is malfunctioning. This does not happen every time but probably about 50% of the time. Placing the car into gear and then back into park eventually fixes the issue, but it often takes multiple attempts. This started happening after adjusting the steering wheel for another driver. It has subsequently been an issue.

Cvt failing which is a common issue with the a/t. I feel it can lead to a serious safety issue as I travel far and frequently. I will not allow my children to ride in the vehicle as this should be recalled and replaced or repaired.
Smoke and oil burning smell entering cabin through vents. I have two young children. I’m concerned of toxic fumes. Coming from oil leaking onto exhaust manifold and at only 52,000 miles on odometer!.
Intermittent loss of power at 2000 to 3000 rpm is getting worse and worse. I've taken it to my local Subaru dealer 8 times to address this issue and they have denied anything I've reported. They've had technicians on rides with me but I can't recreate something that is so intermittent. It seems to happen more in hot weather but I can safely say ac isn't the cause. Although my car isn't a crosstrek, the motor in one is exactly the same as mine. I suspected it was due to a recall repair that hadn't been performed but ive had both of my recalls done but my dealer never reported it to Subaru of America. The name of my main dealership is hine Subaru of temecula. . Read more...

My son owns a 2014 Subaru wrx with a manual transmission. On 25 Nov 2019 he was driving on 501 towards lititz/lancaster PA when his third gear decided to destroy itself while driving @ 45mph. I have read about so MA y of these manual transmissions destroying themselves under normal driving conditions. That car is his pride & joy until this happened. He purchased the car in maryland. Watching a rebuild on youtube after his phone call it seems that this is a common problem in any helicut gears. Lousy materials used. Being around cars, street & hi performance rides all my life I have never heard of a manual transmission destroy itself while driving at normal/highway speeds. Either Subaru manufactures it's vehicles to have issues such a lousy gear box's or they are buying trash from lousy vendors. High performance american, german, french, italian & other japanese cars with manual transmissions do not have this issue. It should be a recall issue. Submit a question to all Subaru owners with manual transmissions to see how MA y of them lost gears in them. No accident had happened only because my son is a level headed person with good common sense for a 24 year old this 3 Dec.

When shifting quickly into 4th gear on the manual transmission at higher rpm's (above 3000), the gear grinds. If you shift slowly, it doesnt. It seems to be only the 4th gear doing this. My car has 1300 miles on it. I am wondering if it because the rpm's hang way too long. I have been driving a manual daily for 28 years. I am also a professional truck driver, so I know how to properly drive a stick shift. The rpm hang is very annoying and could potentially be the problem of the 5speed transmission.
While driving downhill on the interstate, the accelerator suddenly was unresponsive, almost as if the car were in neutral. Once pulling over and restarting the car it drove normally. Took the car in for service and the dealer could not replicate the issue and there were no error codes.
Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that while coasting his vehicle forward in driveway, the vehicle independently surged forward without warning and collided into the garage door. The contact stated that the vehicle failure had occurred twice before and that the eyesight automatic braking feature failed to activate on each occurrence. The air bags did not deploy upon impact and there were no injuries as a result of the crash. A police report was not filed. The dealer(beyer Subaru 7416 richmond hwy, alexandria, va 22306 703-768-5800) was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to an independent body shop first and then to bring the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic. The contact sent the manufacturer an email in relation to the failure that occurred. The vehicle remained on the contact's property and had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. Jo.

The car broke down Nov. 2018 while my wife was driving on interstate highway. Dealer replaced valve body. Car was using a lot of oil between changes. When asked about it, dealer service dept said "just keep adding oil. " car started putting out blue cloud from exhaust when started. Asked dealer service dept, they said "subarus do that. Just keep adding oil. " had recall work done March 2019: valve spring replacement. Again asked about oil consumption. Service dept. Recommended adding oil between oil changes. Labor day 2019 car broke down again with same dash indicators flashing as in Nov. 2018. Car was in drive and moving forward at 35 miles per hour on a city street 150 miles from home. Dealer service dept said timing chain had jumped, engine failed. According to dealer service department, engine had excessive oil consumption, and said "engine is oil deprived. " car now needs a new engine. Dealer had promised to fix if issue from 2018 returned. The dealer did not honor the promise.
The key gets stuck in the ignition because the shift guide plate assembly is faulty. It doesn't not recognize the car is in park and other ranges do to the plate being bad. When shifting from reverse to drive the car doesn't always switch into gear because the plate doesn't recognize that you have changed gears and leaves you going in reverse when you have the gear selector in the drive position and vice versa. This problem has been going on for a few months now but has become more frequent.
2008 wrx started to make a sqeeking noise when engaging the clutch. The spot welds came apart from firewall and my clutch has gone out twice. The pedal when shifting sticks and while driving I have to put the pedal under my foot and pull upwards for it to work. Very dangerous and the welds are faulty, it should be a recall items. Subaru can request for a inspection anytime as it is very much needed to be addressed.

Was told that my car might have a recall on the valve spring, took it in they said the valve spring was bad but that my car was not included in the recall and I had to pay 2200. Not sure why my car which is the exact year for the recall and was actually having the issues caused by the bad valve would not be included in the recall.
Driving on highway and the car stopped/stalled suddenly while in motion, this was a dangerous situation, drivers behind me had to react to my sudden/full stop. I was told it was a transmission problem.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Subaru Impreza. While the vehicle was at a stop, it stalled, the engine shook, and the rpms went up and down. Also, the check engine and traction control indicators illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that there were no recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Subaru Impreza. While the vehicle was in park, the key failed to release from the ignition switch. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to capital Chevrolet (2855 maple Ave ne, salem, or 97301, (503) 585-4141) where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 15,000.
2012 Impreza sport with 71,000 miles, one owner, all manufacturer recommended maintenance performed. Mechanic noticed increased noise from rear of vehicle while doing test drive after performing maintenance. Reported rear wheel bearing failure after inspection requiring replacement of bearings.
Hit a bump and dashboard lit up with sensor lights. Subaru repair shop inspected with codes and said I need a new valve body for $1700. The warranty extension for this ended July 2018, but I never received a notification from Subaru or from my Subaru dealer regarding this known problem with the cvt.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start while depressing the brake pedal and pushing the start button. The brake pedal traveled to the floorboard numerous times before the vehicle was able to start. Also, while driving, the check engine and other unknown warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bill kolb jr. Subaru (located at 252 NY-303, orangeburg, NY 10962, (845) 359-7777) where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact replaced the battery, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer and was not repaired. On another occasion, while the vehicle was parked, it rolled backwards independently. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.
The problem I am about to describe has been intermittent for the past 3 years but recently has become consistent. The dealership has been unable to duplicate/locate the malfunction up until now. I would like to add that the concern was apparent while the vehicle was still under warranty. When driving the vehicle the transmission bucks and thumps with unreliable acceleration and a feeling of being pushed forward. After a mile or 2, the check engine light turn on, abs, traction and hill stop assist lights all turn on at which time the vehicle's performance is noticeably reduced especially at highway speeds. The engine rpm seems much higher and fuel mileage becomes terribly reduced. A diagnostic trouble code of p2764 sets in the transmission and the safety braking/stability systems become disabled. If what I researched this is a horribly common problem. My vehicle is out of warranty (even the extended warranty Subaru offered). The dealership wants $1700 to repair this malfunction which has been diagnosed as a cvt transmission valve controller malfunction. It is my opinion that this malfunction should be recalled rather than a simple warranty extension especially considering the fact that the safety/stability systems become disabled and the vehicle's emissions/fuel mileage is dramatically effected.
When vehicle is stationary and placed into park position, the gear shifter is able to be moved from park into drive, reverse, and neutral with the engine off. The key also becomes stuck in the ignition when the gear shifter is malfunctioning. Dealership stated that the shift interlock would need to be replaced to remedy the issue.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that the abs and traction control warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the gear shifter failed to shift out of park. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v149000 (exterior lighting); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called rye Subaru (located at 1175 boston post rd, rye, NY 10580, (914) 967-6300) and stamford Subaru (located at 198 baxter Ave, stamford, CT 06902, (203) 252-2222) and was informed that the part was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,777. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
To start off I have an extended warranty on my vehicle felt my clutch starting to shift they told me I needed a new clutch flywheel and throttle bearing. Took it to a independent repair shop. They replaced the throttle bearing which was completely warped clutch was good but replaced anyway because at that point why not the entire transmission was out. Called Subaru nothing was done. Also just got into an accident vehicle was totaled and my airbags did not inflate.
When I stop my car and put it into park, I cannot turn the key all the way to the lock position, and therefore cannot remove the key from the ignition. The car is not believing that it is actually in park. I have to restart the car, drive a little bit, and try again. This is happening with increasing frequency and is both a safety and security issue if the key cannot be removed. I do not know the first date it happened.
There have been repeated and reoccurring issues related to oil consumption as well as a faulty cvt transmission. Subaru has issued an extended 100,000 mile warranty, but this information was not provided directly to me. I found out about the extended warranty when I took the car in to a mechanic and they had knowledge of the extended warranty. The mechanic recommended I take it to a Subaru service center to try and get it covered under warranty. The car had 94,000 miles at the time I was made aware of this on 6/22/18. Since 6/22/18-11/2/19, I have repeatedly had reoccurring issues with both oil consumption and the cvt transmission. The service department has claimed to have repaired issues, but I have never had resolve of any of them. Instead I feel as though I have been told each item has been repaired. If similar issues have occurred, like the oil light illuminating after the short block replacement, I been given the explanation that it is due to software issues that need updating. These excuses have been given repeatedly until the 12 month warranty of the parts in question has then passed. This same thing has occurred with the slipping cvt transmission that I reported on 6/22/18, and now I am being told the transmission needs to be replaced at a cost of $8,000 out of pocket. The car is not even valued at $8,000 anymore. I would strongly advise research into these faulty parts and the consumer deceit that has occurred to myself and millions of other Subaru owners. Deceiving consumers until extended warranty periods pass, and requiring consumers to pay out of pocket should be illegal. I see now why Subaru opted for this extended warranty for both of these issues rather than admitting fault and providing a recall. This allows the deceit and Subaru taking financial responsibility of repairs to occur by looping in the service department into this scam. Do not buysubaru.
The car has stalled 3 times while driving. At a stop sign, red light and at a stop sign. The incident at the traffic light caused the vehicle to start rolling backwards and almost hit into another vehicle. Subaru can not find the problem but acknowledges the incidents of stalling. The car is not safe to drive and was purchased in the later half of April 2018.
Wheel bearing assembly failed rendering the vehicle unsafe for highway operation. When attempting the (Subaru) recommended repair the oem part was no longer available by substituted by an alternative part for this critical repair. We have retained the original part for inspection.
Recent 90k mile service revealed the need for transmission line replacement because it is starting to leak. With two previous recalls on 2011 Subaru Impreza for brake line corrosion (wqk47 and wqq52), would the transmission line also be susceptible to similar corrosion problems?.
