I have a great suspicion that kia has not only sold bad engined vehicles that are their own make and models but I believe they are selling used cars they buy like that as well. The car I bought has major engine problems that were hid from me at the time of the sales leading to a $5000 repair bill for a 7200$ car. I only had it for a couple weeks before it became un-drivable. Not only did they hide and lie about fact in the sales of their own cars , I have evidence showing that they are doing the same to used cars they're selling. They are barely doing the bare minimum to fix anything. They have lied to autocap on record about facts as well when I have recordings or them telling me other wise.

Oil is consumed excessively. I had an oil change done at around 120k miles and my oil light is popping on to let me know that I need another oil change. I have only driven it 2,000 miles since my last oil change and my oil level is low. Looking back at the carfax, the previous owner had oil changed every 2,000-3,000 miles, but the owner's manual states that oil should be changed every 5,000 miles. It seems this is a safety hazard and possible epa violation.

The cvt transmission has a known problem where the torque converter causes stalling. This issue is well documented on Subaru forums. I took my vehicle to Subaru about the problem and they said the fix for the stalling is to replace the torque converter. , it is not yet covered for a recall despite being such a large issue with these vehicles.
The contact called on behalf of her daughter who owns a 2011 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated that the vehicle sputtered while slowing down to come to a complete stop. P014a error code. Started car and was about 1/8 mile away from home driving at 40 mph on country road, and all the lights came on the dash (check engine, eyesight off warning light, battery, oil, etc. . . ). Immediately turned around and went home. My obdii scanner said p014a error. I reset the code. Called dealer to see if it was safe to drive and drop off (30 miles away) and they said yes. They then said if they cannot read the code they cannot do anything about it (because I reset it and it is not historically saved in the car). The code happed Aug 17, 2020 has not appear again as of sept 22, 2020. I don't know if they are related, but I have been having very strange problems with the radio volume since then. I've rotated the heat dial and it's turned the radio volume up / down, started the car and the volume is at maximum (after quickly turned the volume to zero, turned it to one is accpetable and 2 is way too loud).

Transmission failed. Began to make bad noises then failed to accelerate in an intersection. Was almost hit by another car. Dealer indicated that the Subaru transmissions were only lasting 90, 000 to 100,000 miles before requiring replacement. Contracted Subaru who said they had a voluntary fix, but we were not notified and were outside of the short time frame for the fix. We replaced transmission at cost of $10,000. Subaru offered 1000 off a new car but was not concerned about the safety issue and would not fix/replace the transmission for this known issue.
The contact owns a 2009 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated that the vehicle consumed a lot of oil. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be rebuilt or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

All power cuts off periodically while driving. Which can be very dangerous and cause an accident.
When I go to park my 2017 Subaru Legacy, I put my car in park and the key will not turn. It gets stuck and the engine will not turn off. Consequently, I am not able to turn off my car and take my key out. The dealer told me to back up my car and thrust my gear shifter into park. Then I was able to turn the key off. However, the situation continues to happen every time that I drive the car. It is clearly an issue with the engine/car as this never happened prior. I was told that Subaru's frequently have defective solenoids that holds the key in when the car is running might be defective. I have not yet seen a recall.

Vehicle dies. I know there is a recall out there for this reason but I'm told that my car is not part of this recall but my car is doing exactly what the recal is talking about.
While exiting off highway, the can unexpectedly shut off nearly causing a wreck. Car would not restart. The entertainment screen remained working the entire time. The instrument cluster went black and remained this way. Automatic windows, entertainment screen, radio all worked but car would not start. A similar issue had happened two weeks ago but we were not driving. . . The car would not start and a master Subaru tech looked at car and they said nothing was wrong with it. . Obviously they were wrong. Very disappointed in Subaru. This is a very dangerous issue.
The contact owns a 2010 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated while driving at 50 mph, the emergency brake warning light, traction control, oil pressure warning light, and the cruise control warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was then towed to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission valve body had failed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred a week later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with an unknown electrical failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred less than a week later. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who advised the contact to turn off the vehicle, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, and to then restart the vehicle. The contact followed the instructions however, the failure persisted and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the gas cap was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

On the dashboard showed that the remain mileage was 70, but it stopped all the sudden due to no gas. I almost caused an accident because the car stopped on a public street with heavy traffic. After many times trying to start the car, it did not work; it was completely dead. I had to leave the car stranded to go and get gas to the nearest gas station.
In colder weather I have fuel leaking from fuel lines under the hood which creates a strong gas smell inside the vehicle. I went online and found nhsta recall # 00v393000 . I am not sure if this is for my vehicle or not. Since this is a major safety issue, could it be repaired at at Subaru dealer near me ?.

My car hesitates and turns off sometimes when slowing down at a stop or red light, rpms fluctuate as I brake or accelerate, my brake light is on solid and I get a at oil temp light flashing and then I can't use my paddleshifters at all, car sounds highly rev'd but doesn't go as fast! please help as this is a safety hazard, I drive on California freeways everyday and this is a danger to my family when commuting.
#1 since the vehicle was purchased I had to add at least one quart of oil to the engine between each recommended oil change. I informed the dealer who had me return approx 1300 miles after my last oil change, which I did. The dealer indicated to me that the oil level was fine. By 3,700 miles the oil warning light came on and I had to add a quart of oil. #2 since the vehicle was purchased I had to turn the rotors or purchase new rotors every 6 month. When you try to stop the braking system has extensive shaking when braking. It makes the car hard to stop when the shaking occurs. When you turn the rotors the shaking goes away but will return in about 4 to 6 months.
Extended crank issue - I've had an extended crank issue with my car for the last 10 months. The car has been taken to the Subaru dealership where it was purchased 3 time. The car spent 30 days in the shop due to this problem. The car is having a very hard time starting after it's been sitting for a few hours. And sometimes not starting at all, when it does eventually start it's cranking for an additional 10-30 seconds. One it does start the engine knocks and runs rough until it warm, then goes away. When the car was at the dealership, I was informed that the extended crank is a known issue for the year I have. I was told the computer system in the car needs to be replaced in order to fix the problem. I representative from Subaru came out to the dealership to look at my car and 2 others same year make and model that were having the same problem. The representative deemed it "normal" he said " nothing I can do until a recall gets approved" and "Subaru needs to fix bugs in the system". He also said that while the car has the extended crank issue it is putting more wear and tear on the engine and it would soon need to be replaced. I was then sent on my way because, they couldn't do anything for me. Needless to say the car is still having issues because of the extended crank, nothing has been resolved.
Since November of 2017 while driving the car it has intermittently jerked and shook excessively, bucking like a mad horse. Car was brought in to dealer for diagnosis. Dealer was not able to identify the cause. After several visits to dealer where I was assured the problem was fixed the same problem continued. It should be noted that the car, while driving started to shut down and I needed to be towed to the dealer. Dealer claimed the problem was a faulty spark plug. Car was then returned to me. Yet again the problem persisted and had I to crawl like a turtle back to home. Car was towed again to dealer for another diagnosis. Now the dealer believes the problem is a faulty cylinder (whatever that means). I have no trust in the reliability of this vehicle and am concerned about the safety of driving this vehicle with my family. It be should be noted that the car has been serviced exactly to the instructions per the mileage guidance. I have reported this concern to Subaru of America corporate office. Case # 1-38872409282. Their response is unfair. I am now left with a car that is unsafe to drive and I should not be penalized financially.

The contact stated he continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
My car keeps running on low oil before the liisted next oil change . And a Subaru dealership changes it everytime its due. Called them up after the third time it happened and they said to just add oil.
Takata inflators;the air bag warning light has been flashing on &off &now it's on all the time , the bag was supposed to have been changed by the dealership on Jan. 19 2017 @ northpark Subaru here in san antonio TX. ,how can I verify that the bag was indeed replaced & why did the airbag light started to flash after the bag was replaced a short time afterwards , not all the time , but every now & then & now it's on all the time ? is it safe to drive & how can I confirm that the recall was indeed preformed ? when I picked up my car ,to me it looked like it had'nt been touched ,to be honest , but I did'nt question it @ the time , am I wrong to think that ? any way I was not told which bags were replaced , driver side or pass side or both , I don't know , can you help ???.

On the 2010 Subaru Legacy 2. 5gt the under hood emissions label shows a misprint. The label includes the word "air" indicating that the vehicle should have a emissions related air pump. The vehicle does not! this was apparently updated on the 2012 models but not the 2010. This error on Subaru's part is causing me to fail California's emissions test. I now have to visit a referee because of this error.
Following are two main issues, causality/correlation uncertain. After the "Subaru eyesight" failed for about two minutes while underway (dashboard cluster lit up in numerous places, too), the eyesight system reset while driving. Thereafter, the vehicle began to "buck (e. G. Lurch forward several inches with a lot of force)" when the vehicle's cvt was in "drive" and I was stopped with the brake depressed at normal pressure. This has happened about six times in the last four days, and I am extremely concerned. The "buck" is so severe that the first time it happened, I felt like I was rear-ended. The most recent time that it occurred, my best friend could have been severely injured when the car lurched forward as he was standing outside of the running vehicle, gathering things from the front seat (e. G. Foot or leg run over had he been taking groceries out of the back seat). At this point, the Subaru dealership is being coy about situation resolution. What is especially concerning is that the eyesight system is supposed to "kill" acceleration when the vehicle is stopped, and an object forward of the car is detected. Yet, the vehicle tried to proceed forward when stopped in traffic?.

The contact owned a 2015 Subaru Legacy. While driving at an unspecified rate of speed, an animal went across the driver's path. The driver veered to the right and crashed into a tree. The vehicle erupted into flames. Weeks prior to the crash, the vehicle was taken to the dealer due to various warning lights randomly flashing on the instrument panel. The dealer repaired the vehicle according to a manufacturer's recall; however, the remedy may have been insufficient and caused the failure. A police report was filed. The driver side air bag deployed with force. The driver sustained extensive abrasions to the head, a fractured right femur, four lateral fractures in the arms, fractures to the left elbow with metal plates, and burns to the back. Medical attention was required. The vehicle was towed. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 15v502000 (power train) and 15v366000 (exterior lighting, forward collision avoidance). The approximate failure mileage was 25,100.
The cylinder head gasket went out with only 67,000 mileage on the engine and I hear this happening on this style and year of the car. I have heard that Subaru is recalling many of the engines from 2012 to 2013. This is a major issue and Subaru should recall the engines and fix this problem free of charge.
