When starting the vehicle, an extremely high pitched noise is emitted from the speakers. The safety of my young child is at risk every time I start the car because this could cause irreparable hearing loss. This is a known issue across many Toyota models as I've found through online forums. Toyota wants $1,200 to fix the dcm module when it is a manufacturing issue and not caused by the consumer.

I was pulling into a parking spot when my car suddenly accelerated to a very high speed. I traveled over a curb, on some pavement, through some bushes, knocked down a light pole and miraculously came to a stop. My foot was pumping the brakes to no avail. My entire car was damaged but miraculously no one was hurt. Car was towed to a mechanic who confirmed that the car accelerated with him as well. Front, back, underside, roof, tires and frames were all badly damaged.

The manufacturer is no longer producing oem windshield that comply with the a das features which are now in operable because my windshield will not calibrate after replacement because there is not an oem windshield available. I have contacted Toyota. I have also searched everywhere in the states for an oem windshield Toyota has tried to calibrate the replacement which is aftermarket, as well as the auto glass installer to no avail. Toyota is no longer manufacturing the oem windshield which is needed for the safety features to function properly. The car should be recalled for a manufacturer defect.

The car emitted a very loud, high pitched sound, lasting several seconds when starting the vehicle, which was very painful. At the same time, red and green lights are seen flashing a few times next to the sos button. This has happened twice in the past month.

There is a very strong musty smell. 80% of the time it's when I turn on ac. 20% just at random driving times. Whenever car has sat longer then a few hours with all windows up. When open doors is has very musty smell. I have done everything to do with cleaning vehicle. This is a hybrid I'm a lil scared when it comes to electrical fire . Do to this musty smell. That means there is some type of fluid gathering somewhere. So what does Toyota plan on doing?.

05/04/2025 first of all, we love our Avalon. However, for the last 6 months or so, water is getting in the car and ends up soaking the carpet on the left front floorboard carpet. We have checked everything we can think of to find the source of the leak but was uneasily. We had to have some scratches fixed and took the car to a body shop to see if they could find the source of the leak. They sprayed water on the sunroof for about an hour but no water leaked inside. We have also taken the car to the local Toyota dealership (sheehy Toyota in the fredericksburg area, they could not find the source of the leak. It rained here (fredericksburg, va last night and the left front floorboard was soaked. I need help finding the source of the leak(s) so we can continue enjoying our Avalon. I was driving home from work. I was on the the highway driving approximately 55 mph. All of a sudden I heard what can only be described as a gun shot or explosion. It was extremely loud and it almost caused me to run into the guardrail. I then heard glass falling onto the safety shield of my moonroof. I got home and inspected the moonroof and there was a large hole in the moonroof. The glass appeared to push out from inside the car. There were zero signs that this would happen. The moonroof is never used. It was approximately 75 degrees and partly cloudy when this occurred.

Dash board is melting which causes it to get shiny which causes it to reflect onto the windshield. This reflection makes it very difficult to see other vehicles, road lines, and traffic direction sighns.

I had a smell of old water in my vehicle while trying to figure out from where it was coming from . I noticed in left and right rear ceiling quarter panels both wet and had water damage. Then I opened my trunk and it also had the same stale water smell. Under the spare tire on the very bottom of trunk there was at least 2 gallons of stale water. I have not had this looked at by the dealer or a mechanic. Do to it being a hybrid im very worried do to electrical components near the rear back seats where leak stains and water is . Also in my trunk is a hybrid battery next to were water was filling up. There's no damage to anything on the vehicle inside or out the vehicle has not been in no accidents. I'm available upon request for inspections. I have provided pictures of damage on rear ceiling panels . Thank you and I look forward to hearing from someone as soon as possible.

While driving, the tire sidewall ripped in half. I had reported this as a tire failure but firestone (owns bridgestone) stated that this was caused by the vehicle (Toyota Avalon). I did want to report this in case there are other incidents.

Water is filling up in my trunk not sure how it is getting in . Have noticed a lil water stains along back top of lining. I started smelling a stail water smell when I found a puddle of water under my spare tire . Im extremely worried with winter coming again . Not to mention there is a battery locate in truck as well. So I feel completely unsafe. I have recently had noticed hybrid battery going from high to low then all of sudden died. Had to purchase a new battery. Please is this normal?someone help before it rains again and something terrible happens.

The rear sun screen will get stuck in the up position . At night there is almost no visibility out of the back window. This is a very dangerous safety problem. Apparently Toyota has had a problem with this feature with no effort made to correct it.

The passenger side mirror failed. The mirror exploded into the passenger window with a loud sound while driving at 35 mph. No rock found impacting mirror, no bird found at impact point, no dead animal found at impact point. If passenger window had not been up then mirror remains would have entered the car cabin. The mirror has been replaced and is not available for inspection. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center to my knowledge. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of a problem prior to the failure. The problem occurred on March 22nd, 2022 at 10:30 am eastern time zone approximately.

Instrument cover and glove box has turned sticky and very reflective. Sun can reflect up to windshield and nearly complete obscure visibility. Toyota replaced many on their own but now will not honor the recall.

I have a tacky dashboard which has a glare on the dashboard hindering vision while driving. I understand is a recall however not for 2013 Avalons. I’m a senior which make more difficult for to drive my care comfortably. I would like Toyota to approve the repair for my car. I’ve been a loyal customer for 25 years sincerly.

Front windshield seems to be failing. Glass along perimeter where windshields sits / mounts onto the body of the car its failing. The glass seems to be delaminating in various spots along the entire perimeter. Please review photos. I have contacted Toyota corporate about this and they could not careless. Their response for me was to go pound sand.

Dashboard sticky, cracking. Also extreme glare off dash causing sight distraction. Part of a recall and Toyota would not assist.

There is a bad smell coming from the air ducting especially when the ac is set to recycle the cabin air. The smell is so nauseating that you have to roll the windows down while driving down the road or parked. The Toyota dealership charged me $155 +/- to clean the ducting on a less than 2-year-old car with approximately 35,000 mi on it. I'm not sure how long their cleaning service will keep the smell removed. I've owned multiple vehicles in my lifetime and never encountered this problem. This should not be happening on a new vehicle.

Headlights failed to operate correctly, resulting in taking the car to fix problem , service advisor told me that this veh VIN number shows this car should not havve automatly controled headlights, the car is being serviced at cedar rapids Toyota , steve lemke is the servvice advisior.

Low-pressure fuel pump.

The Toyota Avalon has a reoccurring issue with the sunshade in the rear view window breaking and staying in the up position. There does not appear to be a function to keep the sunshade in the down/stored state. This creates a potentially hazardous visibility issue when trying to back up the car and/or at night when driving.

Melting dashboard. This should have been a recall from the get-go. Poses a glare hazard when driving on a bright day.

I have replaced O2 sensors twice to get rid of the check engine light for codes that have popped you p1135 & p1155. Took car to two different mechanics and Toyota dealership and no one could figure out why the light is still on. All sensors have been replaced with denso parts. This seems like a recall if not even the Toyota dealer could fix the problem. There are many people having the same issue with Toyota's. I need my car to pass a smog and it could not because of this issue. Car only has 62,000 miles and runs great.

On may 25th, 2020 I was pulling into a taco bell drive through. It was located up a little hill. As I drove up the hill I hit a little curbing. I backed up and adjusted the car to miss the curb. When I put the car into drive it lurched forward at a high speed. Seeing I was going to hit the car in front, I hit my brakes. The car did not stop until I had hit the car in front with a lot of force. That car was thrown into the truck in front of it. That was the beginning of a huge scare! I put the car in reverse so I could observe the damage to my car the the car in front of me. When I did so the car accelerate at full speed in reverse going back down the hill and headed straight for a drugstore. The car was making a whiring sound, like when you rev up the engine. I pushed the brakes to the floor but the car would not stop but keep going faster! I pumped the brakes some more but it would not stop. When I saw I was headed into the store, I turned the wheels to avoid it and tried braking again without stopping. I finally hit the stop engine button but not before the car hit a parked truck in the store lot which stopped it. It was the most frightening experience I have ever had. I am now afraid to get into a car. I was too upset to take photos. I will list the crash report in the file below.

The subject vehicles may be equipped with an electronic control unit (ecu) from a specific supplier designed to receive signals from crash sensors and deploy the airbags and seat belt pretensioners. The ecu may not have adequate protection against certain electrical noise that can occur in certain crashes, such as severe underride crashes. This can lead to incomplete or nondeployment of the airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners.

Changing intersection in the city streets engine stalls like its not getting enough fuel.

I have a smell of moldy old water what is going on ? why is water filling up in my trunk? what do my head lights bulb keep going out? why haven't you guys done anything? for real I have a darn battery in my trunk come on. I already had to purchase a battery .

Rear headliner to vehicle is becoming detached from interior roof. This is appearing at rear windshield area which is compromising inhibiting the view, safety issue. Vehicle has 42,400 miles but over a year out of warranty. This appeared in December 2019. Should not of happened to a vehicle of this age/miles. Toyota has said this will be a one time fix. Should an accident occur if this happens again because of inability to see out of rear window, an attorney will be contacted for a lawsuit against Toyota as I've read of other car with exact same defect.

My car has an sos system that notifies Toyota or their contractor if the car has been in an accident, summons law enforcement, tow truck, etc. I do not know what other safety issues are wrapped into it. It has a red warning light that goes on when it stops working. It has been into my local dealer three times to be repaired and each "repair" has failed immediately upon me picking it up again. Today, after the dealer worked on it, the decided that the "cell system" that is built into the car and is under the passenger seat needs to be replaced and will cost $2200. 00. I don't know what other "safety systems" are reliant on this dysfunctional safety but I would like for NHTSA to know about this and let me know if it is a hazard for me and others. The red light stays on whenever the car is operated.

I was heading down snow geese south in duck n. C. To turn left onto wood duck drive. As I approached the turn, my brakes failed and I went into the parking area of 1324 duck road. I could hit a parked truck or house. I hit the truck. The airbags didnt deploy. None of them. It was a head on collision. My car was totaled. The police showed up and were suprised that there were no airbags. This concerns me greatly. The brakes failing was scary enough, but absolutely no airbags!.

*** suspension & oe tire bridgeston el440 - rolling while cornering on uneven/bumpy road - not sure but I feel tire standing wave sometimes - I replaced it with michelin premier a/s and got better grip and 50%-less-rolling effect. *** blind spot monitor(bsm) is unreliable - not properly works sometimes - it cannot detect a car passing by at high speed. - it cannot detect a car at a tiny bit over permissible angle, especially merging road. (I feel that bsm angle is too narrow or short and it works only when the object is exact parallel to my car. ) - I would like this bsm to be always on at any time and condition.

Headliner at the top of the rear window is falling down making it a safety hazard while looking in my rear view mirror.
