Check engine light came on. Code stated that the gas pedal throttle was stuck in open position. My car was not idling high so that had to be an error. Mechanic reset the check engine light 2 days later light came back on. This time my car would not accelerate at all. I had my car towed to dealership and was told the accelerator pedal throttle assembly was bad.

Accelerator gets stuck open. I took my foot off the gas and the vehicle accelerated. It would rev at high speeds when I stepped on the brake. I tried downshifting with no effect. When I finally stopped at a stoplight with both feet on the brakes the engine revved up to very high rpms, even when I put the vehicle in park. Then it finally stalled out.

After slowing down or completely stopping, my car stalls as I reaccelerate. When I slow down (I. E to turn, etc) and then reaccelerate the car stalls, slow to gain speed, and at times even jerks slightly- this mainly occurs when I slow down and then reaccelerate on an incline (I. E getting on a bridge). If I am stopped completely at a light, etc, the car delays upon acceleration, and will kick-in after a couple seconds, also, if I attempt to increase my speed suddenly (I. E to pass another vehicle quickly to prevent being rear-ended!) the time to accelerate is delayed. The gas pedal does not stick, but seems to be a delay in changing gears or something. I drive ~120 miles a day, mostly multi-lane roadways, and in heavily trafficked areas with many tourists and young drivers. I encounter many irresponsible speeders everyday, and sometimes I need to get out of their way ASAP to avoid being run over! this is my 4th Toyota in 20 years, and a regrettable purchase. This issue started about 1 month after purchasing, and I have experienced it everyday since.

On my morning commute I had to initiate a fast acceleration by depressing the accelerator pedal fully to gain speed and upon taking my foot off the pedal I noticed it remained depressed fully and continued to accelerate. This situation had happened a year prior in a similar case where I had put "the pedal to the metal" and the accelerator pedal stuck to the floor. Slamming on the brakes allowed the accelerator to disengage and operate as normal. The instance today occurred on a city street while driving straight; max acceleration was engaged at around 5mph and my top speed reached 40mph before I was able to regain control of the accelerator pedal.

In December 2016 my sister was driving the car and accelerator got stuck. She shifted to neutral and pumped the break and it stopped, then happened again a few minutes later and she did the same thing this time pulling over and restarting the car. Last week my father had the same problem on a stretch of open highway and pumped the breaks and accelerator and it stopped. He took it to the dealer who filed a report with Toyota. They said nothing was wrong with the car and recommended giving the car back to my 84 year old father as is. Dad spent an additional 12,000 dollars to trade it in. Toyota took no responsibility and did not even offer a break on a trade in. Concerned the car will go to another family that might not be as lucky as my dad ( driving straight on an open stretch of highway).

I went to back up my car out of a parking space at church. Put the car in reverse, and touched the gas pedal, and suddenly the car took off backwards at an extremely high speed and became uncontrollable. Would appear that the accelerator was stuck. The accident resulted in property, damage to another car, financial loss and mental anguish. Car was on church property at the time of the accident car was totalled by safeco, not repaired. I could not find an open recall on this car, but do not believe that should rule out the defect.

The contact owned a 2016 Toyota Camry. While driving 30 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck in the depressed position and the vehicle accelerated to 80 mph. The brake pedal failed to respond and the vehicle crashed into a pole. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a fractured sternum that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,700.
I was pulling out on to the highway at a very slow speed when my accelerator stuck all of the way down to the floor. There was a Jeep next to me and he had to pull into the outside lane to avoid a collision with me. The car has been accelerating and then slowing down on its own as I am driving down the highway. The rpm's increase and the go back to the normal reading when I am driving down the road. You can hear the engine rev up higher and then go back to the original reading.
My gas pedal keeps sticking when I start to accelerate after a red light. I can't find any recall information for the 2000 Camry. Please advise if there is one or will I have to pay my mechanic to fix this. Thank you.
The contact owned a 2005 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while parking, the accelerator pedal became stuck, causing the vehicle to crash through a guardrail and land on its roof. The contact did not sustain any injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000. Updated 12/17/lj.
I was backing out of a parking space. When I put car in drive and started turning wheel to the right, car wouldn't turn and braking did not stop car. It seemed as if accelerator was stuck. Car finally stopped when it hit parked car. Something similar happened about a year ago.

In addition, the accelerator pedal would not return to the original position as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileage was 118,000. Kmj.
On January 18, 2010 my wife and I bought a Toyota Camry, se model from arlington Toyota, jacksonville, FL. A few months after we bought this vehicle, Toyota company recalled this vehicle model due to the possibility that the accelerator gets jammed on the floor mat, which may cause the vehicle to accelerate unintentionally. We took our Toyota Camry to arlington Toyota on July 8, 2010 to resolve the recall problem. We have been driving this vehicle and had been running fine until an accident happened. On June 27, 2012, about 7:00 p. M. , my wife and I went to tire plus car care, just west of hodges blvd on atlantic blvd and about a mile from where we live. My wife and I were approaching a parking space in front of the tire plus car care. As she was slowly parking, an unintended acceleration occurred at the speed of about 40 ? 50 miles an hour hitting the curb, the tree and irrigation pipe on the mound of landscape in front of tire plus car care. At home, after we left our vehicle to tire plus to assess the damages on my car, I discussed the accident scenario with my wife. I asked her if she could have possibly hit the accelerator while parking and she firmly said no. Her reaction to the sudden acceleration, being so close to the parking curb, was to stop the car and therefore she would have just hit the brake firmly as her right foot was already on the brake while attempting to park. The Toyota vehicle recall that might have been turned-in to resolve the accelerator getting stuck on the floor-mat may still have problem of unintended acceleration. My wife and I would like to share and escalate our experience so we could hopefully warn other owners and help prevent possible serious accident that may occur to consumers by a recalled vehicle that unintentionally accelerate.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal would stick while driving. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis however, the mechanic was unable to find anything wrong with the vehicle. The took the vehicle to additional mechanics and was told the failure could have been caused by the transmission. The contact also took the vehicle to a dealer who also was unable to determine the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 30,000.
The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the accelerator pedal became stuck. The contact stated that the failure occurred several times and that she had to continuously tap the accelerator pedal in order to disengage it. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 01v012000 (vehicle speed control). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 132,000.
The accelerator pedal sticks. Every time I come to a halt for about 20secs to 1 minute. I have to push hard a couple of times or more to release the pedal from the stuck position. The car then goes into sudden acceleration. This has been happening for about 6 months and has gotten progressively worse. I noticed teh same problem with my 2007 Toyota Camry accelerator pedal.

Accelerator is getting stuck repeatedly in my 1999 Toyota Camry. When the accelerator is stuck I have to either force harder on the pedal or I have to release my foot and then hit the accelerator again with a greater force to remove the pedal from the stuck position causing the vehicle to accelerate highly when the pedal gets released and with my greater force on pedal. I have been running the vehicle like this for sometime but this issue is frequently happening so I wanted to bring this issue to your notice as a safety problem with the 1999 Toyota Camry car. Because of this issue I don't drive my kids in this car and I am concerned about the safety of myself and the passengers in it.

At times when I come to a stop (traffic, stop light, stop sign, etc. ) or slow down in my 1999 Toyota solara I have trouble accelerating from the idle speed(s). When I press down on the gas pedal to accelerate it sticks. It won't move unless I apply more pressure which causes my car to jerk or "peel out". This situation does not occur at every acceleration but does occur frequently. When this situation happens I do not feel safe. There has been a few occurrences where the roads where wet and I experienced this problem. When my car finally accelerated the tires" spun out" which caused my car to move violently. This incident is not similar to that of which is in the Toyota gas pedal recall but I urge you to look into this matter to see if it should also be included.
I owned a Toyota Camry for 2 years and had 2 incidents when the accelerator stuck causing me to lose control of the car. After the 1st incident I returned the vehicle to the dealer and was told nothing was wrong with vehicle. Then the Toyota recalls began and I contacted Toyota and was told my vehicle was not part of the recall even though I was having the same problems. I requested my vehicle be checked and was told I would have to pay for all costs. After the 2nd incident I again returned the vehicle where I was told there was no mechanical or electronic problems it was an issue with pedal placement and floor mats. I sold the car back to the dealer at a considerable financial loss. I am very concerned this vehicle and others like it are back on the road. Updated ivoq 08/24/10.
While traveling to atlantic city on 7/6/2010,I began to exit at exit #7 on the garden state pkwy. , the accelerator pedal stuck to the floor board, I could not control the auto, my wife and I traveled across a field , went up an embankment across the highway went down the other side and hit a tree at ahigh rate of speed but the air bags did not deploy. Car was a total loss, but we escaped with minor injuries.
The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Camry. The contact was parking the vehicle when the accelerator pedal became stuck causing the vehicle to crash into a building. There were no injuries. The entire front end of the vehicle was crushed and the windshield was broken. The vehicle was towed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 67,000.
I have a 1999 Toyota Camry, le, that the gas pedal continually sticks. I have to hold the gas pedal when it sticks and press down, sometimes hard, on the gas pedal to continue forward. My daughter has driven the car and almost was rear ended when she couldn't get the car to move.
On listed date at approximately 0940, my mother in law was operating my 2007 Toyota Camry in la plata, MD. As she pulled left into a parking space she removed her foot from the accelerator and placed in on the brake and went to place the vehicle into park. At that time, the vehicle lurched aggressively forward, jumping several feet into the grass at that location. She was able to stop the vehicle since her foot was on the brake, place in into reverse and park it without further incident. She reported it to me immediately. She had my two young children in the vehicle and knew that I had an unwanted acceleration incident in Jan. 2008. That incident (accelerator was stuck to floor- reported to NHTSA (ref odi #10214714), was investigated by scott yon of NHTSA who also personally inspected the vehicle. The recall repair was completed on the vehicle in April 2010. This incident occurred after repairs were performed.
While driving the car at approximately 30mph, when I pressed the brake pedal, the car would not stop. The gas pedal got stuck. I put the car in neutral and pressed the power button. When I restarted the car, the brakes and gas pedal worked appropriately.
We have a 1998 Toyota Camry in which the accelerator sometimes sticks after the vehicle has been driven and comes to a stop for a stop sign, red light, etc. The accelerator seems to be allowed to be depressed a very miniscule amount and then it stops or gets stuck. If you push down hard at this point it clicks, releases, and the accelerator is allowed to continue to be depressed as far as you wish. When it clicks it is as if it pops over whatever it was stuck on.

Gas pedal stuck while on interstate highway I-75, traveling at 60mph. When I stepped down on the accelerator in order to pass another vehicle the accelerator pedal stuck down. The vehicle began to accelerate even after I removed my foot from the pedal. I was then able to free the pedal by wedging my foot underneath the pedal and pushing up on the pedal. This has happened after my vehicle as recalled for unintended acceleration and the safety recall repair was completed on 2/11/10.
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph, attempted to make a turn and a loud noise was coming from the engine. The accelerator pedal began to stick with a sluggish response, followed by the engine stalling. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. The technician stated that the noise was coming from a pebble in the hub caps. The failure had not occurred after the service repair. The failure mileage was 53,000.
I got the recall took my car in to be repaired and the accelerator is still sticking I am worried that over time as the vehicle ages it will not be safe to drive.
