On April 21, 2015 I had my car in the dealer for a oil change etc. When I left the dealer I noticed that my air bag light was on located on the dash and also the air bag light stated that it was off. I went back to the dealer and showed him what happened and he stated that it was a computer problem and it would cost me around $700. 00 to repair the computer. I told him it was not on when I brought the car in and now it is on. I only have approx. , 48,000 on this car and I purchased it new in Nov. 2005. He did not fix it and I am concerned that if I get into a accident the airbag system will not work. I do not have the $700. 00 to get it fixed. I do not believe what he told me, it must be something else with the airbag system. As long as the airbag lights are on it will not pass state inspection. I need it fixed. Thank you.

My passenger airbag indicator was illuminating the "off" light when an adult was seated in my passenger seat. Diagnostics done at a Toyota dealership indicated I needed a new occupant detection ecu. It failed for unknown reasons. This was a $670 fix. They installed a new one and it did not work. They then installed another one, which did not work properly either. Finally, they installed a third one and it wasn't working properly either. I was told by the service guy that they were using parts that had "returned" stickers on the box and had already been opened. I was told that genuine, new parts were what I was being quoted for, but the service technician clearly stated that they were trying to install parts into my vehicle that had been returned for some reason. I am very concerned that Toyota is installing parts into my vehicle that were found to be defective in other vehicles. . ? I am also very concerned that the sensors that are supposed to activate the airbag, which is a vital safety feature, are not working. This is not something that should stop working in a vehicle of this age and mileage.

. . . . . . . Just need to ask a question, in iight of the stories on air bag,the light on my dashboard says. . . "passenger air bag off". . . . . . I called Toyota and they asked if I were nearby and could I come in when I called (about 4 pm). . . . I said I was nearby and drove directly there (67th western, chicago. One of the techs looked at the light and said "OH that light will go off when some one sits in the passenger seat ( knew it wouldn't). . . . He immediately went to the passenger side, sat down and the light didnt go off. . . . . Then he said OH, ur airbag light is on (behind the steering wheel) . He then said since ur car is not on the re-call list, we have to conduct an inspection. . About $110 dollars, and then if we find something, the $110 will be applied to the charges. I said like what, he said it might be a sensor, it might be something else we dont know until we inspect it. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . So, my question to you is how do you know that 2004 Camry's are not included, and whether or not,Toyota just wants to charge me for something that they should have covered. . . . Secondly, 2 items on your recall list, I dont believe were done a) NHTSA #11v539000, Nov. 9, 2011. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . And b)NHTSA#04v346000, July 13, 2004. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Thank you for your assistance and advice.

1994 Toyota Camry. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle airbag installation issues. The consumer stated the air bag light illuminated.
The passenger air bag light never goes off. Dealership says it'll cost $500 to fix but I don't understand what's wrong with it in the first place but because of it they say none of the air bags will work in a crash. Absolutely ridiculous.

2002 Toyota solara. Consumer writes in regards to passenger side airbag light illuminated.
I adjusted the steering column while at a stop light. When I locked everything in place, the airbag light lit up. All of the controls on the steering wheel do not work. I can't use the horn; turn the radio on or make hands free calls. I took it to Toyota and they said it was the wiring harness for the airbag and it was an expensive repair. I've left it alone for 5 years. I figure with the takata air bag issue I might be better off.
The airbag light keeps coming on and I have taken it to several places and nobody can tell mewhat's wrong.
Air bag light stays on all the time. . . On dash. . . Air bags have not gone off yet.
Tamara recall my airbag light been on for about two year, I don't know what the cause is and I'm really concerned due to the fact that I am pregnant. I'm concerned about the airbag deploying while driving and fear the safety of my unborn child and myself.
My airbag light has been coming on and going off for years depending on how the passenger seat is positioned but there was never a recall. After reviewing the site and other complaint for the same year make and model as my vehicle I'm wondering why this isn't a safety concern. The dealer doesn't know what's going on. I got it fixed last year they said it was the pins. Now they are saying the harness needs to be replaced.
The dashboard is disintegrating. The area on the front part of the dashboard (closest to the windshield) seems to be the worse, although the problem is spreading to the entire dash. It is sticky, tacky, shiny and gouges easily. This problem is creating a glare and is dangerous. The dash is basically melting. I worry about the function of the airbags. Recently my airbag light is coming on and then going out for no apparent reason. I fear that the dash will become so unstable that it will cause the airbag to deploy. Please help. I am afraid for anyone to sit on the driver's side of my car.
When I am driving the car, airbag light turns on and remains on all the time while I am driving the car. I took car to local Toyota dealer and they have no clue on how to fix airbag on warning. They reset the error message . . . . But after driving for 10 miles, airbag on light again comes up and stays on all the time while I am driving the car.

I was in the left lane on the highway, and the driver swerved and slammed on brakes in front of me therefore, forced me to swerve and slam on brakes. My car did not stop in time and I rearended the car. The airbag light came on but none of the airbags deployed.
Every time that the passenger seat is moved forward to allow passengers in or out the air bag light in the vehicle starts blinking. The light will blink for around 15 days before it shuts off if the passenger seat is not moved forward for passengers during that time. The next time the passenger seat is moved forward for passengers, the cycle starts over again.

Airbag indicator light came on for apparently no reason, took car in for service and was told it was not an issue with Toyota, I had to pay to get part replaced, after almost $400 repair cost, got vehicle back and running. This issue should not be put on the back of consumers as these are safety parts that should last much longer that average parts of the cars.
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the abs, traction control, and air bag light would intermittently illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing where it was stated that the brake actuator assembly would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.
Passenger side air bag not working took to dealership for re=calibration did not repair have to schedule again no air bag light working so the passenger seat has no dash board air bag or knee air bags. Please investigate before someone is a accident and the safety air bags don't work.
Passenger side air bag light turns off and on with no one sitting seat. Front end suspension has popping sound and tire wire on the inside of tears is very unusual. , feels like the front end is flexing down and causes the front end to feel light and un controllable and causing the vehicle pull left. If give the look of the bottom of wheels are bowed outward.
Noticed that the air bag light is on constantly, the seat belt light keeps flashing and the passenger air bag light is always off even if a heavy adult is sitting in it. The seat belt light keeps flashing always. Noticed this but thought as most times drive alone thought that as there is no passenger in the passenger seat most of the times and attributed the cause of the flashing seat belt light for that. But now know that this is definitely a safety issue.
The air bag light continues to go on. I've spent many dollars to get if fixed, however, no one seems to know why the light is constantly on. It seems to be on the passenger side. The light goes on whenever the key is engaged.
Air bag indicator light has been on since at least 9/18/12. Several Toyota technicians stated it was the squib cable in the steering wheel that needs replacement - other Toyota representatives state that it is not the cable. I know the Toyota tacoma (?) truck was recalled for a similar problem and the defect corrected. I cannot get a straight answer from Toyota if the air bags will engage in a collision - some technicians say it may or may not. The cost to repair was quoted to be somewhere around $680. 00.
Takata recall my car' airbag light is o n .
Airbag light illuminated. Code b1801 was present. Coil spring / spiral cable needed to be replaced.
I purchase a 2002 Toyota Camry in August 2003 from reinhart Toyota in montgomery, alabama. The vehicle was certified used with only about 19000 on the odometer. Because it was certified used I assumed that the vehicle had been reviewed to ensure that it had all of its parts and they operated properly. I have driven the vehicle for almost nine years without any major issues. About a year or two ago, the airbag light would come on and stay on in the vehicle when the cabin of the vehicle got hot but I did not take in to have it looked at that time. Until recently when I took the vehicle to bob howard Toyota in edmond, oklahoma to replace the driver side door handle (which was my third time replacing it) during this time I thought it was good idea to have the technician check out the airbag light also. After the technician conducted their review they informed me that my vehicle did not have a passenger side airbag. They installed resistors to keep the airbag light from coming on to warning me about the issue. This gave me a false sense of security by intentionally falsifying information about the vehicle in order to earn a profit, therefore endangering the lives of my family members. If the light would have come on before I bought the vehicle I would have asked about it but it did not. If they sell a certified used vehicle and they mention that it has dual-side airbags, the consumer should not have to worry about the company lying to them about it. I have driven the vehicle for about nine years with the assumption I had dual airbags in my vehicle to recently find out that I been lied to for the past nine years. Now, I am being held responsible for a defect that should have been corrected during the certification of the vehicle. This is unfair have the customer pay for someone elses mistake. They are now refusing to correct the mistake.
Approx 1 year after purchasing the car, the passenger side airbag light came on showing the air bag was not working. I took the car to the Toyota dealer and was told they would have to recalibrate it, and I was charged approximately $90. 00 for the work. . It worked for approximately 2 weeks, at which time the light came on again showing the air bag was not working. I do not know if the airbag is defective or not, but I cannot afford to pay $90. 00 every two weeks to have an airbag re-calibrated. I have had no accidents with the car and the driver's side airbag is okay. What should I do.
I bought a Toyota Camry 2006 from maple hill auto group in kalamazoo, mi in March of 2011. The car had 49,202 miles on it at the time. When I test drove it, I noticed the airbag light was on. I expressed concern to the salesman who indicated "OH, that's just a sensor issue, that can be fixed quickly. " I purchased the car with some reservation about the light. When I picked up the car, the light was off (they had taken it to the local Toyota dealership to fix). Everything was fine for about 5 months in August when the light came back on again. I returned it to maple hill auto and was told by the salesman that "the airbag light was not part of powertrain warranty and therefore would not be fixed. I then took it to the Toyota dealer who informed me that they could "tweak"it again but in evidently the entire front seat may have to be removed at a cost of about $3000, which of course I don't have. So they "tweaked" it again and it was okay for a while. Now, July 2012, it has come back on again. On my sales agreement with maple hill auto it states "dealer will repair air bag light issue. " obviously, this has not happened. The car only had 49,000 miles on it when the light was on originally. The original warranty for Camrys is supposed to be 60,0000 miles for this issue. I feel that I have been scammed and lied to by the dealer who only took it to Toyota to get the light temporarily off so I would buy the car. I believe they knew it was a more serious issue because I believe Toyota told them it would be a recurring problem. Now I feel stuck as I cannot afford to replace a seat and I don't feel a 2006 Camry I paid $12,350 for should have this issue. Aren't they supposed to be about safety? now I am forced to drive around in an unsafe car, including with my grandchildren. I think maple hill auto should fix this problem at no cost to myself.
The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Camry. While parked, the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel and stayed on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technicians stated the sensors could be reprogrammed but they could not guarantee that would repair the failure. The technicians stated if the reprogram did not work the front passenger seat would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 47,217.
It had only been about 1 or 2 months since I had purchased the vehicle and one day when I got in the car the cover of the side driver air bag was hanging. I called Toyota dealership and they said to take it back. They basically glued it back. This happened another 2 times but they said it wasn't a defect. They said it was due to the texas heat. The cover is super glued on but when I go thru a rough road the air bag light turns on and off. For the last few months the air bag light has stayed on permanently.

The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Camry. The passenger side air bag light illuminated immediately after the vehicle was turned on. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the vehicle needed a new rear crash sensor as well as a new passenger seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 66,000.
Passenger airbag light remains lit whether or not a passenger is sitting in the seat.
The airbag light keep coming on when I either go through a car wash or if some taps my front-end while parking. Dealer refuses to verify if they have had any similar complaints.
