In an accident where this vehicle rear-ended an explorer at about 30 mph, neither airbag deployed. Camry has extensive front-end damage with all front-end systems pushed back into engine and wheels. Police at scene wondered why there was no airbag deployment, and towing and fire (medical) personnel used extreme caution until sure the airbag system was in fact disarmed by removal of battery.
Consumer's vehicle was hit on left front driver's side door by another vehicle traveling at 40 mph. Upon impact, none of airbags deployed.

My brother was involved in a fatal crash in a new 2002 Toyota Camry xle, the accident occrured in north carolina and is being investigated by the highway patrol. The car left the highway and rolled over eventually impacting a tree. The car was equipped with front, side, and side curtain airbags. No airbag deployed in this accident. I believe the lack of airbag deployment was contributory to my brother's death.
Vehicle was involved in a frontal rear end collision at 50 mph, driver received severe injuries from air bag deployment. Dealer was notified.
Vehicle was parked for 10 hours, consumer started vehicle, and driver's airbag deployed, causing burns to consumer's hand and arm. Toyota refuses to replace airbag under warranty, saying consumer caused it.
The powdered chemical on the exterior of the airbags caused skin burns when the airbags deployed. This was particularly severe with respect to the driver of the vehicle, who burned, blistered, and has had residual rash and medical treatment for the chemical burns to the chest area, two months after the crash. I have been told that these types of airbag injuries are more typical of the first-generation airbags, but very atypical of airbags that would be installed in a 2001 model vehicle.
At approximately 35mph t vehicle was hit head-on, caving in front end. Upon impact, air bags didn't deploy, forcing consumer forward with enough impact to bend steering wheel.
While driving about 25 mph consumer hit edge of a bridge head-on. Upon impact, neither airbag deployed.

While traveling at 35 mph dry pavement, another driver made a quick turn right in front of consumer, consumer was hit on driver's side and knocked off the road, and hit a tree head-on. Upon impact, none of airbags deployed. Driver sustained head and knee injuries, and passenger broke left foot.
Driver seat broke into a reclining position during rear impact collision - after being pushed into two other vehicles, for front end impact, neither no airbag deployed - I am concerned that had the vehicle impacted me harder and come into the back seat a little more, the reclining driver seat would have resulted in severe head injuries if not worse.
When older son was driving about 25 mph vehicle collided with another vehicle head-on. Younger son was riding on passenger's side when air bags deployed, causing serious injuries to passenger.

I was very suprised to see that when I did hit the car in front of me the air bags did not come out or deploy, our seatbelts did not lock. No one was hurt. God forbid this to happen again because I don't know if the air bags will come out the next time or that the seatbelt will lock up. I was going about 75 mph on interstate 45 between parker and crosstimbers, there was an accident that occured on the shoulder-I was in the left lane and all of a sudden everyone started braking. I felt I stopped in enough time. I slammed on the brakes and slid a great distance before hitting the minivan in front of me. A scratch on the black bumper is all that happened to the minivan. If I pressed on the brakes, why didn't the seat belts lock, why didn't the airbag come out? I don't know.
During vehicle collision the front end of the vehicle was badly smashed, however the frontal air bag experienced no deployment.
