My complaint is about the front suspension of my Camry> suspension appears to be off from factory and it causes uneven wear of the front tires> my vehicle has about 52 k miles and it's had 4 sets of tires already. It has been aligned 3 times and the alignment shop says there is no issues. My mechanic says he has seen the same problem with many Toyota Camry's. This problem has been continues since I purchased this vehicle brand new.

Front supension makes clunking and banging noise when driving over even small pot holes. Noise gets much worse with larger pot holes. Noise started around 25k miles. Suspect front struts and strut mounts.

Vehicle shimmies and vibrates from front end at all speeds. Particularly bad between 40-50mph. At high speeds, not as noticeable, but loud wump-wump-wump noise emanates from front end. Brakes pulsate when decelerating, particularly noticeable at speeds from 50-40mph. This has been problem since car was new. Dealer has responded with balancing tires several times, then replacing. Unfortunately, problem still exists and no resolution pending. Also, car has had a tendency to pull to the left at speed.

Since I purchased my vehicle on 3/30/02 it has been in the shop 6 times for the same alignment problem that I feel has is now and has alway been a major safety problem. I no longer drive my vehilce due to the safety factor.
This vehicle continues to change direction suddenly and without warning. I have been close to hitting another vehicle on several occasions due to the vehicle veering out of my lane. The vehicle has been out of alignment on four separate service calls at 2 different dealers, yet the problem continues. I find this vehicle to be completely unsafe and impossible to drive without continuously fighting the wheel to keep it in my lane. Mr.
While driving vehicle continuously pulled to the left. Dealership replaced the rack and pinion, and performed a front end alignment, but the problem recurred.
Vehicle will continuously pull to the left or right when consumer is driving. Consumer to gettires replaced due to alignment not being corrected. Contacted dealer ,and the dealer wasnot willing to do anything.
Front suspention sounds loose when going over bumps in rapid concession. Getting louder every day and can't pinpoint the problem.
Vibrations in the front end of 2001 Toyota Camry from day of purchase. . Above 65 mph vibrations can be felt, pretty severely at times, in the steering wheel and on the floor board, near the feet. Dealer has agrreed that there is a problem. Dealer has attempted 5 times over last 2 years to fix the problem: wheel balancing, new tires, new right front axle, new wheels. But vibrations are actually getting worse.

Vibration in front end beginning within 2 months of purchase in Jan 2001. Vibration has grown progressively worse especially on rough pavement or dirt raods. Also a popping noise front front right corner when turning steering wheel to either limit.
While traveling between 55 and 65 mph a vibration occurs in vehicle under normal operation. Dealership could not duplicate problem, and could not assist consumer. During the week of June 11th, accelerator stuck while vehicle was in operation. Dealership again stated they could not find anything wrong with vehicle. Consumer noticed cruise control was not working properly shortly after purchase, it would cut in and out and jerk vehicle, dealer adjusted terminal of jumper switch wire to ensure good contact and adjusted cable of the cruise control a couple months later, now consumer experiences problems with the accelerator sticking without the cruise control turned on, cruise is still experiencing problems while on, rpms are running high while at stops, and accelerator is sticking. While applying brakes when they are heated up, they get hard and cause vehicle to vibrate.
Whenever vehicle ran over a bump/pothole, etc. , it caused hard banging noise under front of vehicle. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle out of its warranty, and not covered under a recall. Consumer states that dealer says strut parts are on back order due to the problem being nationwide.
Vehicle drifts to left at any speed at any time. Vehicle has been taken to dealer. Dealer said nothing wrong with vehicle.
Front end has vibration. The more vehicle accelerates vibration gets worse. Dealer has tried 6 times to repair problem by balancing wheel/ front alignment and replacing front axle on both sides. The remedies have not worked.
Consumer had handling problems. Took vehicle to dlr, and dealer said that wheels are making tires wear, causing a safety risk.

Noise coming from front end when going over bumps, at any speed. Took the car to our independent mechanic and he determined that both front strut assemblies had failed. Vehicle had approximately 55,000 miles. Contacted Toyota customer service and they denied knowledge of any problem. Our mechanic ordered parts, 2-3 week nationwide backorder. We tried all of the Toyota dealers in the washington, DC area. (the only place to obtain these parts. ) 55,000 miles is much to early for these component to fail and the backorder would indicate that a problem is surfacing that Toyota doesn't want to admit.
Vehicle has an alignment problem, it's taken in approximately every 10,000 miles to be adjusted. Front alignment on passenger's side always goes bad first, then on driver's side. Dealer thinks it's consumers driving, and does not see it as a problem.

Front suspension started rattling at around 40,000 miles. Took to dealer. Dealer acknowledged technical service bulletins have been issued regarding the problem and repaired the defective components at a cost to me of $342. 00. Toyota refused to cover under warranty. I know from NHTSA complaints and consumer reports data that this is a very common problem. However, Toyota refuses to cover as I am over the 36,000 mile warranty limit.
There is a sqeak coming from the front end when I go over small bumps/dips in the road. Toyota recommended the replacement of tie rods, which did absolutely nothing. The noise continues and has increased in severity. The air conditioner smells when using it. It smells like mold. I have taken it to the dealer, but all they do is spray it with frigi-fresh, which only masks the smell for a short while.
The 2000 Camry le with 15" bridgestone potenza tires I purchased new in Aug. Of 2000 vibrates at speeds of 65mph and above. The dealer serviced the car (only 900 miles on it), and said the vibration must be a tire problem and sent me to a tire dealer. The tire dealer said the tires were good but one wheel was out of balance. The road test indicated a small improvement and the Toyota service dept. Said it's not our problem, it's a tire problem; but balanced the wheels on a Jaguar service department's wheel balancing machine. The vibration seems to have improved slightly, and Toyota service has scheduled a Toyota representative to test drive the car in October 2000. It will be helpful if you can inform me of all similar complaints (I found 3 at your website) on this vehicle.
0while driving at highway speeds vehicle shakes very hard which may cause a loss of vehicle control. Took vehicle to dealer, and they balanced the tires twice. Third time, they replaced all 4 tires and changed 2 wheels. Please provide further information.
While driving vehicle between 60-70 mph, there was a lot of shaking and vibration in front end. Also, when applying brakes it pulled to the left or right. Vehicle has been taken to two dealerships 5 times. All the tires have been changed twice, balanced 5 times, brakes adjusted twice and wheel alignment was done twice. Problems with the vehicle continues.
Toyota's regional tech. Rep tells me he knows of no other similar problems. Obviously, from reading this website that is not true. I am pursuing the lemon law in my state.
Steering wheel and front end shakes and vibrates.
This car has had a left pull since day 1. The tires have been rotated, 2 replaced, nverted, inside out, alidned, and realigned, and nothing stops this drift, which becomes a stong pull at highway speeds.
Car veers to the left for no reason. Dealer found nothing wrong, but said vehicle needs new tires. This problem occurs under snowy and freezing conditions while traveling 20 mph. Problem still exists.
While driving around 70 mph, front end shimmies and vibrates. Vehicle has been taken to two dealerships four times. Neither dealership has been able to do anything about the problem. Please provide any further information.
Brakes continue to fail intermittently even though a brake kit was installed at 4,000 miles. New master cylinder was installed as well. At times brakes go all the way to the floor and car does not stop. Suddenly loud noise happens and car jerks and stops. All struts have been replaced and solved crunching noises. Relay switch installed to solve lock problem. Car is falling apart before my eyes!!.
Just before 30,000 miles my right font suspension began to rattle occasionally. The car now has 93,000 miles and the rattle is still heard now and then. Numerous trips to the shop have not turned up any cause.
I have returned my car to the Toyota dealers on four occasions, three times for a vibration in the steering wheel and body, Toyota has told me this is normal for this vehicle and proceded to put used tires from a demo with 5000 miles on to my vehicle, I then lost the power steering completely due to pump failure. I told Toyota I would file for arbitration and they told me when they receive the forms they will then try four new tires and rims as a last time repair. I am not happy with Toyota and believe if this vibration is normal then Toyota needs to do a recall and make necessary repairs.
Vehicle experienced problems with front end, upper strut mounts replaced twice, stabilizer and bushings replaced, and front end alignment, due to front end problems the tires were also replaced, consumer wants reimbursement.
Brought Camry new 1999 replaced rear brakes at 9776 miles as well as rear drum told this was normal, 17472 complete front brake job, at 17472 miles replaced complete disc brakes, mounted two tires and had 4 wheel alignment, brought two more tires at 13724 miles, then 2 more tires at 29054 miles, once again wear and tear normal must be driver, another front brake job at 29981 miles and cleaned and adjusted rear brakes, then at 37738 miles rear tire worn and front tires chopped, at 38685 miles warrented brake pad front brakes and machined rotors at 40230 4 tires brought and installed, adjusted strut mounts, at 44016 miles adjusted and tightened front calipers and warranty for bearing set, conn. This car is a lemon and feel that you should not have to replace tires times 2 and brakes times 4 with only 44016 miles on car to date clb.
Vibration at speeds of 40mph and higher. Vibration most apparent at 60mph and higher. When steering wheel vibrates, car feels unsafe/unstable. Vibration is very apparent throughout the car. Hands shake and can feel in arms and legs. Vibration causes my lower back to hurt everytime I drive it. Never had back problems before. Dealer states that they reblanced the wheels. Claims the vibration is the road. However, no other car I've ever driven has had so much vibration. Can even see passenger seat constantly vibrating. Have taken the car to the dealer three times. Second time dealer states that they rechecked the wheel balance and phase matched front tire. Left car at dealer for three days they did not even look at the car. Dealer refuses to repair the car. Help! help! help!.
Sunvisor was flipped down to be used. It failed to stay in place. When making right or left turns, would hit driver's head. Vehicle was out of alignment. Been to dealer & informed by mechanic it was characteristic of vehicle. The problem would disappear after 500 miles. The wheels were not balanced. At the dealer 4 times for wheels. Both rear wheels could not be balanced.
