Goodyear 215 60r16 tires new as of Aug 2015. Hit a pothole, tire blew, $4k damage.
Drove home from work about 6:30pm (central) last night (10. 17. 2012). Parked in enclosed garage. Sat in the kitchen with my family. Heard a pop sound minutes later after parking. Went outside to investigate source of sound. Looked around car and discovered front passenger tire flat. The tire had blown just sitting in the garage! took tire off this morning and discovered it has a 1. 25 inch tear in the inside about half way between rim and the tread. There are no visible punctures or intrusions of foreign objects. To me this incident is strange in and of itself. But I am filing this report because this is the second time in a month that a general altimax rt tire has failed in an unexpected manner on my 2009 Toyota Camry le. The other incident happened on 09. 16. 2012. It was raining and I was driving on a city street at no more than 20-25mph. The tire failed with many evenly spaced long tears along the walls radiating from the center/rim out all around!.

I was traveling on the highway yesterday when my left front tire blew out(or what I thought was a blow out). I was in heavy traffic and was, by the grace of god, able to keep the car in control. When I was able to pull over, I found that my tread had completely separated from the tire and when it peeled away , it took part of my bumper away. I get regular maintenance on this car. I just purchased it a year ago. There was no indication of a problem, no noise, no "light" nothing. Just boom.

My 2007 Toyota with only 14,000 miles on it is already out of alignment and wearing the inside of the tires. I thought that I had a defective tire because of the thumping noise and was told by the dealer that it was because I did not rotate the tires. I had rotated the tires 1 time during the 14,000 miles and the rear tire was "cupping" the same as the front tire. This proved that the alignment was bad probably from the factory. I talked with the salesman at the dealer and he said that I should probably have an alignment done every 6 months. I have never had to get an alignment done on a new car until I bought new tires. They did not offer me anything even though the car is still under warranty. I feel that this is a safety issue due to the fact that if I were someone who was not aware of what was going on with my tires due to improper alignment from the factory and the tire would wear on the inside (as mine are) where it is not noticeable there could be blowout of the tire resulting in a serious accident and even death. I would like to see Toyota issue a recall on all 2007 Camrys for front end alignment or else reimbursement for those who have had to get their vehicle aligned (as I am about to) due to the fact the dealers are unwilling to warrant this work. I have read consumer web sights and there are a lot of these cars with the same problem. Please, in the interest of safety, make Toyota accountable for this failure of design.
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. While driving 40 mph, one of the toyo tires blew out. The following day, a second tire blew out as well. The dealer replaced the tires. The tire size and line were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 700.
Driving down the street one evening when I heard a noise coming from the front passenger tire. Pulled the car over to see that the tire had violently blown out releasing the hub cap and actually bending the rim. Upon further inspection the tire was shredded as if someone had put explosives under it. I placed the spare on the wheel well and attempted to drive. However, the alignment made such difficult. The car was towed, and the mechanic said that as a result of this tire explosion I would need a new axle, strut, knuckle, mud flap, and obviously a tire. He also said I was lucky that I was on the rode alone at the time and away from anything that I could have hit as a result of losing control of steering . Car is in the process of being replaced. And I have saved the damaged tire, as well as have pictures of the damage sent to the insurace company.
My wife was driving our 04' Camry limited edition with michelin p235/45/18 mxm4 factory installed tires at 70 miles an hour one tire blew out. The company was sent an e-mail outlining the incident. They ask us to bring the tire in to be checked. After examination we were told the failure was due to a small puncture the size of a tooth pick in the center of the tire. The rip in the tire where it blew was about 8" long and was right at the area of where the belt meets the side wall. The event caused my wife to become extremely upset. We have ordered 4 new tires from costco because my wife does not believe the company's findings. Upon further examination by me I noticed the inside of the tire rubber was extremely damaged only on one side that blew in a circle where the belt joins the side wall. The opposite side was in pristine condition. We have our cars dealer serviced routinely. The new tires have cost us more than $1000. 00 for 4 new tires. We do not accept the company's findings and wish to go on the record regarding this tire failure incident. The vehicle is still parked awaiting the delivery of the new tires which are not stocked any where locally.

My wife was driving our 1997 Camry v6 with ameri general g4s tires whose size is 205/65 r15 and dot # is a3ur 442 2301 and all of a sudden on rte. 287 north near 14b exit for bridgewater mall , the right rear tire just blew off into pieces. The whole tread just came off the rear wheel after a loud noise and when she stopped she found tire completely dis-integrated. It is the first time ever in our life that this kind of thing has happened and I am lucky that my wife is alive and nothing happened. But she is completely under shock and afraid to drive now. After analyzing the wheel at sts tire center, they just wanted to give 25% on new same tire and not acknowledge any defect with tire. I was completely surprised but realized later that "how will they accept fault openly"
however, when I called continental direct by phone, they asked me to handover the tire to them and I am afraid that they will definitely not reveal the real reason and just offer me probably free 1 tire replacement. Since I am aware of several such incidents in the news, I thought of contacting your office for proper action. Hope to hear from your office soon. I have also verbally complained over phone. Awaiting
