4 Tire problem of the 2015 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/01/2025

P20565r16 all four tires. These tires from bridgestone have a utqg rating of 640 a a with a "warranty" by the manufacture of 75,000 miles. The current set of tires on my car have approximately 18,000 miles and are very worn. The tire wear gauge reads 5/32 reaming tread. I doubt that the next 3/32 (5/32 - 2/32) will give me the remaining 57,000 miles. I buy my tires based on the utqg rating. It's a good indicator of tire wear and has been fairly reliable up to this point. I googled the tire to see if others have similar experience. The answer was yes. It appears that bridgestone has a problem with tire wear on these tires. Reviews all pointed to terrible tire wear. Sadly, my wife's car had firestone tires that we just replaced. Those had only 22,000 miles, but had a 600 utqg rating. It appears that firestone /bridgestone do not know how tear wear works. First time in my life I was this disappointed in a tire company, but firestone certainly had it's share of problems in the past. Someone needs to do an evaluation of firestone tire rating practice. For me, it's too late. Thanks.

5 Tire problem of the 2024 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/15/2024

Tire size p 235/45 r 18 factory installed on 2024 Toyota Camry, failed catastrophically at 3415 (+/- 5) miles. Vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-40 in knoxville, TN, when the tread separated completely after bilateral failure of the sidewalls about 2" from the beads. Car stability and control were compromised, but fortunately, vehicle was pulled to the shoulder without incident. Tire warning light came on at some point before failure (exact time unknown). Tire replacement cost is $300. Wheel suffered some damage but has not been assessed for repair cost. Replacement cost is estimated as $500. Toyota dealer (Toyota knoxville) inspected the tire and claimed it failed due to toad hazard. However, they are not tire experts, their inspection was casual, and they could not point to any specific damage from the supposed road hazard that would cause the catastrophic failure, and they have a conflict of interest in that they may be motivated to avoid warranty claims and sell new tires. The road-hazard scenario is implausible and unsupported by evidence. Th.

A tire bridgestone turanza el 440 size 235/4019 with 37000 miles had a catastrophic failure despite being inflated correctly. Neither did the tire hit anything. 12 Tire problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/28/2023

I purchased a set of 4 cooper ultra touring (235/45r18) tires in 05/2022. Within 40,000 miles of purchasing the tires, I was traveling on I-10 wb at approximately 70 mph when the vehicle started to shake violently. I pulled into the right lane and slowed down significantly and was able to make it to my residence safely. The very next day, I took the vehicle to a local goodyear franchise and had a new passenger front tire installed on 10/24/2022. The service tech advised that the passenger front tire was on the verge of separating and that was the reason for the vehicle shaking. On 08/28/23, I was traveling on I-10 eb and the driver's side of the vehicle started to shake violently again. I traveled in the right lane at a slow speed until I came up on a Toyota dealership in daphne, alabama. The service tech put the vehicle up on a lift and advised me that the driver's side rear tire had separated and the driver's side front tire had an uneven wear pattern on the inside edge. I had both tires promptly replaced. I have done my due diligence and have discovered many recalls on cooper tires as of late. The same descriptions I have read online are exactly what I have experienced with my two tires that have separated. I did check to see if these tires were apart of any recalls and they are not. One thing I would like to point out is that these cooper tires were apart of a promotion that tire choice auto service centers were running in the summer of 2020 to buy 3 tires and receive 1 free. For this reason, I do not know how many of these tires were sold as it felt like they were just trying to get rid of them as they were heavily discounted. I do suspect that these tires were made in the same factories as many that were recalled. These tires do have a 70,000 mile warranty and I am currently in the process of trying to get the tires from Toyota so cooper can inspect them for a refund. Reference #: 2003889624. Please let me know if you need more information.

13 Tire problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/09/2023

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry equipped with michelin tires, tire line: cross climate 2, tire size: 215/60/r16, dot number: 1ap4909cx2022. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, he switched lanes to avoid crashing into another vehicle in front that had stopped abruptly. The contact nearly lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle inadvertently swerved, and the contact felt as if the vehicle was going to flip over. Upon inspection, the contact related the failure to the design of the tires. The contact stated that the tires had no ribs, borders, or lateral grooves; the tires only had a v-shaped design along the tread. The tire store was made aware of the failure; however, the tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The tire failure mileage was approximately 25. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 224,000.

20 Tire problem of the 2020 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/21/2022

The tire size is 215/55r17. Within a span of 10 months, three of my tires have needed to be replaced, with one of them almost causing me a very serious car accident. The issue appears to be with the sidewall failing. The first time this happened was in September of 2021. I brought the defective tire to a local bridgestone retail center and my complaint/concerns were completely dismissed by the in-store employee and corporate. The employee contacted corporate on the phone and was told there were no recalls on my specific tires. The employee insisted that because there was no current “recall,” my tire was not defective. He also stated that I should “trust him” because he’s “been in the business for 25+ years”. Even though there was no nail or sharp object found, bridgestone had insisted that I must have ran over something. Relying on their knowledge and response in this matter, I went ahead and purchased the same exact tire at bjs wholesale club. ( I even took the tire to Toyota for inspection and they couldn’t find anything lodged in the tire or evidence to indicate that I ran over any object. They were completely baffled. ) approximately 2 months ago, a second tire had a very similar issue occur out of nowhere. It happened when I was not even a five minute drive from my house. Yet again, the issue was with the sidewall. The tire was damaged beyond repair and I had to get the “donut” put on so that I could drive my car to a tire center to purchase a new tire. Then (not even two weeks later) a different tire went flat in the same exact manner. This incident happened within less than 10 minutes from my house. Nothing appeared to have pierced my tire. I even returned to the area where it went flat and found no evidence of possible road hazards or sharp objects. The rips were located in multiple areas of the tire. This time the damage was much worse and once again the tire was damaged beyond repair. I am fully convinced the tires are defective.

Second incident September 22,2016 I was out of town, and the car started to repeat the same as in June. I pulled into a tire shop, and was told that it was the steel belt. Again, I explained to the gentleman that this was the second incident in less than a year of purchasing the car. He advised that the tire was defective from the manufacturer, or the car set without movement, prior to selling and the weather beat the tires. He placed the tire in the trunk of the car and advised me to contact the dealership. In both incidents: tire had to be replace because of the broken steel belt inside the tire wall.

Vehicle had 95k+ miles on it on date of tire purchase. Vehicle had 124k+ miles on it yesterday (June 11) when I had to replace the remaining two kumhos. Issue initially presented with strong pull to the right and within 100 miles there was significant vibration at any speed above 20 mph. Strong pull to the right was still occurring after tire replacement so I returned to auto repair shop and was told of same issue with a second tire. Second tire replaced 6/9/2016. During drive from FL to nc on 6/11/2016, car started to pull hard to the left with some vibration. I was able to safely exit in florence, SC, and firestone identified tire separation was occurring with the two kumho tires still on the car. ---- I have one of the tires that was replaced 6/11/2016. ---- please advise if you would like to have someone from NHTSA inspect this tire. --- I routinely have my car serviced every 5,000 miles per the manufacturer's recommended servicing interval, and have had these tires rotated at each routine maintenance service appointment. ---- these are very dangerous tires.
