Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Toyota Camry based on all problems reported for the Camry.
I was driving along and without warning the speedometer became erratic and then went to zero. As I was moving on a main road (limited access) I could not safely stop right away. Several other items on the instrument panel began to operate erratically. (these other items would not be considered safety items) before reaching an exit or other safe place the speedometer began to operate again. I got off on a general main street and all seemed ok in a few minutes the problem returned and the speedometer went to zero again after becoming erratic first. I can not trust the speed reading on a regular road or any road I may be driving to fast for some limiting condition or posting and not realize it. I am concerned for my safety and that of others. This has happened several times and then goes away but I can not trust the reading.

The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while his sister was driving the vehicle, while at a stop light, the engine continued to rev with the rpms increasing. The brake pedal was being pressed during the failure. The vehicle then experienced unintended acceleration and drove into the intersection. The contact stated that the failure had occurred later the same day for a second time. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 175,800.

Car does not accelerate from stop at a traffic light intermittently. This poses a risk/hazard as the car behind it closes on it and expects the car to move forward . The vehicle was recalled a year ago for a fuel pump that was supposed to cause the same issue. Its been replaced and the issue has shown up again and now cannot be reproduced by the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the mechanic was not able to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
The vehicle has a shudder at accelerating that will prevent proper acceleration. I had a few incidents where I needed to get out of a traffic situation that out me in danger and the vehicle almost stalled. I read about this shudder, Toyota das a warranty engagement notification-ze5. However it was for 8 years and under 150000 miles. I am well under 150000 but just over 8 years.

There was a recall on this Camry model 2012 to 2014 that the charlotte, nc dealership refused to cover. I am having a transmission issue that causes my car to shudder and vibrate at regular speeds. “shudder comes from the transmission, especially during the acceleration of the Camry models. It can be alarming for the driver and be a safety concern when the gears do not properly change during operation. When this problem persists over a significant period of time, it has the poetry to cause long-term damage to your transmission. Damage to your transmission can be costly and affect the overall performance of your Toyota…” -Toyota of west county website.

Abs module failure. This system keeps crashing despite having replaced the issue before. Please force Toyota to do a recall.
The vehicle shudders when switching from 2nd gear to 3rd gear at average acceleration and light load. It is an ongoing issue. Upon researching I found TSB sb0034-14r2 which appears to describe my issue. I took it to the dealer and they said I had to change the entire transmission, the torque converter and update the ecm software. When I called Toyota hq customer service, they said the previous owner was notified of the issue and they didn't bring it in. They were willing to fix it for free up to may 2022 and I bought it after that. What I don't understand is why they aren't willing to at least provide a free ecm software update since this is likely an issue that existed in the software from the time it was manufactured. Software updates don't require a large amount of labor or a change of parts and it could remediate this safety issue. The shudder could cause me to get in an accident and get injured.
When accelerating the car jerk before riding smooth.

Some times car will not accelerate no matter how much stepping on the gas pedal, car will slow down like its going to stop or no power to the car while car is moving/driving. All lights on the dash board lights up, one of them that is known is the "brake malfunction" light.
I was slowly pulling into a parking space at the nordstrom store in dunwoody, georgia, when the car suddenly self-accelerated, jumped the curb and hit a concrete pillar. The pillar was about 15 feet from the parking area curb. Pressing the brake did not slow the car.
There was unexpected and unintended acceleration that resulted in hitting a house and causing a lot of damage.

Dash cluster showed brake light and bas light on, tachometer and speedometer dropped to zero while going approx. 40 mph.
While stopped at a red light with my foot on the brake pedal only, the power switched from the battery of this hybrid vehicle to gas and started racing, causing the vehicle to accelerate and move through the crosswalk and into the intersection. ? had there been pedestrians in the crosswalk or traffic at the intersection, the outcome could have been tragic. I applied pressure to the brake which did not readily stop the vehicle until it had crossed into the intersection. Once the engine stopped racing and the car has come to a halt, I pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and tested it to determine if I could still drive it. I reported the problem to the dealer and they kept the vehicle for 2 days. I could feel the difference in the way the loaner vehicle performed. They indicated the problem was fixed although no other information was disclosed. Without reading the receipt, I drove the vehicle again, constantly alert to the problem and when the engine started racing and the vehicle started moving forward. I lifted my foot off the brake and kept slamming it against the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. I was recovering from an ulcer on the bottom of the second toe of my right foot which started bleeding leaving a wide hole on the underside of my toe. I reported this to my podiatrist who scheduled me for an emergency appointment. The phalanges in that toe were had been demolished by the force applied. The tendons had separated and the toe could not be salvaged. I was sent to the hospital to have the toe amputated and to see if the metatarsals could be spared. I went back to the dealership and the only work they did during the course of the week was to tint the windows that I begged them not to do. I have been unable to drive the vehicle.
On July 6, 2022 I was told by walser Toyota in bloomington, mn that they would not repair a known defective torque convertor part that was evidently under an extended warranty until March 21, 2022. The issue with the torque converter mimicked driving over a bumpy road until recently when it would stop my ability to accelerate while driving. In one incident it caused me to press the gas much harder than necessary in order to keep the car moving and nearly caused an accident. I was also pulled over and ticketed for speeding in a separate incident due to the unexpected acceleration caused by trying to overcome the effects of the defective part. I looked online and saw that thousands of other Toyota Camry owners between the years of 2012-2014 are experiencing the same unsafe driving as a result of thedefectivd torque convertor/transmission issue. However, Toyota failed to disclose this issue. They are stating they didn't feel it was necessary because it was not officially labeled a recall. I plan to seek assistance by any escalation means necessary. Toyota needs to be held responsible before any more people are injured or property is damaged.
Unsafe condition , throttle becomes unresponsive intermittently no response right after starting the engine , no messages on dash to alert driver like reduced power or any check engine light that will show a component dtc , vehicle has been twice at the dealer ship with no fix results, last time the computer was reprogramed but problem not corrected , they claim not be able to recreate condition , I am concern this may happen while the vehicle is driven changin lanes or passing other car.

Throttle pedal becomes unresponsive right after starting the car at times , I am concern this may happen while driving , dealership claims they can not reproduce the problem , second time back to the dealership the reprogramed the engine computer but problem continues, car is not cover under warranty , it is a 2019 Camry le with 2. 5 engine , they claim not been able to find the cause of the problem. Car has only 32,000 miles , and gradually the problem is becoming more often , can led to an accident.
I was going 45 to 50 mph and my car shut off in middle of highway and we barely got out of highway before getting hit there is recall on same kind of car for throttle body and that's what's wrong with mine so it has too be that they missed my car.

May 8 2022 the vehicle was parked when I took it out of park it accelerated even when I repeatedly slammed on the brakes it continued to accelerate. It caused me to hit another vehicle and almost into a house. Airbags didn't deploy either. . . . Prior to the incident a check hybrid system was the only warning I guess the vehicle had given. Which we had a appointment to get checked tomorrow. May 9th 2022.
I’m having problems with accelerating and jerking. I bought the car about 2 months ago and had to take it back to the dealer for jerking. They changed the tires and it helped with the jerk, but it still vibrates when it turns on. It also very slow when I accelerate. It can be dangerous when I’m turning in a intersection or freeway.
The vehicle is a 2019 Toyota Camry xse v6. It currently has 27,000 miles on it. On may 2, 2022 while crossing a busy 4 way intersection (35 mph) the car began to stall. The engine started to shake, impacting the ability to steer the car, the vehicle would not accelerate and nearly all of the dashboard lights turned on. It was taken to the dealership on may 3rd where a mechanic said a rock may have hit a sensor underneath the vehicle but that everything was fine. On may 4th while driving on the highway the same thing happened again. This time going around 65 mph. It was brought back to the dealership where they said it was a faulty ignition coil but that there were no oem parts available and it was backordered with no eta o repair. They advised to leave the vehicle as it was unsafe to drive. I asked why they didn't make me aware of it when it was brought in the day before and that they needed to fix it. I called Toyota corporate and about an hour later the dealership let me know they would repair it with an aftermarket part. They commented that ignition coils normally do not go out in vehicles under 100k but it has been seen frequently on the 2019 Camry xse v6 by the technicians. On may 6th the dealership claimed the vehicle was repaired. Driving back from the dealership on a local road (40mph) the same thing happened again. Dashboard lights turning on. Engine shaking the steering wheel. Car unable to accelerate. It was then taken back to the dealership again the same day. The dealership claimed to repair 2 ignition coils and that it should be fine. On may 11th the vehicle stalled again while driving on local roads (about 30 mph). It was again taken to the dealer where they claimed all 6 coils needed to be replaced at cost. I refused and claimed they needed to repair and left. On June 10th while driving on the highway (70mph) the same thing happened again. It was taken to another dealership. 3 coils replaced on 6/25. On 6/29 the same thing happened again.
I was stopped at a traffic light, on an uphill grade, for roughly thirty seconds when my 2016 Toyota Camry hybrid just started slowly accelerating. I looked down and my foot was still on the brake. The car then accelerated quickly. I turned into the left hand turn lane in order to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. The car then jumped the center divider and slam in the curb on the other side of the street before it stopped. At no time did I take my foot off the brake. There was only minor damage to the front bumper, but I destroyed two plants in the center divide. (I do not know, as of yet, if there was any damage to underneath of car. ) as I was less than two miles from home, I drove the vehicle home. The next business day I had the vehicle towed to the Toyota dealership in san juan capistrano, CA. I told them of the problem and they immediately notified corporate. Corporate has taken possession of the car and said its investigation will take 30 days. I was not offered a loaner car.

When my car takes off it hesitate to move and when it does it take off. Something in the tires pop when you drive.
I have experienced issues with my vehicle when shifting since 2017 withal minor “shudder” after shifting into a higher gear. Now, my vehicle has begun to have trouble shifting from first gear to second. When shifting, the vehicle will abruptly stop before catching in second gear and continuing. It has become a concern as I am not confident to pull out onto busy roads.
My car has recalls on it and I want to get this fixed.

Firstly I have experienced some weird behavior when accelerating from a stop and the vehicle quickly ramped up the rpm over 5k without shifting at all until correcting itself at the speed I was desiring. I wasn't stepping hard on the pedal at all and was just trying to get to 30 mph. Additionally I experienced some hard shifting when accelerating abruptly as well. Making the acceleration not very smooth when passing someone in high speed traffic.
I was driving about 70 mph on interstate 95 and all of a sudden my car shut off while going 70 mph my check engine light and the traction control light came on the car came back on while still going 70 mph picked up where it left off it was a bit scary.
Drove a new 2022 Toyota Camry le with 15 miles. Notified dealer that several safety and infotainment systems were non operational. Vehicle had multiple warning light related to these systems. Notably, the adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, parking collision warning, and rear cross traffic warning were all stated to be non-operational by the vehicle's dashboard. Several warning lights were illuminated. Furthermore, the radio and infotainment system was non-operational, which also means that the rear backup camera was non-operational. The technician at the issuing dealer stated that the "pil" had to be replaced.

While driving have noticed shuddering at random times. Car just now has 134k on it and the service records never showed what computer update was done. Was unaware of any issues with torque converter issues. Have had cruise control set to speed limit and had car acceleration up to 25miles over speed set, car has also slowed down without anything being changed. Went to dealership because torque converter TSB and was told it was out of warranty in Aug 2021. Had ecm reprogrammed with original owner in 2014. . . Toyota knew this was an issue and never corrected parts.

I have had issues with the breaks since I purchased the vehicle. The first recall I got the vacuum pump replaced. I still have the same issue. I have been having the break issue but recently had an issue slamming on my breaks after someone was coming around the corner too fast in my garage and feeling pushback from the break petal and not breaking fully. I actually did hit her care but she only had scratches and decided not to file a claim (I have the date and pictures as well). I bought this Camry feeling confident and I actually worry about my breaks I even got them replaced thinking they were worn out but I still have the same issue.
The brake & abs lights started coming on although there was no apparent problem. Then, when those lights illuminate on the instrument panel, the speedometer & tachometer stop working. Often, the needles will bounce or they will just set at zero. This can occur at any speed & on all road conditions. This does not affect cruise control in anyway. I can set & stop the cruise control at any time. Eventually, it starts working again but it is totally random. Now, the air conditioning stops working when the abs & brake lights are on. The high beam instrument panel lights are also affected. The headlights work but the instrument panel does not always reflect this or it shows that high beams are on when they are not & vice versa. My mechanic could not identify the source of the problem. My research shows that the abs module is defective & the problem occurs in 2007-2009 Camrys. Apparently, this problem can be bypassed by disengaging the abs module, but obviously, that creates other issues. I have video of this activity but I am unable to upload it here.

After owning this vehicle for almost 4 years, the "jerky" feeling that other individuals have faced is still there, although not as severe now after I figured workarounds. However I do not like having anyone else in my vehicle as they tend to get visibly uncomfortable once they feel that jerk while the vehicle is in motion. It is nearly impossible to have a smooth transition when the vehicle has to slow down and accelerate immediately. There is almost always a significant 2-3 second delay when you have to accelerate quickly into moving traffic. If I let my foot off the gas while in motion I can feel the gears thud while in motion to accommodate for the loss in speed. Dealerships I've went to have reset the 'software' multiple times and say that the jolts are something I have to get used to and that the car 'learns' from your driving habits. A Toyota dealership rep also told me that Lexus's have this problem too. Clearly this is something that Toyota has not paid attention to since they overhauled and completely redesigned their 2018 lineup. A vehicle is not a pet and should not have to be trained. I am unsatisfied with how Toyota does not seem to be addressing this common transmission issue and offering repair services. The only workarounds I have experimented with myself and found some degree of success is 1. Turning off eco mode 2. Not using the cheapest gas (if located in socal use #89 when financially able. Costco gas seems to deliver good results). 3. Fully warming up the car before operating for the first time 4. Accelerating gradually (do not step on gas pedal hard) 5. Avoid braking hard (do not tailgate others and allow proper distance between yourself and other drivers) these steps only lessen the severity of the jolts felt but does not totally eliminate them. I don't feel 100% safe while driving this vehicle and am planning on selling it as soon as payments are done.

I was driving my 2006 Toyota Camry on a level residential road at 35 mph and stopped at a red light. Upon turning left, the car unexpectedly accelerated at a high speed. I stepped on the brakes but the car did not stop nor slow. I was driving towards a very busy intersection. I tried to shift the gear to park, but the car was still running out of control. I turned left onto a side street in order to avoid the intersection. I was going too fast and jumped the curb, crashed into a Toyota tundra truck parked on the driveway, and ricocheted into the retaining wall of the neighboring property. I was wearing my set belt, the airbag deployed and hit my chest. There were long tire marks on the street and a witness reported the squealing sound of brakes. Paramedics and police arrived immediately. My blood pressure was checked and I was advised to go to the er. In the hospital, I was checked for reflexes, stroke and heart problems and got a x-ray of my chest. Everything was ok and I was sent home after 5 hours, although my chest was severely bruised and painful for about 2 weeks. It took me a month to drive again. I kept thinking about what caused the accident. I am certain that mine was a case of sudden unintended acceleration. While there were over 7 million Toyota cars subject to unintended acceleration recalls from 2005-2012, my 2006 Toyota Camry was not included in these recalls.
