Break actuator, 2nd event event 1 complaint number 11234969 23 July 2019, dropped my car off with Toyota clovis same dealership (jacob was my rep) because my brakes was making the creaking sound/thumping. I asked him to check my brakes and if that wasn't the problem, call me to let me know what the problem was. He called me later that day and said it was the brakes, they went ahead and changed the brake pads. He said they recommend to change brake actuator fluid? since it wasn't done when they changed the actuator previously and he was going to charge me. I commented that it should have been done back in 2017 when the brake actuator originally failed. I asked if it would affect my car, drivability, etc. And jacob said no it should drive fine with no problems other than a few settle sounds. He said but the brakes are fixed and it's no longer making the sound/ thumping. So I declined the fluid service. 25 July 2019, I was going to get my daughter from school. By then, it had started to make the cheaking noise/thumping. I got just about to her summer school (on fowler Ave) and all of the lights on my panel lit up again. I pulled over and called my husband. I drove it home slow. We called Toyota, spoke to the manager, explained that this had happened before. I just paid them $240 for brake pads that I didn't need. I refused to drive the car. The dealership was closing in 1. 5hrs which left no time for tow truck. My husband drove it to the dealership, I followed in his car. Toyota (jacob) gave me a loaner. 25 July 2019, the manager called and said the issue was the brake actuator failed again but because the part which is obviously a defective (manager actually agreed) was only covered for a year, I'd have to contact corporate to see if they could change it out at no cost. I will call tomorrow (26 July 2019). . . Although, I do not plan on ever driving this car again.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Tl - the contact owns a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 70mph he heard an abnormal noise that came from the back of the vehicle. The contact stated that when he checked the back brakes they were very hot. The contact stated the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as NHTSA id number: 11115282. The vehicle was taken to a dealer billion auto- Toyota in sioux falls (4101 w 12th st, sioux falls, DE 57106. 605-309-0979) who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the brake pads had stuck and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not provide a resolution and provided case number: 210160578. The failure mileage was approximately 24,250. Jc.

I have been feeling from last 2 or 3 days that my Toyota camry brakes were not working right and they required additional pedaling to brake and somehow I was able to feel that it was taking extra time and distance to stop and was planning to show this to Toyota dealer today , I have talked about this during previous service with Toyota service center during my previous service & they told me everything was ok and my brake pads were good,but unfortunately my fears came true today then when I was driving 20-25mph and suddenly a car ahead of me almost 20-25feet ahead braked and I pushed hard to brake but I could feel it was not braking right or the hybrids braking system has failed and my car didn't stop in the right time and we hit the car ahead of us.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

On Nov 25th, 2013 around 9:30pm I was driving home from work. A couple of minutes in to my driving my brake stopped functioning. I tried to slam the break, but the car didn't stop. Thankfully, there weren't lots of car on the road. I drove on the side grass for few hundred yards and finally managed to stopped the vehicle. The next day, I took it to the near by shop and they suggested that I should replace the break since the car wasn't able to stop. After spending $650 to replace the breaks and break pads, I left the shop. After 6 months the check vsc system light came on. I took it to Toyota dealership and they told me that I've to replace abs break actuator and quoted me around $3700. I didn't have that much money to spend, so I started searching for alternative on the internet. That is when, I ran in to this site where people are reporting the issues that their 2007-2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid are having. I would like Toyota to resolve this issue and fix my car. I need a way to get around and go to work. This is my only source of transportation and I need it on the road again as soon as possible. Thank you!.

Braking while driving or when in park mode a knocking sound is heard; braking uneven but (pulsating) however currently there are no issues with coming to a stop. No warning lights on; had it seen by Toyota dealer - no problems identified with diagnostics; recommended changing brake pads, which did not resolve the problem, 2 additional visits to dealership - and after a cost of over $500 today they mentioned that it was the actuator and would take an additional $3244. 50 to replace. Sooner or later the brakes were likely to fail making it unsafe, called Toyota but was told there was no recall or problems with the 2007 Camry Hybrid models - but the NHTSA website has multiple similar posts. Hope to get some meaningful response from Toyota. Will come back and update as I have some feedback from the company.

I was only driving my vehicle about a mile when it first happened. I was approaching a stop light and attempted to apply the brakes. Nothing happened. The steering went out and the brakes felt like they weren't catching. Thankfully, I was only going about 25-30 mph, and had enough space to stop before hitting another car that was stopped at the light. I looked at the dashboard display and noticed something that read, "check vsc system". There was also a warning triangle. The camry manual instructed us to bring it to the dealership - but I can't afford that. The next day, it worked fine. A few weeks later, the incident happened again while I was exiting the highway and coming to a red light. I was decelerating from about 65 mph to a full stop and felt the brakes give again and the steering was difficult. I was able to pull over, turn off the car, and restart and it was fine again. I had the brake pads changed, but don't understand what is happening. We didn't have the problem for several months. But now it feels like the brakes want to give when I am idling in traffic. While my foot is on the brake, the car will squeak and subtly jerk forward like the brakes are about to give up the ghost. It's really scary, but I can't afford another car at this time. I've looked into the vsc system and don't understand why that would intermitently affect my braking and steering ability.

The brake actuator malfunctioned and the brakes began pulsating and groaning when applied. This happened on the baltimore washington parkway. Braking power was greatly reduced and I had to coast to a stop in the shoulder of the highway and slowly make my way to an exit ramp as it was too unsafe to continue driving at speed and I was worried that the car was a danger to myself and other drivers in that condition. The brakes would pulsate/groan whenever the car was in drive and they were applied. When I took the car to a Toyota dealer for servicing two days later (I did not drive the car at all in the interim), they told me that there was a problem with the actuator and that it would need to be replaced. This cost $2156. I had replaced the brake rotors, pads, and had a brake fluid flush completed just 2 months before in this vehicle. From the documents on file with nhsta, my incident appears to be a common problem with this make/model/year car. As this could have easily caused an accident, I believe Toyota should be responsible for ensuring that the actuator is recalled and that others are not put into the same, potentially dangerous, situation.

I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid. In July of 2012, the brake actuator broke in my car resulting in damage to my car. The brakes lost "power" and then would go in and out at will. I then spent $1,200. 00 on a 3rd party company to replace this part, only to have it go out again in 6 months. The brakes function at will, and I have been quoted upwards of $3,000. 00 by Toyota to fix. I have been told that to have this fixed properly, it needs to be fixed by Toyota as they have since fixed the part in question. I have never been notified of a recall concerning this issue, and Toyota is very reluctant to drop price at all to help me fix, even considering this is the 2nd time to fix it, let alone pay for the damage to my car because of this part. Insurance would not fix car because they considered damage was from a known issue. I have also been advised not to purchase used parts to replace as they will also fail, unless I pay $$$ to Toyota for there corrected part to fix. As of today my brakes are still not fixed, and burning though brake pads in little as 2 months as a consequence.

I called Toyota's customer assistance line. I was hung up on twice because according to the recorded message they had too many calls so I would have to call back. . I then called again and got put on hold for 2 hours and 8 minutes. I was calling because I had just come from the dealership for the accelerator pedal and floor mat recall. They told me that my 2007 camry with just 29,700 mile on it had bad break pads and rotors and I need to spend over $900 to have the breaks repaired. I told the dealership I need to talk with someone at Toyota. They gave me the customer assistance number to call. After I reached a representative I was told they would look into it and get back to me tomorrow. Because I did not receive a call back I went on the web and found a Toyota technical service bulletin saying that the 2007 camry had bad break pads that would cause premature wear. It said do not tell the customers about this unless they complain. I called Toyota again; this time waited 1 hr for someone to answer. They said that the customer service bulletin t-br007-07 was not for me but for the dealerships. I said well is says that the break pads installed in my car we defective and should be replaced, she said, that is only if you complain. I said, well I am complaining. Then I asked to talk with a supervisor. She said that was impossible today I would have to wait till Monday. I said, I have a car that is dangerous to drive, and I want to resolve the issue today. She said that is impossible. I said I will call back and ask to speak to a supervisor, she said no one will let you talk to a supervisor. To say I am upset is an understatement. The car company has an internal document stating that my break pads are defective, but never tells me. I was just lucky that the service technician looked at the breaks when rotating my tires and discovered the problem. I and I and my family could have been injured or killed. We could have killed.

We took our camry to a break shop due to weak performance and loud screeching sound. After inspection the mechanic said that the rear break pads were metal on metal and the fronts were not even broken in. This was most likely an indication of a problem with the abs system for which I would have to take the car to the dealer. We went straight to the dealer and they first refused to check it out then when we insisted, they took the car around the building and said there was no problem. All throughout the time we always had issues with stopping at a reasonable distance, the car losing control in wet weather and the feeling of always driving on ice. We learned later on that my 14 year old daughter was driving the car without a driver license and rear ended another vehicle. When asked, she said that she hit the breaks but the car didn't stop. We always thought that this was due to her inexperience but now we think that it was because of the problem with the breaks. About about a few month ago the abs, break, vsc lights intermittently started coming on and now they're on full time. I always suspected that there was a problem but the dealer said there was no problem and dismissed us and had no choice but to take their word for it. I just came across an article online that said ntsb was investigating a similar issue and wanted to offer our help if you need it. We still have our vehicle but it was repaired after the crash. My daughter had to go to the emergency room due to neck pain. We certainly didn't appreciate her stealing the car without a license but are thankful that she's ok.
