14 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 04/08/2019

My Toyota Camry Hybrid has had episodic braking problems. After starting the car and driving for a few minutes, occasionally when I step on the brakes to slow/stop the car the brake peddle needs to be pushed down to the floor. While this is happening I can hear the engine revving. It is necessary to push extremely hard on the brake peddle to stop the car. I have taken my car to mcgeorge Toyota and an independent repair shop for this problem. Neither found any computer codes indicating the problem. Toyota removed and lubricated the slide pins for the caliphers and then reinstalled the pins. This problem continues to occur. As this problem is episodic, neither the dealership nor the independent repair technician could duplicate the problem. I believe that there is a problem with the regenerative braking system related to the computer sending a wrong signal causing the engine to accelerate rather than allowing the car to stop normally. I have had several "close calls" where this unintended acceleration nearly lead to my hitting the car in front of me or not stopping at an intersection, potentially causing an accident or striking a pedestrian. .

However after further inspection, I was told that it would not be covered because there isn't any warning lights on the dashboard and/or no error codes present when hooked up to a scan tool even though the part is faulty and needs to be replaced.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 02/14/2019

I was driving my vechicle yesterday that was just in the shop since Saturday saying that they replaced everything that was wrong because previously my breaks locked up on I-95 and I couldn't stop. I got the vechicle back yesterday and I was driving home from work and my breaks failed again causing me to rear end the person in front of me. I could not stop. Absolutely no breaks!! the vechicle was in motion trying to come to a complete stop. I believe the abs break aculator / module in the vechicle is bad. The company whom I bought it from I believe should take responsibility for this accident considering they're the ones who stated they fixed the vechicle.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/17/2019

The first time the "check vsc system" (attachment) came up was about the first week of Jan 2019 when I was driving on a city street. Since I was on the right hand land I was able to pull over to the side. After I turned off the engine and waited for 1 minute and turn the engine back on, the message "check vsc system" disappear from the dashboard. When I got home and searched for this error message many people says this could be due to a loose gas cap so I make sure it's tighten. Then about 2 weeks later on Jan 17, 2019, the same issue happens again. This time I was in a parking lot and when I pressed on the brake pedal, the buzzer will chime before I even start the engine. When I start the engine then the "check vsc system" comes on and it doesn't go away. I tried to turn the engine on and off multiple times and it doesn't resolve the issue like last time. I also noticed when I step on the brake pedal, it provides virtually no break. It would take me a very long distance to bring the car to a stop and I am afraid to drive more than 25 mph. I took it to a mechanic for diagnostics and two codes came up for abs pump and abs motor. He tried to use his tool to turn on the abs pump it doesn't work. Then we found out about the brake warranty(attachment) but I when I went to the a Toyota dealer, the dealer said the warranty had expired on 3/14/2018 since the first date of use was 3/14/2008. I believe since the secondary warranty was for 150k miles and my car has only 121k miles on it, it should be covered. If I had drive 20k per mile per year, this issue would have appeared two years ago which was within the warranty period.

I tried to press the brakes at a stop sign and they do not engage or they would engage on a delay, vehicle took long time to stop. It was hard driving back and I was scared of an accident happening even after turning on emergency blinkers on my drive back home. Toyota needs to investigate it as it is a safety issue.

31 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/14/2018

The check vsc system error came on recently. It also came on a few years ago and then went away after a few days. It's now been up for weeks. The error that is triggering is c1391, and the repair shop says this is due to an abnormal leak in the accumulator. All of the brake-related lights are on constantly a few seconds after starting up the car and stay on until shutting it off. Sometimes the brakes randomly shut stop functioning as expected and do nothing when compressing. I didn't realize this was a recall when the car was still under warranty (and even after Toyota extended the warranty due to the fact this is such a wide and pervasive issue); otherwise, I would have taken it in to get it repaired as a precautionary measure. This repair was quoted to cost a minimum of $2,200. It would be ideal if Toyota would fix this part since it is a known issue and since no other major part of the car is faulty, even though the car has almost 200,000 miles on it. I feel Toyota has put lives at risk by not actively pursuing to contact owners of this model vehicle since the part they put on these cars is so faulty.

32 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/07/2018

Driving on a highway at 70mph when the dashboard lit up with several lights, including emergency, brake and abs, and a check vsc system indication. Luckily, I was able to cruise and carefully apply the brake at several intervals to stop. This is an ongoing and known abs actuator problem in 07 Toyota Camry Hybrids. The Toyota dealer will not cover the $3k cost to replace the actuator because it is past the 10 year limit. Please either issue a recall or extend the warranty. This is not safe for consumers.

33 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/04/2018

Brakes depress more and take more pressure to brake. 06/4/2018. Car vibrates when braking over 50 miles per hour. Brake fluid reservoir was replaced 10/22/2016.

34 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/12/2018

I own a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid I have had his car for 4 years and have been very satisfied with it till yesterday as I was driving down the road and my all the sudden this loud buzzing noise started I tapped the brakes and had no brakes I was going 55mph and had the brake to the floor with very lol brake I had to shift down to slow the car down thank god no one was in front of me or I would have wrecked. This is a faulty part from what I have read about and it's serious ! this should be a recall matter it's the braking system and brakes are needed ! my car has over 150000 so it did not qualify for the safety campaign. Also my understanding is there had to be a problem before it could be covered ! if I would have wrecked with my grandchild in this vehicle I would have a lawsuit against Toyota on this matter !! this needs to be looked into and should be recalled !.
