Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the esc warning indicator illuminated and a beeping sound started. The vehicle was towed to the dealer fox Toyota at fox family lane clinton tennessee 37716, they determined it was the brakes actuator and needed replacement. The vehicle was being repaired at the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000. Bp.
I was driving on the road at a speed of 35 miles per hour and all of a sudden the "check vsc system" light turned on my dashboard and the brake of the car became loose. When I try to slow the car down by applying the brake, it wouldn't let me do so. I was approaching the traffic light and I had to press the brake too hard so that the car can stop. Finally, I was able to stop it by applying the emergency brake.
Vsc system suddenly failed without warning while driving and breaks would not work.
Brakes on Toyota Camry Hybrid 2018 models grab abruptly when gentle pressure is applied on brake pedal. The brakes cannot be smoothly controlled like on non-hybrid models of the same year.

Faulty abs actuator and pump leading to difficult braking. Priming noise apparent during driving and while parked. Never received notice of service recall campaign from Toyota a few years back. Sadly, it is now a few months past the 10-year warranty and Toyota will no longer service the repair.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the brake system malfunctioned. The contact attempted to make a sudden emergency stop by depressing the brakes, but the vehicle would not stop. The contact crashed into the rear-end of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. I just purchased the vehicle used at a dealership only to find out that the burping noise coming from the brake actuator and the constant running noise every 7 seconds was the part needing to be replaced again . Toyota stated I had just missed the 10 year extension on the part replacement , even though the car has 70k miles on it ,and would have to pay approximately 1700-2600$ for this replacement. Recall this part Toyota! how long NHTSA ?.
The check vsc system was displayed in my totoya camry 2009 hybrid, this morning. The warning, abs, brakes, parking brake and skid control lights have turned on. From test driving the vehicle, it appears that the brakes seem less responsive.

I was driving my camry and as I approached traffic stopped at an intersection. I began to apply the brakes to slow down and stop when the brakes effectively quit. The instrument panel warning lights and warning horns began going off and I swerved off the road to avoid hitting the stopped cars in front of me. I down shifted the transmission and set the parking brake to bring the car to a stop. Needless to say it caught me by surprise and I am just glad I was driving and not one of my 16 year old twin boys! I was able to get into the parking lot of a close by gas station where I noticed the check vsc, brake and abs lights were all illuminated. At this point the brakes felt as if the power braking was inoperative. I slowly drove the vehicle to the nearest Toyota dealership and after doing a diagnostic test, the service team representative informed me the mechanic found the brake actuator is continually running. Losing pressure. although there I was able to avoid an accident, had the area to the right of the road not been clear, I would have probably hit several cars stopped at the intersection.
Vehicle brakes are best described as grabby at low speeds, e. G. , coming to stop sign or pulling into garage. The problem leads to jerky stop/go/stop/go/stop situations. Vehicle also has a tendency to bolt forward or backward when releasing brakes which has led to running into garage while backing up.
While driving down a busy city street the 'check vsc system' message suddenly appeared along with many other warning lights on the dash and a warning sound. Braking and steering became very difficult. Luckily, I was able to pull over into a parking lot and get out of traffic. My car has had every manufacturer scheduled maintenance service performed for the life of the car.
Brakes periodically grab severely when first driving the car. Usual occurrence is when first backing from garage or parking space and trying to ease the brake pedal. Brakes grab and prevent slowing the car smoothly. After driving for a dozen or so yards, problem doesn't reoccur--until is again parked for some time. This problem doesn't seem to be related to outside temperature/humidity but has existed over the past year since car was new. Now has 5000 miles. Returned to dealer twice but all tests reported ok and "could not duplicate" problem.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of braking ability. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was towed to swope Toyota (1085 n dixie hwy, elizabethtown, ky), but the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. The VIN was not provided.

Tl the contact owned a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid. While the contact's husband was driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle inadvertently accelerated without warning. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a brick wall. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,683.
While braking at very low speeds, the brakes on the car lock up at the slightest application of pressure on the brake pedal. This makes it impossible to maneuver in tight spaces (like garage or parking space) without neck-jerking sudden stop and go driving. The problem occurs intermittently, and most often after car has been parked for several hours. The problem has occurred in warm, humid florida, cold, wintry missouri, and on virtually every type of road surface and every type of weather.
Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at lower speeds in both drive and reverse the vehicle would experience hesitation and jerking. The contact indicated that the failure was more severe while driving in very cold whether temperatures and when the engine was not warmed up. In addition the braking distance was extended when pressing the break pedal to stop. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer craftsmont Toyota located at 730 rt. 23 n. Hampton plain, new jersey who was able to duplicated the failure but indicated that this was the characteristics the vehicle and no problems existed. The manufacturer was also notified and the contact was referred back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 1000. Jft.
Brakes are very 'grabby'. At slow speeds in traffic (<5mph) when you apply your foot to the break you come to an immediate stop (similar to slamming on the brake). At high speeds on the highway (>60mph) when you apply the break the car will also slow down as if you are pushing down hard on the break pedal. Driving in the snow / ice this winter was dangerous as the breaks locked up on several occasions resulting in skidding/sliding. There is no middle ground, lightly applying the breaks, or 'slow breaking'. You lightly apply the break and the car is slowing down immediately as if your trying to avoid a collision.
Brake actuator: my brakes were making a creaking noise /thumping when pressed. . . In which case I thought it was just time for regular maintenance. About 0430, December 21, 2017 (my wedding anniversary) I was driving on the highway 99south headed from fresno, CA to tulare, CA. . . About a 45min drive. While on the highway, my car started to make random chiming sounds that did not seem to come from anywhere particular. There was no indicator light associated with the sound. . . It was just random sounds I had never heard before. That went on periodically for the next 20-30mins. I finally made it to the prosperity Ave off-ramp and began to press the breaks. Immediately, all of the lights on my panel lit up and a steady, high pitch sound came on and I couldn't stop my car. I panicked, continuously trying to break pushing hard as I can. I ended up being able to lead it off the exit and into a popeyes parking lot next to the off-ramp where it eventually came to a stop. Thank the lord that no one was on the road that early in the morning. The car was towed from tulare back to fresno (Toyota corporate office would not refund that 200 bucks). Toyota dealership said it was the break actuator, it was a "warranty" that they'd cover at no cost. I asked why I wasn't notified since the situation is life threatening and there were no answers for that. Toyota had my car for about a month because I demanded they repair everything associated with the breaks. . . Quite honestly I was just afraid to drive the car. Eventually, I drove it again with my anxiety gradually diminishing. . . But by no means gone. I visited a mental health doctor to help, although it didn't. 23 July 2019, it went out again. Will post that event on separate entry.

Today, December 11, 2017, while driving my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid vehicle on a city street in traffic, the 'check vsc system' warning came on. All dash lights including 'brakes' came on and vehicle became difficult to stop. There was no power assisted braking. Brake pedal was hard to engage and when vehicle came to a stop, there was a single "knock or bang" sound. This warning had come on previously without braking issue until last week when my wife told me she had a similar problem driving home from work. I cleaned and subsequently replaced the gas cap as per a you tube described repair of the check vsc warning. I then drove the car intermittently since that time without incident until today. My wife experienced the problem 12/7/2017.
Since the car was delivered from the dealer, the brakes have continued to severely grab at low speeds as if a child is jamming down on the brake peddle. It is nearly impossible to ease the car into a parking space without the brakes bucking several times. Backing up causes the same bucking problem. The bucking is somewhat intermittent and the slower one is moving the worse it seems to be. The car has 8500 miles and the problem continues.
Since we bought the vehicle new, there is severe break grab at low speed's especially in bumper-to-bumper traffic have brought into the dealership more than one it's still not figured out.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. When the contact applied the brakes, the abs and vsc warning indicators illuminated. The contact had to apply force to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. A mechanic was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure due to the dtc not being illuminated when it was inspected. The vehicle was taken to a dealer (nashville Toyota north, 2400 gallatin pike n, madison, TN 37115, (615) 868-7990) where it was diagnosed that the brake actuator needed to be replaced with a warranty repair. The dealer and the manufacturer indicated that the warranty enhancement was no longer available and the vehicle should have been repaired before the campaign ended on August 31, 2017. The contact received no documentation from the manufacturer pertaining to the warranty enhancement program. The manufacturer stated that they were aware that the failure was a known issue and there was a technical service bulletin on the brake system. The contact refused to repair the vehicle and indicated that the contact needed to replace the part. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.
Maintenance light came on and gave it for service at Toyota dealership in fremont on 11/12/2017. They performed a 60,000 miles major service. Three days later, major break failure on 11/15/17. Toyota dealership and Toyota manufacturer refused to take responsibility. This is caused by replacing the break fluid and this is not necessary at 60,000 miles service. The car is at the Toyota dealership and they are asking for $4,000 to fix it. I read the consumer report and this is a known problem. Toyota should take full responsibility to fix this problem.

The hybrid batterie is not responding with the cars velocity. It turns off in the miďdle of my trip. I worry for my saftey and my families bcus I fear to have an accident due to that reason.
"abs actuator extended warranties", in 2014 my car had two issues with the abs actuator and my dealership was unable to get the diagnostic code from them. Now my car is displaying "check vsc system" and many lights on my dash. When I brought it in to my Toyota dealership they said it is the abs actuator and it needs to be replaced. Toyota had 2 extended warranties for trouble with the abs actuator. Both of these warranties have now expired so my abs actuator cannot be fixed under the extended warranties. Because of this faulty part at anytime I am driving I can lose braking and steering power. I had filed a complaint before with your agency for this exact issue but there was no way for me to have the part changed when the extended warranties were in-force because the problem did not occur and as I said earlier my dealership could not get the diagnostic code from the first time these issues occurred.
"abs actuator" Toyota knows there is an issue with the 2007 Camry Hybrid abs actuator, my dealership informed me 10/23/2017 that my abs actuator is going out. If this happens it will be hard to stop and or steer my car which is a very dangerous situation. I want to be sure this issue has been lodged with the NHTSA.
Brakes go to the floor. 3 years ago, there was a extended warranty enhancement for a internal leak in the brake actuator assembly (c1391). The repair was covered under the extended warranty. Now, the exact same problem has occurred again. However this time, its past the warranty period and is a going to a 2k repair. This is a major safety issue that should be a recall, not an extended warranty.
The brakes are very grabby at low speed (such as maneuvering in a parking space on a slight incline). The brakes suddenly become more effective (with the same pedal pressure) at city-street speeds as well as highway speeds. This has occasionally caused the abs to engage, with the car losing traction briefly in a straight line on a dry road when the brakes suddenly become more effective. This is a continuing problem since he vehicle was purchased in October 2017, which the dealer has refused to acknowledge twice, saying this is a new regenerative braking system (specifically different from the prius, which I cited as not having this problem).
Toyota Camry Hybrid 2007 engine oil burning too fast, I drive only 1500 miles after changed my engine oil. In the last time it was decreased 1100 miles. Also my engine covered by engine oils and liking everywhere. Second, I drove yesterday and my brake stuck and cant stop. It was happened me second time.
At all times, when the car is on, the abs actuator assembly is running almost constantly and there is an audible leak from the unit. The dealership diagnosed the leak in the anti-lock braking unit today and said it was not covered under Toyota's service extension program. I don't understand how this is not safety related, yet what brought me into the dealership was a safety recall on the power window master switch assembly. Imminent loss of braking seems much more dangerous than power windows, but I guess Toyota doesn't think so.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. While the contact's girlfriend was driving approximately 45 mph, a high pitched alarm sounded. When the contact attempted to apply the brakes, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle failed to stop and continued to coast forward. The contact had to continuously pump the brake pedal in order for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. The contact took the vehicle to the Toyota of lacrosse dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake reservoir and actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was aware of the failure and informed the contact that the repair was no longer covered under warranty. The manufacturer opened case number: 1707711063. The approximate failure mileage was 201,000.
When driving on local roads, the abs, slip and warning lights would come on suddenly. I would experience a severe decrease in brake function (I would need to slam on the brakes to get them to apply properly). This happened four times before the service center was able to diagnose a failed abs actuator. This is apparently a known issue for the Camry Hybrids, as Toyota issued an extended warranty for 2006-2011 Camry Hybrids for this very problem. (unfortunately, I have a 2012 hybrid and the service center would like to charge me over $3k (!) to fix this issue. ).
