My clutch slave cylinder broke. This is a known problem for 6mt Toyota Corolla hatchbacks yet there hasn't been a recall. Some go bad as soon as 40,000 miles which is very premature.

I’m getting engine maintenance required visit your dealer, and it has to do with the a/c it only comes on when I turn on the a/c which has to work the “coolant bypass valve” I’ve looked online and many others have had issues it’s the 2020 and onward year Toyota, I’m not the only one many have mentioned they reach out the dealer & state this is not a recall and need to pay out of pocket to fix, but with some many people having same issue, doesn’t seem right that it wouldn’t be a recall with its multiples of people having this same issue.

I was driving down the street and all of a sudden I couldn't accelerate. I pulled over and I turned off the car and then tried restarting it but it wouldn't. It said on the gear shift it was in park, but come to find out, my gear shift bushing broke while I was driving. I know I'm not the only driver this has happened to either in the year, make and model.

Hi, I recently relocated from vancouver, canada to seattle, washington, and I am in the process of importing my canadian-purchased 2022 Toyota Corolla into the united states. I have already contacted Toyota canada, but they informed me that they do not issue compliance letters for vehicles distributed under canadian regulations. I then contacted Toyota USA, who confirmed that this matter falls under NHTSA’s responsibility and advised me to request the compliance letter directly from you. Therefore, I respectfully request that NHTSA to solve this issue so that I may complete the import process in compliance with u. S. Regulations. Please advise me on the next steps to obtain this letter, including any required forms or supporting documentation I should provide. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

My car was parked in my driveway on am 80 degree afternoon. I went into the car to get something. When I closed the driver door, the entire back window shattered. I am the only driver of the vehicle and there were no issues with the window prior to this- no cracks, no incidents, no rocks on the road. . The only indication there was any issue was condensation on the inside of the back window two days before this happened. I thought this was unusual, but it did not seem like something to call the dealer about. I took the car to ira Toyota in saco, maine. They informed me there was no way to 'prove' a defect, as there was no longer a window to inspect. They suggested I call my insurance and lie about the incident, stating that 'nobody would believe a window just blew out' and they were just trying to help me get the repair covered by my insurance. I know there is currently a class-action suit against Honda for this same issue, and found over 20 shared instances in Toyotas (of various models) from 2021,2022, 2023, and 2024. I understand glass is not included in warranties, and I think this only makes sense for manufacturers. The fact that a window could spontaneously shatter at any moment is certainly a safety issue and should be covered under warranties or some other level of accountability. When my window combusted, all of the glass fell into the back window and back seat. If any kids or animals had been in the back seat (as they almost always are), they would have been covered in glass. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Purchased 6/25 a 2025 Toyota Corolla le with 16,000 miles as a pre-certified gold platinum. Car has a constant front end, ride side rattle that does not go away. Advised by dealership it is a manufacturer characteristic. Impossible on a new car and from a billion dollar manufacturer. I was advised to turn up my radio in order not to hear it. Dealership and or Toyota itself has not serviced the vehicle after attempts with the explanation that it is road safe. Well if road safe, how do you know when you don't say what the problem is other than a piece of metal clanking and no remedy by Toyota. So how do I know this vehicle is safe to drive?? no one helps. Words mean nothing and to then say raise radio volume therefore causing another road distraction. If the car can't be fixed than what? is it really road worthy?.
When the sun is overhead (this happens daily in south florida) the reflection of the ambient light on the instrument panel cover makes it impossible to look at the information on the instrument panel. This essentially makes one drive while being blind. Not a safe concept. It is pathetic that no action has been taken against the company.
I purchased a used 2024 Toyota Corolla from chapman Chrysler Jeep on 8/9/25 at 31,890 miles. When exiting the freeway 3 miles later, the vehicle suddenly swerved uncontrollably without any steering input from me. This was an extremely dangerous incident that could have caused a serious accident injuring myself and others.
My Toyota, the 12. 3-inch display screen fails to turn on when I start the vehicles or could unexpectedly shut down while driving.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the wireless charging unit/electrical system failed. The unit is still in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? while driving with all doors securely closed, the system displays false “door open” error messages and disables the wireless charging function. These false alerts distract the driver and could cause confusion or unsafe reactions. The issue undermines confidence in the reliability of the vehicle’s electrical and safety systems. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. The Toyota dealership confirmed the problem and reported replacing the wireless charging unit, but the defect persists. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? yes. The vehicle has been inspected by the Toyota dealership and reviewed by Toyota customer care. Toyota denied further assistance (case #250811002888, letter dated August 21, 2025). Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle displayed false “door open” messages when attempting to use the wireless charger. These warnings cause the system to stop charging and continue to appear despite the dealer’s attempted repair.
2025 Toyota Corolla se just wanted to bring attention to the gauge cluster (when the sun is streaming into the car) you cannot read the gauge cluster. The first picture is when the sun is streaming into the car - very hard to read. 2nd picture is upper left side with partial sun glare. 3rd pic is what it should look like all the time. The glass over the gauge cluster should be made out of some kind of anti glare glass so that the gauges are clearly visible all the time or gauge hood needs to be larger.
Engine maintenace required light came on. I was told that my coolant bypass valve needed to be replaced. This is happening on all Toyota vehicles from 2018-2024 common issue but the repair to fix something that should be covered under warranty.
I was at a red light and when it turned green, I had the clutch in and was in first gear, but as soon as I barely lifted my foot, the car started moving forward on its own. I almost rolled into the car in front of me. At first, I thought maybe it was just me or the shoes but then I noticed the clutch felt like it was getting stuck while pressed. When I tried changing gears, it made a metal-on-metal scratching noise. When I was coming to a stop, the car wouldn’t slow down properly because the clutch wasn’t responding. I couldn’t press it in, and since there were pedestrians nearby, I had to slow the car down by shifting gears without using the clutch and pedestrians got anxious and mad around me because they had to speed up to the safe side, pulled to the side and checked the pedal, thinking maybe something was in the way, but when I pumped it a few times, it started working again. For a moment. Then at another red light, the clutch pedal went soft and wouldn’t engage again. I couldn’t move the car. Eventually, it turned off, and I managed to get it into first gear and restart it, but the car jumped forward as soon as it started. I kept pressing gas and going, but I couldn’t shift into second gear anymore. Traffic was building up and I barely made it to a safe spot near a crosswalk. It felt unsafe to drive. And had to be tow then I did some bleedings and changed fluids no response. After finally being seing by Toyota and researching; all Toyota Corolla from 2020 and up have this problem the so called clutch master cylinder it breaks so premature my car barely has 41k miles on it. Unacceptable and warranty wont cover it.
Toyota defectively designed and/or manufactured coolant bypass valves ("the defect") that prematurely fail. When the defect manifests, coolant leaks out of the closed-loop coolant system. This adversely impacts the ability of the coolant system to properly regulate the temperature of the engine, and can lead to engine overheating, stalling, increased emissions and catastrophic engine failure. In addition, the leaking coolant can leak into the surrounding engine components, including the electrical system, and damage those components. The leaking coolant can also corrode the sensor on the coolant bypass valve, which causes it to remain stuck in the "open" or "closed" position and thus impedes its ability to properly direct coolant throughout the engine, thereby impeding the ability of the engine to operate within the appropriate parameters. When the defect manifests, it also causes a message to appear on the dashboard over the speedometer, which states: "engine maintenance required" and "visit your dealer. " the message cannot be dismissed or otherwise removed from the dash of the class vehicle by the operator of the class vehicle, and instead must be brought to a dealership or to a mechanic. The message is distracting and obscures a significant portion of the speedometer. Blocks other important, safety-related messages that are intended to display in the same area of the dash occupied by the message. Cars system reads “engine maintenance required” due to coolant bypass valve, car is only at 42,000 (6,000 miles past warranty) was told it’s not covered under powertrain warranty and was charged almost $1000 to get it fixed.

There is a persistent high-pitched noise coming from my vehicle, which has now led to significant physical symptoms including migraines, nausea, dizziness, and increased sensitivity to sound, has made driving a painful and unsafe experience. The problem occurs nonstop if the a/c or heat is on. The noise is high-frequency, sharp, and continuous, and appears to originate from within the dashboard area or hvac components. I went to the dealership multiple times with this complaint and they claim it is normal operation. I did not hear the same issue in the cars they compared mine to, but after Toyota's refusal to address the issue I looked it up and there are other reports [xxx] ). When at the dealership, I am continually faced with dismissive responses from the service departments and technicians, who have failed to address the underlying cause of the sound. This sound creates a serious distraction while driving and has caused physical symptoms including headaches, nausea, ear discomfort, and dizziness. These symptoms impair my ability to concentrate and safely operate the vehicle. On longer drives, the effects intensify, increasing the risk of driver fatigue, disorientation, or even potential loss of control. I believe this presents a significant safety hazard, not only due to the physical impact on the driver, but also because it undermines focus and reaction time, especially in high-traffic or high-speed conditions. This issue should be investigated for potential defects in the hvac design, acoustic insulation, or related components. Please investigate whether this condition is present in other vehicles of the same make/model and consider whether it warrants a safety recall or manufacturer intervention. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was at an intersection, and the engine suddenly stopped for no apparent reason. This message shows up on dashboard: steering power low. It asked me to put it on park and turn the engine back on. Very dangerous.
While driving with the windshield wipers on during a rain storm , the wipers would stop working suddenly. The car was taken to dealer and windshield motor was replaced. Without working wipers, it was dangerous to drive.
Dear better business bureau, I am filing a formal complaint against Toyota motor north America regarding a serious and unresolved safety defect in my 2024 Toyota Corolla le (VIN [xxx]). The vehicle experienced two incidents of sudden unintended acceleration—the second, on [xxx], resulted in a collision. Despite my repeated efforts to resolve the issue, Toyota has failed to respond adequately or provide critical diagnostic data. In both incidents ([xxx] and [xxx]), while stopped at a red light, the vehicle suddenly surged forward despite my foot being on the brake. On [xxx] this caused a collision. My vehicle has remained undrivable since. Toyota conducted a diagnostic inspection on may 29 under case #[xxx]. I’ve repeatedly requested access to the raw data from this inspection to understand the defect, but Toyota has not responded. Emails to the assigned case manager, ms. Cynthia ware, have gone unanswered. When I was directed to reply to a support email, it bounced back as a “do-not-reply” address, redirecting me to a login page which falsely claimed I had no active cases. This created an endless communication loop. Toyota’s lack of transparency and support is unacceptable—especially given the severity of the issue and the fact that the vehicle is still under warranty. I am requesting: immediate release of the raw diagnostic data from the may 29 inspection a prompt resolution, including full repair, replacement, or buyback clear, responsive communication from an authorized representative this is not only a financial burden, but a serious safety risk. I respectfully request bbb’s assistance in securing a resolution and holding Toyota accountable. Thank you for your time.
Dashboard warning: engine maintenance, visit dealer Toyota service center diagnostic found code p268115 - engine coolant bypass hose valve circuit short (recommend replacement of coolant bypass hose) an identical error is addressed with Toyota's customer support program 24te04 covering certain 2020-2021 Corollas (up to mid-January 2021). Reported vehicle's manufacture date is not covered under this program notice.
An engine maintenance required warning popped up. The pop up wasn't going away. My engine sounds louder than usual when turning my a/c on.
Engine coolant bypass valve.
My vehicle was backed into while ì was inside of it in a parking lot. Due to my horn failing. , I was unable to alert the other driver to see me. The clock spring is what failed the first time at 95k they replaced it. I'm now at 147k and it failed again . Now I'm discovering that if it does not work, there's an electrical circuit failure and that the airbag will not deploy if I get in an accident. This is a serious safety issue and I feel Toyota should be responsible for it for the life of the vehicle . A horn should never go out. Especially if it not working will keep my air bag from functioning properly . 850 out of my pocket is way steep. The replacement part lasted half as long as the original part did when I bought the car that to me seems like a faulty part this should be obvious and they should just fix the problem cuz I might have to just consult an attorney should they choose not to. The attached photo shows what happens when you can't beep your horn at somebody who's about to back into your car !!! my car still has not turned on any kind of warning lamp for the airbag or any kind of malfunction light, no warnings on my radio. I have noticed that my lane departure warning seems to work intermittently along with the automatic high beams that like to flash my high beams in people's face for some unapparent reason which also seems like a safety issue. If I had to take my car to an inspection station it would not pass an inspection due to the horn not working ! you cannot take your child to the department of motor vehicles and let them take their drive test if your horn does not work ! which happened to be my case !! very disappointing to say the least especially when you've paid $30,000 for a car.
My 2021 Corolla showed an engine maintenance required message. This message pertains to replacing the engine coolant bypass valve - a common occurrence for the 2019-2023 Corolla/rav4 models. I have seen multiple instances online of complaints of this same issue around the 50k-60k mark of the vehicle. This should be a recall due to how common the problem is. I’m here to add on to that tally of complaints that have already been submitted.
Once I parked my car and turned on the a/c a couple mins later I received a warning message on my car screen saying “ engine maintenance required visit your dealer”. After having my car for 4 years I’ve never received this message till now (04/22/25). I thought it was because I needed an oil change but I was wrong because my oil is good. I checked my car and saw that the issue is the “coolant bypass valve”. I don’t even use my car that much for this to happen. I saw this is a common issue with a Toyota Corolla 2020 but the dealership does not want to fix this issue for free.
I was coming to a stop and the clutch slave master cylinder just sank to the floor and wouldn’t activate the clutch. There were no symptoms of the clutch failing or having trouble changing gears prior to its failure. It was inspected by the Toyota tech and he couldn’t give me a reason for its premature failure.
The horn has failed to work now for the second time. I first had this problem at approximately 97000 right before my warranty was up, and Toyota had to replace the entire horn assembly they said that the wiring got wrapped up behind steering wheel and they weren't sure how . Now it started intermittently working the day I was going to let my daughter take her dmv drive test so she was not able to use my car it was sounding sick when I pressed it. Now it will not work at all . My car currently has 140k on it . Complete safety hazard when someone pulls out of a parking space and you can't alert them to not hit your car! you panic!!!! . This is a safety issue!!!! and I have had no warning lights that came on, nor any messages on my system warning screen on my radio. I've checked all my fuses they are fine. Nobody should have to worry about replacing an 800$ horn assembly every 40k that's ridiculous I have never had a horn failure. I feel this needs to be investigated I may not be the only one with this problem. I think they should be required to fix something of this nature just as they should all air bag and seat belt issues . It should never fail!!!!.
Coolant bypass valve. Code is p2681, part will fail and vehicle will consistently display a engine maintenance required visit your dealer on the mid. Dealerships will try and charge 500+ to repair it when the part is under 100+. Problem started to appear since end of March. It's may 15th as of this report. Upon using an obd tool this is the following message: "status confirmed / pending - engine coolant bypass valuve 'a' control circuit/open : circuit short to battery or open". Part has not been inspected by Toyota, nearby service centers are scumbags and will charge a fortunate to fix it.
While driving my vehicle southbound on [xxx] in the simpsonville/fountain inn area of south carolina, my vehicle suffered some sort of catastrophic failure while driving and became completely engulfed in flames. The vehicle was a total loss. The vehicle had been serviced a little over a month prior to this incident happening. The fire department took a report for the fire. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was able to distinguish today the car noises my vehicle is making happens when I break. Like a “eeeeek” sound. My mileage is under 8,000, had the car almost a year. Also I notice my wheel stiffens. I’m able to verify it happens when I merge - specifically when the lane dashes end. The wheel somehow gets tight even when driving with both hands. As if the vehicle gets confused. This has happened about 5 times this year but every time it happens- I brace myself for the vehicle to crash since I can’t control the wheel, no matter how strong I try to gain control. The wheel gets too tight to steer. These episodes lasts about 3-4 seconds. I am going to take it to the dealership on April 1, 2025. Also there were no messages on my dashboard when these episodes occurred.
Manual driving shaft slips out of 6th gear while driving affecting the driving speed and increasing rpms.
Front is very low. Right side is tilted without anyone inside. Very unusual tire wear on inside edges of both front tires. Immediately after starting the engine the front ricked side took side and made loud noises.
Coolant bypass valve needs to be replaced.
