The complaint is with the radio. The car was in motion on the street when it all of a sudden restarted itself. I thought nothing of it only because it has happened before except everything went back to normal and worked properly. But now after that has happened it doesn't stop doing that. It didnt even fully restart itself. It just keeps restarting to where I can't use the radio, navigation or anything not even the aux cord or usb port to play any music of some sort. I have tried parking and let it do its thing and nothing it still continues to restart.
I was driving down the highway I heard a loud bang! ilooked around, no cars were near me, I didn't notice a change in the car, I slowed down when I had a chance got out to look at the car everything looked fine until I noticed a big hole in my sunroof I didn't see a rock or anything my heart was racing. I was close to an exit so pulled off when I got the chance to a gas station I had some duct tape in the car so I taped up the glass so it wouldn't fall out onto the highway. I called the state police to report the incident they didn't think it was strange at all I thought someone might have thrown something at the sunroof because otherwise why would it shatter. It was very scary thankfully my car insurance cover the cost of replacing it.

The first thing I noticed was at least two weeks ago when I couldn't adjust the radio volume while driving, thought maybe there was a safety feature that wouldn't allow you to do so if driving. Today we hopped in the car to do a quick errand and noticed the radio had no display on it. While friend was in the store tried turning the radio off and back on again, then tried turning the car off and back on again finally tried pushing every button that was related to the radio. The first button would turn the radio off the next would turn it back on and so on and so forth and that is all they would do. Came home and researched this to be a chronic problem with late model Corollas. The frightening thing isn't that it isn't fixable but rather that it reoccurs within about 2 years time from the first time and mine is 6 years old and I have had it 1 month. It also sounds like more electrical systems seem to get involved the older the car is. I don't know if I can afford to buy another used car so soon on what I make. I hope someone looks into this so these cars aren't flooding the resale market. The vehicle was both stationary and moving and it was at night so the lights were on. I live in mn and the temperature was about 38 degrees.

I was driving my Toyota Corolla and everything worked. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. I was able to accelerate, brake, listen to the radio, ac on high and get 30mpg in the city. Something must be wrong with my car. Nhtsa and the media has convinced me that I might die while driving my Toyota and yet I feel just as safe as ever. Please help me. Thank you.

My 2003 Toyota Corolla which was bought brand new in may of 2002 has had several dashboard and radio issues. Two months after purchase the whole dashboard needed to be replaced. Afterwhich my radio no longer was flush with dash, the dealer attempted to fix several times to no avail contacted Toyota directly, they sent a manfacturing rep whom fixed the radio however created a bigger gap b/w radio and rest of console. Toyota is considering this a manufacturing design not a defect. Was told would "rob peter to pay paul" in order to fix. Now dash is falling apart again as well as the rest of the front console. Looks as though was glued together.
