I bought the car new it had always been dealer maintained the car was in excellent condition the car had been serviced two months earlier a tire rotation and oil change the car has 110k miles driving the car on a paved road at 35mph the tie rod snapped resulting in accident the garage said it looked like the tire lug nuts were put on too tight my car has been sitting at the dealership from where I bought the car I thought they should fix it because I was told it was there fault the car has been sitting there for a year the dealership won't talk to me is this something that should happen to a well maintained and well cared for car a Toyota rep looked at the car and would take no responsibility please tell me if this is normal to happen thank you linda kirton.

While making a 90 degree turn from the roadway into a parking space I heard a loud snapping, banging noise from the right front of my vehicle and the vehicle came to an abrupt stop. I turned the ignition off and checked the front side of my vehicle and was alarmed to find that my right front wheel was pointed in the opposite direction of my left front wheel and upon further investigation found what appears to be a snapped tie rod end or lower control arm. The following morning I had a tow truck haul the vehicle to the dealer that I originally purchased the vehicle from. The tow truck driver was able to straighten out the wheel in order to get the vehicle on the truck. The driver commented " you are some fortunate that you weren't traveling any faster you would have no control over your steering!" the dealer let me know that the vehicle needs an inner and outer tie rod, sway bar link, a strut assembly and a new axle!! the dealer further went on to say that the parts are all under warranty so you are all set!! I asked, how is it possible that a vehicle with only 11,800 miles could have had such a catastrophic failure. The answer, we are not sure at this point the parts will be shipped back to the factory.

I was driving down interstate 65 in indiana on a windy day and was having trouble keeping my car in my lane. The car was all over the place and I had to constantly fight to keep it on the highway. I slowed down and it did not help. For a while I have heard a clunk noise in the passenger side front tire when hitting a bump. I thought the noise was a broken strut. I took my car to the shop today (midas) in hammond indiana and they said the noise was probably from a loose tie rod. The mechanic showed me he could move the front wheel while the car was in the air 1 to 2 inches to either direction left or right without moving the steering wheel or front wheel on the other side of the car. The tie rod had over one inch of play going into the steering gear box. The car has never been in an accident and this should have never happened at 41,128 miles. I could have been killed. My car is now at my local Toyota dealer getting a brand new electric rack steering gear box and tie rod on the front passenger side.

I was driving on florida's turnpike nb at 70 mph when suddenly, my steering wheel felt disconnected from the tires. The car started to fishtail, and I was unable to brake. The mechanical issue was later identified as failed a tie rod.
We purchased a 2010 Toyota Corolla. The car will drift or veer to left and sometimes to the right. The steering appears unstable. We have returned the car twice to be fixed and were advised it is ok. My husband describes the problem similar to driving an old car with bad tie rods or where the ball joints were shot. He will not allow myself of my daughter who we bought the car for, to drive it. The contact owns a 2002 Toyota Corolla. While driving approximately 35 mph the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel. She added oil to the engine, and then towed the vehicle to a local repair facility. A mechanic stated that the tie rod failed, and that the engine needed to be replaced. No repairs were made. She filed report number 091113338 with the manufacturer. The current and failure mileages were 116,000.

Bought new tires at sears. Had tires balanced and front-end alignment. Service dept. Stated and showed me that the inner w/power steering tie rod (front left side)was loose and should be replaced.
