"takata recall" we purchased our vehicle about a year ago and do love our Sienna. The vehicle will down shift and the traction control kicks in while we are in a curve. It is so bad that it almost comes to a stop and skids around the curve. It doesn't matter if you are going 30 or 45. It happens several times while driving on a daily basis. We have took our vehicle to a mechanic and they have hooked it to their machine and can not seem to tell what is going on with it. I am very concerned because I carry my small children and am afraid the vehicle is going to cause me to wreck. We have been told that it could be several different things and that it is going to be trial and error to find out which one it may be. While costing us hundreds, even thousands of dollars. This morning my husband went to the Toyota dealership and the guy told him that he is more than sure that it is the "yaw" rate sensor, he has seen it on several Toyota's. He has seen this on several Toyotas and that Toyota themselves will not fix the problem. I understand that my vehicle is out of warranty but I am very upset because it sounds like there is a problem with that particular part on many vehicles yet Toyota will do nothing about it! I do not understand why I should be out money for a faulty part. Make no mistake I will not be purchasing another Toyota for this reason. If Toyota will not make the effort to fix the problem why would I purchase another vehicle made by them, it is bad customer service. If this was something that I had caused myself I could understand. Just this past summer we replaced the air conditioner, I did not want Toyota to fix that because it is normal vehicle maintenance. This is something that Toyota needs to deal with and fix because their vehicle is not safe!!!!.

Last night as I was driving home on the freeway, my car?s navigation system, in addition to the radio/dvd/cd system, shut down showing a black screen. As I kept driving, the side lights (but not the screen) would briefly come on and then turn off again. It did that at least 6 times. Everything else works fine, (e. G. , lights, air conditioning, signals, etc. ), but I have no music and no dvd player. My car is not that old and I keep it in mint condition! for it to have turned off like that is baffling, especially since I just had it totally serviced last month, as I do every year. The dealer, without having seen it, quoted an astronomical amount for something that could quite possibly be a fuse problem or a loose connection somewhere within the system. Anyway, that's my problem.

The air conditioner housing is leaking water onto safety-critical parts. This housing is made of plastic parts that are glued together. Water is condensed during the cooling cycle, and it then collects at the bottom and exits the vehicle through a rubber hose. The glue holding the housing together has failed. Water is leaking from the housing and running onto the computer module that deploys the airbags. I have been advised by the dealer that it is not safe to drive the vehicle with a wet module because the airbags can deploy while moving, or that they might not deploy in the event of a collision. An identical problem affects Toyota models camry, avalon, and venza. . Read more...

For the past 6 months, our vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Sienna that we purchased new, has emitted a very foul odor from the air conditioning system. From all the information I have, this appears to be from mold growth. I am worried that aside from being extremely unpleasant, it is a safety concern. After numerous trips to two different Toyota dealers for service, an inspection by a southeast Toyota representative, and following all the guidelines found in the technical service bulletin, we have not had any improvement. The odor is sporadic but persistent, usually occurring several times a week. As I've explained to Toyota, there are three distinct "smells" (vinegar, wet dog, and one just very, very bad). We filed a formal complaint with Toyota last spring, wrote letters to many Toyota representatives, met with the general manager at the dealer where we purchased it, and have been in phone contact the past three weeks with a representative from the office of jim lentz, ceo and president of Toyota north America. Toyota maintains this is an environmental issue and not a mechanical one, therefore they won't fix it. I have other vehicles in the same environment without this problem. Being that this van was purchased new, my first new vehicle ever, makes it even more upsetting. While one dealership said a recall is possible, unless this is deemed a safety concern, I do not see Toyota addressing this issue. Please help.

When I was driving on the highway , the tire on the right side in the back on the side of the passenger side explode and broke the pipes of the heater and the anti freeze of the air condition that were next to the wheel that exploded on the passenger side on the back wheel.
1) August 2013 during an oil change the dealer technician notified me the steering rack needed replacing due to oil leaks from the rack and pinion ($1000 repairs). 2) September 2014 asked dealer to check air conditioning ac right center console blower. After recharging the system with dye, found the ac lines to the rear cabin corroded under the wheel wells -- recommended $1500 to replace entire lines (I declined pending further inspection summer 2015). 3) February 2015 noticed right side power sliding door stopped working electronically, with key fob, interior switches, etc. , and would only work when pulling open/closing manually by hand. Actuators still worked to "lock" the door during the last inch closing/opening. Noticed black cable sheathing frayed and bare in spots, showing steel cable inside, but cable still intact. Found online forums stating many having similar issues. Located my extension to warranty enhancement notice from Toyota mailing stating "certain 2004-2007 model year Sienna rear sliding door latch assemblies and power sliding door cable assemblies" may be covered (up to 120k or 9 years from original date of purchase, whichever came first), via the Toyota customer support program. However, this "enhancement" does not cover door motor assembly failures, which my dealer technician identified as the probable main cause of the door not working properly (after having removed part of the door for inspection). I declined the $1000 labor + $1200 parts ($2200 total) motor, but accepted the free cable assembly warranty coverage. Am now using the door in manual mode only. My concerns: these parts are wearing out prematurely under normal use/wear and tear.
From the onset of purchase of a 2013 Toyota Sienna xle, the air conditioner has emitted a foul odor that smells like mold. Nor will the a/c system adequately cool the vehicle until being driven sometimes as long as ten miles, if then. We have been told to turn off the a/c before arriving home to eliminate the odor and given a Toyota print out that this is a known problem that is specific to the 2013 Toyota Sienna. On the last scheduled maintenance freon was added but did not eliminate the odor or improved the a/c output. The foul odor never goes away while driving and may be an environmental hazard for persons with a lung or breathing condition. This is a totally unacceptable solution for the risk of being exposed to a potential dangerous and unknown noxious fume to the owner of the vehicle.
This is a complaint, not necessarily a safety one, but a complaint nonetheless. The air conditioning went out twice & had to be replaced two times. Very expensive repair. Disappointed in my Toyota.
