3 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

When traveling around 30 to 35 mph (well under speed limit) on dry clear roads, on left turns (often slightly downhill) suddenly the vsc and slip/trac lights up, the abs system is activated / brakes engage. Foot is not on the brake and speeds are not excessive. I am not using run-flat tires, but that doesn't seem to make a difference for others online. I see dozens of similar complaints online about this same thing from 2001 to 2015 Siennas. Two say that replacing rack & pinion fixed it; 1 says it does not. This started happening about 3 months ago, but is now happening more often. Approx 156k miles. Other fixes that have not worked: replace front speed sensors, changed all pads and rotors, and replacing the steering angle sensor. None of those worked. On person says, "most common prob seems to be the rack bushing where the rack is mounted. They wear out and cause the rack to move when turning. . . Bushings are hard to replace so just replace the rack and it will solve the problem if it is loose. ( although its a bit expensive) the yaw sensor or steering sensor has also been the culprit in some cases. " another says, "steering linkages could be another culprit - control arm bushings were severely worn and could potentially be another source. Alignment and zero-point calibration sometimes help, but not for long. " I don't feel safe driving myself or my children in this car, but can't afford another. And can't afford a $1k fix - especially if others have this issue. What can I do?.

4 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/03/2020

My van has been sitting in the driveway during the covid-19 lockdown. One day I noticed a crack from top to bottom down the middle of the windshield. This has to be due to a manufacturing defect because there was no accident, no trees above the van, and the pattern is not the same as windshields that have been hit by rocks. This model van has had multiple safety recalls and a class action lawsuit so I won't be surprised if this was a manufacturing defect. My hope is that this will turn into a safety recall and Toyota takes responsibility and fixes it. The "bumper to bumper" warranty does not cover windshield defect. They dealership claim that it was caused by wear & tear without even inspecting it. When I called corporate, they said the same thing and I can take it into the dealership for an inspection. However, I would have to pay for the inspection fee.

5 Carrier/rack problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/05/2020

When I'm driving my vehicle in a city street I get an alert on the instrument panel which says "trac off - check awd system" and the service light turns on. I did not turn the trac off. When I turn the vehicle off and then back on, the service isn't on anymore and the message goes away. This has happened several times when I'm driving and the car stalls and loses speed and wants to shut off as I'm driving in a city street. For several minutes and the service light and the track and awd light turn on and stay on for several hours. However, when I turn off the car the lights are still on but go away after some time. This has happened several times.

9 Carrier/rack problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 06/19/2018

We purchased the Sienna new off the lot in 2015, and have had to replace the windshield 5 times due to cracks, and it's already cracked again. Sometimes it cracked due to pebbles or rocks hitting it, but other times it just cracked spontaneously. Once it cracked out of nowhere, and another time it was when we sprayed it with low-pressure water.

10 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/17/2018

Cable on spare tire carrier under vehicle broke and fortunately spare tire appeared to have bounced away form vehicle and in to lava field. Could have been so much worse. Local dealership stated they have no information regarding a recall on the spare tire carrier. However, I see it reflected on line. I have a broken spare tire carrier and cannot locate the spare anywhere if the field. Toyota USA states to contact servco but they are of no help.

11 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 10/12/2017

Dash board is cracked all over . And not safe to drive with kids or dogs. I'm in florida witch is very hot state and you can feel and see this is dangerous plastic dash board. . They got recall 2 years ago and Toyota dealership close it . This year my dash board is looking horrible, begins just this year. I have same problem with my 2007 Toyota camry . I thing Toyota used the same material from plastic , that after 10 years it is not safe for people and way to expensive to fix it.

13 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 04/14/2017

This is a customers car. I work in an alignment shop. The customer dropped this car off this morning for an alignment. I drove the car into the shop, on the alignment rack this morning. When I got out of the car, and walked around to the front of the car, I noticed the hood was open. I did not remember popping the hood, but I figured I just forgot, and proceeded to shut the hood, as I didn't need it open to align the vehicle. When I tried to close the hood, it would not catch, it just kept popping back up. It seemed to me that the latch was stuck. After looking under the hood, I looked under the dash. What I found, was the hood latch cable was routed under the parking brake arm, every time you set the parking brake, you were "popping" the hood! this can be a very dangerous situation! if you set the parking brake without knowing the hood is open, you could get back in the car and drive away, and have the hood fly open at highway speed, very dangerous! on this car I disconnected the latch cable, and rerouted it.

14 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

Dashboard started becoming soft a few months ago, where if you accidently scraped it with your fingernail a little chunk would come out, and then it started cracking and every time we get in there, there is another crack. Worried about air bag coming out. I'm just now reading that a letter was sent out from Toyota about this to owners, but we never got one. We have gotten one for a couple of other things, but not for this and we didn't get one for clicking noise on driver's door either, which is happening now. I know the car is older, but if these are defects, Toyota should fix them. I'm reading about a lot of people having the same problems.

15 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/10/2017

I've noticed a crack that has appeared on the dashboard (near glove compartment) at the passenger side going towards the radio player. There's another crack on the dashboard near the vent on the driver's side. I've done my research regarding this and found that it is a known issue for 2005 Toyota Sienna. I've contacted a representative of Toyota dealership in tysons, va for them to take a look. I also wanted to file a formal complaint regarding this issue.

16 Carrier/rack problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

The dashboard on my mother's 2004 Toyota Sienna has become 1) cracked, 2)shiny, 3) sticky and with a 4) white, mildew-y growth along the edges. While the cracked sections are unsightly, the shine is what concerns me very much. The shine produces a glare on top of the dashboard that is dangerous when driving at night. The stickiness attracts dust, hair and other small particles and cannot be wiped off. The white powdery growth also raises a concern due to toxicity. I have complained to our local Toyota dealer, as well as Toyota headquarters at 800-331-4331, but have been told the recall time frame expired on 5/31/17 and there is nothing to be done. They say letters were sent, which my mother never received. The dashboard has progressively gotten worse in the last 3 years. Please refer to warranty enhancement program ze6 and pol14-11.

17 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 06/06/2016

There is a recall on the spare tire carrier cable. I have also received a recall notice for the sliding door. I contacted my local Toyota dealer( Toyota of iowa city) located in iowa city, IA. I contacted them 6-8 months ago when I received the first notice. They said they would order parts and be in contact with me. I recently received a second notice concerning the spare tire carrier cable. I'm frustrated with their lack of response as this is not the first time I have had an issue with this dealership. The power drivers seat does not function properly and they were going to order parts for it. When I called about the spare tire I asked about the seat and she had no idea what I was talking about.

18 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Minivan is kept in garage all the time and driven very few miles per year. However, there is intense cracking all over the dashboard. The dashboard is melting and jeopardizing the airbags being deployed. Toyota is aware of this and sent a warranty enhancement notification to get all melting/cracked dashboards fixed free of charge. However, the Toyota dealership never called to tell me the part is in and it has been almost 2 years now and now I am told it's past the date to get this fixed. Dealership: texas Toyota of grapevine, 701 state hwy. 114 east, grapevine, TX 76051 (817) 259 - 1493 is phone number. It is suspect, the order was cancelled so Toyota can save money and then tell customers it's past the date of getting this fixed. Vehicle has defective, cracking dashboards & Toyota know of this.

19 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 02/16/2016

The rubber from back door melted since I live in tropical island and there is a lot of heat. The plastic base for the antena broke, I gues the heat cracked the plastic base, and the cell charger doesn't work, though I have hardly used it. I seems like it gets out of position easily. Overall, the plastic features are giving me a hard time. I love my Sienna and it's in very good condition, but these problems don't have to do with use.

22 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

I learned of a recall for my car's dashboard. It is cracked. It is a 2007 that I bought from dick dyer Toyota in columbia, SC in 2011. They now tell me the recall has expired. But this means they sold me a car without fixing a known recall issue. It was not cracked in 2011 but has been cracked since around 2015 or 2016. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow to fix three other recall issues. Also, a tire pressure sensor was broken when I bought the car but the dealership denied the problem. I have had it fixed on my own. Now another has malfunctioned so the tire pressure light is always on. I believe this is a safety issue. Also, the airbag light goes on and off all the time. I don't know to which airbag it pertains.

Cracked dash board despite garage kept vehicle.

24 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/15/2015

I opened the rear door and it would not shut. I took it to a mechanic that sent me to a body shop who referred me to the dealer. The center assembly hinge needs to be replaced. The door closed but had a crack and today when made a left turn the door opened by itself. Imagine if a child was in the back seat!!!.

25 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

Contacted local dealer and Toyota about "customer support program ze6" cracked dashboard. Dealer keeps promising to install month after month, for the last six month with no resolution. Toyota said they no eta on replacement dashboards. Car is not in a sellable condition with cracked dashboard.

26 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 08/27/2015

I took my 2006 Sienna in for it's regular maintenance. He told me that the power steering rack is deteriorated to the point of needing a new one soon or I could be in a car accident from loss of power steering. Unfortunately we do not have the money to replace it right now, so we are left short a car. If this has been a problem for Toyota Siennas, I'm not sure why it hasn't been taken care of.

27 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 08/09/2015

I was driving down on the high way at 70 mph and suddenly heard a cracking sound. After that I heard a wind noise you typically hear when your windows are not completely closed. In a seconds, I heard another breaking sound and see some debris on my rear-view mirror. Then I opened my sun room cover and figured that out my sunroof glass was completely shattered. If I had not had closed my cover, it could have hurt my families inside the van. Also the falling debris can cause serious risk to others driving in the highway. I need Toyota's answers on this matter.

28 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 04/25/2015

Dashboard has become sticky and is cracking.

29 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/31/2015

The vinyl dashboard on my vehicle is melting in the sun. I live in florida and park the vehicle outside. The dashboard has a sticky residue to the touch. It has several cracks and the top of the dashboard appears to be covered in wax. What concerns me more is the vapor ordor emminating from the dash. It's making me and my four children sick. At 87 degrees today, I can't drive with the windows down. And the smell of the melted vinyl goes through the airconditioning vents. No amount of air freshener diffuses the odor. What can be done about this?.

30 Carrier/rack problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/10/2015

Dash board has a crack on passenger side right where the air bag is. While driving on the freeway noticed check engine light came on and speedometer reading went to 0. Stopped counting miles and car going on 65 but speedometer reads 0. Also gas tank level indicator goes from half tank to empty and gas light turn on. It is not safe as I don't know at what speed my car is going on and also if the crack on the dash board gets bigger, air bags might pop out. Need somebody to look into this as the van is driven only 49000 miles. This is very unusual .

31 Carrier/rack problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 10/23/2014

The dashboard has cracks all over it. Reading online, I notice that a lot of people are having the same problems. We brought the van used and notice small cracks. As the years past the crack are getting more and more. It seem that it would cause a hazard if the air bags ever went off as it would throw shards toward the passages.

32 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/23/2014

Re; recall 14v273000, never had a failure, had original recall done yet service dept cut off spare tire carrier cable and relocated spare tire to inside of vehicle. Wife is handicapped and we cannot use the rear of the vehicle to transport her mobility scooter. I believe waiting 7+ months for a fix is unreasonable, especially since spare tires have been located under vehicles for decades. I would hope Toyota could come up with a fix instead of sitting around and doing nothing !.

33 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/22/2014

Got oil change for 2007 Sienna today and was told steering rack and pinion may need to be replaced because of leakage. I'm the first owner and the car has been maintained well since the first day. I don't understand what causes the leakage as the car has only 63174 miles as of today. It's unacceptable that the quality of the component is so bad.

34 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 08/20/2014

Sometime around August 2014, I received a safety recall notice from Toyota. It mentioned a new safety recall #e1s which supersedes the prior notice #a9e. This involves the spare tire carrier cable which may corrode due to road salt in cold climate areas, which I understand includes maryland where I live. I have called Toyota dealers near me and they keep saying that Toyota has not provided them with the part to repair this. I tried again today, March 13, 2015, but the answer is the same. Therefore, I am registering my complaint today and would like to know how soon this safety defect might be taken care of.

35 Carrier/rack problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

I am having problem with Toyota motors sales, u. S. A. , inc. Service. Toyota issued an important safety recall #a9e back in 2010 about a spare tire carrier cable. The remedy for it was applied to my car on 10/26/2010 at miller Toyota in manassas, va. I thought it was over. In June 2014 I received another safety recall notice #e1s (interim notice) about the previous inadequate remedy procedure and I was told to return my vehicle back to the dealer for an additional inspection. I visited miller Toyota in manassas, va on 08/05/2014 and they simply relocated the spare tire from under the floor area to the luggage compartment as a temporary solution until the new remedy will be available. It is February 2015 now. I am still driving my car with the stinky spare tire in the luggage compartment for six months. Beside the issue I have because of the technician mistake - he put the tire to the right side (should be on the left side per the instruction) and bent and stained the interior panel - I cannot use this compartment at all for luggage and can not stow the rear seats to make the car floor flat as I needed. I called Toyota at 877-957-9847 three times (10/17/2014; 11/20/2014; 01/20/2015). I have a case #1410171769 for reference where they recorded my calls. Nobody whom I talk to during these calls knew when this remedy will be released for actions and what its status was at all. Nobody in Toyota was care about my inconvenience during the driving. I notified the miller Toyota manager about the panel damages right away but not sure he will remember what happened when I will appear for this new remedy completion. It is time for Toyota to act with repair and it is time for more valuable compensate to my inconvenience than "just apologize". Please, help me to bring a responsible party to actions. Thanks.
