2 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 11/16/2018

The vehicle was stationary and one day abs malfunction light came on due to faulty harness on a 3 year old 35,000 mile vehicle. This reduces the ability of the vehicle to stop normally as it should this also disables the traction control on the vehicle. I was driving in rain without any traction control and it was scary. I contacted Toyota and they keep stating the car is out of warranty. It is $500+ repair to abs system due to their faulty parts. I just need this to be on the record incase something happens while driving a Toyota Sienna.

Next day service mgr said according to the mechanic, the abs actuator needs to be replaced. This is a $2500 part, plus labor.

5 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

October 2016 this problem of my 2008 Toyota Sienna started- on slight curves doing 30-40mph I would hear a clicking noise coming somewhere underneath the front right end almost as if under the dash, the vsc light would flash. I took to a Toyota dealership, had a mechanic test drive with me they said the problem was that my tires werent aligned with my last tire change(which was done at their Toyota dealership) Toyota told me I needed to replace all the tires and have the wheels aligned. I did this, problem continued. I took my van in again to Toyota, they lied and told me I needed new brakes, and some other things I didnt need. Decided to get a 2nd opinion from 2 other auto shops and found out Toyota lied about the brakes, they were fine and they both were unable to find out my problem. I found this out going to 2 other auto shops asking for them to look into the original problem. Now today may 2019 this problem still exists, but has gotten worse. Now-the vsc light comes on, it still clicks, the abs light and warning sound goes off, feels as if abs engages, as it jerks and im unable to accelerate during this time until im on a straight away. Very scary when it happens the van starts jerking and unable to acelerate, not safe to take my family in. Never buy another Toyota again. . .

7 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2001 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

I replaced my brakes pad and routers less than a year ago and replaced all 4 tires December 2012 at sears. My abs light and tire pressure light come on every time I drive and recently I pulled out of my driveway at no more than 5 mph and pressed on the brake and I couldn't stop reversing in the street. I fell when I driving the anti brake system tries to work. Because my pedal jumps and vibrates and I hear clicking grinding sounds. I have had to stop intersections because my van wouldn't stop when I needed it too.

Failure Date: 10/12/2012

Owner was driving and vcs and abs warning lights came on and stayed on while driving as well as tire pressure light. Brakes on vehicle did not brake as well going down hill. Tires slipped and skidded in the rain on the hills in ventura county. Driver called Toyota and they opened up a case number. Toyota has attempted to fix the vehicle 3 times and cannot determine the reason why the malfunction keeps occurring. Owner has video of the warning lights continuously on while owner is driving. Owner feels this is an extreme safety issue, and believes they were sold a lemon car.

9 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2000 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 07/29/2009

I was stopping in my driveway slightly downhill on loose stone and grass - 5 mph. The abs engaged, I could hear it. My foot was firmly on the brake pedal, I confirmed this visually during the incident. The car did not stop when it should have and the abs did not release until the car had rolled through bushes, etc. And stopped on its own. I believe that something is wrong with the abs safety system - the abs did not work properly, but at no point did the abs light come on to warn me of a safety hazard. Currently I have disabled the abs system by pulling the fuse. I have had the hydraulic brakes checked out by a local garage. I have not taken the vehicle to Toyota to get the abs system inspected yet.

10 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2000 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 06/04/2008

I purchased my Sienna in 2001. It is a 2000 Toyota Sienna LS which currently has 150k miles. In 2002 I began to have issues with my rear brakes since this time I have had my brakes inspected every year due to grinding noises and squeaking. The first 2 times I've taken my van in they have inspected the rear brakes and said they are fine, just dusty and the claimed to have cleaned them. In 2008 however they sounded so bad and seemed very dangerous as they were still making grinding noises. I took my van to christian bothers and they redid my rear brakes. . . (OH, the abs light as been on all this time as well) maybe a week went by and the problem persisted. I took my van back a month later ( my transmission went out that same week and that's how long it took to get my van back)!! they inspected my brakes again and didn't see anything wrong, they were fine and they couldn't explain why they were making noise or why my abs light was on. I just cross my fingers every year that my van will pass inspection! thus far I have not had any accidents but am very afraid to drive my car on a wet road, when I apply the brakes on a wet road they pop and the van barely stops. I've had this issue for a long time, I know Toyota is a good manufacturer or I would not have purchased a Toyota. . But I can say for sure, I will not by another one I'm switching to Honda or buying american.

12 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2000 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 07/10/2003

My 2000 Toyota Sienna (VIN # 4t3zf13c6yu214452) anti-lock brakes have failed. I took it immediately to Toyota. Van mileage was only 66,706. Toyota dealer said abs pump motor failed. There is no recall. . . . If I wanted this function I could pay for the part $1,471. 00. . . . . Labor not quoted. This safety function was only activated automatically 4 or 5 times since I purchased it new.

13 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 1998 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/26/2000

The motor acutator for the abs system was found to be defective as indicated by a abs warning light. The dealer said the item was not covered under the warranty and the cost to repair was $1300. 00 for part and $300. 00 for labor. The dealer indicated that I would have no abs on the vehicle but that it was safe to drive. I spoke with a service representative named mark. I think that the abs system is a safety device and should be fixed by the manufacturer. I am seriously concerned that if this system decides to malufundtion because of a defective part that the vehicles brakes could be affected causing a serious wreck and putting my family in harms way.
