Noticed a vibration starting on a 2007 Toyota Sienna xle. Initially thought it to be tire related. Upon investigation noticed the left rear wheel was too hot to touch. Revealed that the brake assembly had siezed and was causing the brakes to overheat (blue dick and cylinder). Toyota claims they have seen this on many Sienna's and they regularily lube the slides that mount the wheel cyinder. Mine had not seen lube. Brake pads on the remainder of the car were ~ 50%. I believe had I not found this, there would have been a fire (it was that hot). Now I'm stuck on my $ to pay almost $1000 for new brakes (opted to overhaul the other three to eliminat the same problem elsewhere).

Toyota Sienna 2005 was taken into dealership for regular maintenance service which included a check of the brakes. Was told rear brakes needed to be replaced and that was performed. Was told by dealer that front brakes were fine. 1 month later having problems with brakes still. Took it to private mechanic and was told that master brake cylinder needed to be replaced. I would think this problems would have been detected when it was at the dealership. I am lucky that my brakes did not fail and cause an accident. Other issues with this 2005 Toyota Sienna include having to replace the a/c compressor twice, rack and pinion replaced, and now the rear struts on the tailgate have failed. This vehicle is a serious safety risk.

Toyota Sienna brakes pedal goes down to the floor giving not enough braking to stop vehicle. The brake work has been done on this Mini-van three times within last 2~3 years at Toyota dealerships service center but the condition has not been improved. The dealership has worked on both front(disc brakes) and rear(drum brakes) including part replaced and repaired. Brake cylinders at rear tires replaced. The front disc had been changed with brake shoes. Rear brake rotor was machined and brake shoes have been replaced. None of the old parts are available with vehicle owner.

Wheel cylinders replaced. I was told it was because I have not replaced the brake fluid yearly since owning the car.
