Brake Pedal And Linkage Problems of Toyota Sienna

2005 Toyota Sienna. Consumer writes in regards to brake failure. The consumer stated several weeks ago, he was turning around in the driveway, and when he pressed down with his right foot, the engine roared and the vehicle jumped forward until he applied more pressure to the brake pedal, at which point the vehicle stopped. The consumer realized the brake pedal could be depressed easily below the level of the gas pedal, hence the roar and surge. The consumer was informed brake pedals were no longer adjustable and when the mechanic checked the vehicle, the brake master cylinder was failing and accounted for the brakes not functioning properly at times.

The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Sienna with 18,600 miles. The contact had the vehicles steering modified because of a handicap. The contact received the recall notice 10v620000, service brakes, hydraulic:pedals and linkages. When the contact took the vehicle to the dealer to have the recall performed, he was told that they could not do the work due to the previous modification to the vehicle. Contact has a 2007 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated the pedal is too small to place your foot on the brake properly and causes the vehicle to slip forward. The contact feels this is a safety issue. The failure mileage was 75 and the current mileage was vehicle 50000. Updated 4/7/2010 the consumer stated when at a stop, the brake pedal would travel to the floor. Distances between the gas and brake pedals were designed poorly. The pedal pad was 2x4 inches. When transferring feet from one pedal to another consumer's foot would get stuck between the pedals.
