1 Paint problem of the 2011 Toyota Sienna

While driving on the highway on the left passenger door was beeping. After pulling over re-opening and closing the door the beeping stopped. Also the paint is peeling off below all windows and on the roof.

2 Paint problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 11/20/2014

The power sliding door on our 2004 Toyota Sienna is faulty. It failed in the open position. My wife had to drive my kids plus neighbor kids home with the door stuck open. This is truly a safety concern. Now, only a strong adult can get the door open or closed. Also, the center hinge on the door is faulty and has ground away the paint and metal on the body right below the track the door uses to open. Apparently, Toyota sort of recognized a problem with this (there have been many complaints about it) because they issued an extended warranty to cover this very problem. However, the warranty expired a year ago, and my door didn't fail until very recently. I called and they said there is nothing they can do. The warranty period is over. The problem with the warranty is that it puts the onus on the owner to recognize the problem (paint being rubbed off and then metal) or a major failure (the door being stuck open). Will it take a serious injury or some child falling to her or his death through the open side door before Toyota acts responsibly and issues an actual recall?.

3 Paint problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 02/22/2012

Sienna 200-2006 has three major problems: 1) the door check mount cracks (so as for the welded parts inside the door to crack from each other by itself). 2) from time to time the airbag light keep blinking, and upon investigation, there is a problem with the airbag socket that can disconnect anytime upon changing the position of the driver seat. 3) the paint of the body fades fast (as for a 6 years old garage kept car the paint to fade, is something unique).

7 Paint problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/01/2008

2006 Toyota Sienna - excessive paint chipping and rust. Vehicle has been taken to two Toyota dealerships for excessive rust caused by paint chipping. Both dealers claim that stones on roadway are the cause. Rusting began to appear in the rear quarter panel area; directly behind both passenger doors. Toyota placed two clear plastic strips in both these areas (factory installed). The clear plastic strips have done nothing to prevent to chipping and rust. In fact the rust has appeared under the clear plastic strips. Paint has also begun on the right passenger sliding door. Toyota corporation was contacted concerning this problem. Toyota's answer was that is was not their problem. The rusting is now 1/4 of the way up the frame of the van on both sides. Every chip in the paint rusts, regardless of size. This vehicle was bought new. The wheels were replaced in 2008 by Toyota, as a result in a defect in the metal which caused the paint on the wheels to bubble and chip away.

8 Paint problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/30/2007

The first incident is that the passenger side sliding door started to rub the paint off the body, so we disabled it since the dealer said it was out of warranty and would cost us $1800. A couple years later the driver side sliding door seized and wouldn't close. I had to drive to where my wife and kids were stranded and cut the door's cables, so she could drive home. A couple years after that I receive an extended warranty letter from Toyota for their sliding doors, however, since there is a 120,000 mile stipulation and ours had more miles than that they said sorry we are out of luck. Toyota extended the warranty because they knew there was a problem with their sliding doors, but set stipulations, like mileages, so many people could not take advantage!!! I also had a problem with the driver's door hinge weld breaking, the dealer once again told me there was no recall and it would cost me a few hundred dollars to weld it back together. After looking at the hinge's weld I could tell it was an assembly misstake. Since I know how to weld I removed the door myself and re-welded the hinge. Several months after fixing it myself I found out there was a recall.

9 Paint problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

Within 1 year of purchasing vehicle new the wheels started to show signs corrosion in the form of bubbling of the finish. We contacted our local dealer and they said it was due to road salt and me not cleaning them properly and I would have to pay to replace them. We took the vehicle back to the dealer shortly before the warranty ran out and again were told that it was our fault and we would have to pay to do something about it. We took it to the dealer one last time after the warranty and were told since the warranty was up they could do nothing for us. All 4 wheels are now corroded severely. Large chunks of paint routinely fall off during washing. I'm worried about safety at this point and plan to replace the rims at my own expense. I've owned multiple cars with similarly coated alloy rims and have never had this issue before. It wasn't due to me cleaning them properly, it's a manufacturing defect.
