Toyota issues the airbag recall in July for 2023 Tacomas and said a remedy would be available in August. Ive call once a week since the start of August to schedule my drive side airbag recall repair and they keep saying Toyota doesnt have a remedy yet and it could be upwards of a year. For a drive side air bag defect. This should be blatantly illegal as it puts fear into driving my vehicle as I may not have a airbag so in a accident I can be further injured because of a corporation’s negligence. Im embarrassed to own a Toyota after this. Peoples lives are at stake and dragging this recall on will cost customers their health or even worse their lives.

Srs lite came on and never has gone out, for the driverside air bag. After investagating this problem, it seems that hundreds of these Toyotas have the same problem. At the dearship, diagnosis, is about $115. 00 to pull the code, and then run up to about $500. 00 for repairs. The spiral cable in the steering colomne has a short life. 35k mile on some and up in miles after that for others. Srs systems such as this I understand is lifetime warrenty. That may be cut short if the air bag does not inflate if needed. Toyota should be responable, and fix this problem, as the cost of repair is out of reach for many people. Using inferior wires, that is not the consumers fault. I bought this Toyota new, thinking that Toyota will last a long time, it has been serviced at the dealership regular, and on time. Please help in this matter, as it affects many owners and life. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Noted pain in back while driving. After repeated close inspection of driver's seat, noted very slight protrusion in seat back. Took to miller Toyota in manassas, va and service agent has reported that a spring had come loose and that it had also cut the wire to the side air bag, which made the air bag inoperative. Passenger side air bag vibration when motor is running. Returned to local dealership due to loud rattle in dash board. Dealer inspected and reported that a majority of the clips holding the passenger side airbag in place were not there. Dealer ordered replacement clips and dashboard bolts and repair was made. In October 2003 rattle returned and a bolt appeared on the passenger floor board. Returned vehicle to dealership where inspection took place. Mechanic suggested that someone had hit the dashboard to loosen bolts, not the case, yet no attempt to repair or tighten equipment was made.
