Air Bag Light On Problems of Toyota Tacoma - part 1

I bought the vehicle and realized when I was sold the vehicle the passenger airbag off indicator was on but I thought it would be a quick connection error. The front driver side headlight is very dim and does not illuminate well. I contacted crown Dodge of fayetteville and they told me they can't do anything. This was a little over a month after because life happens and I work with the military. I don't have a regular schedule. I do have a warranty but I'm not using my warranty to cover something they should fix. When I called to talk to a sales manager no one would answer it rang and rang. The computer on the vehicle will show the air bag sensor at least.

Vehicle airbag light stayed on. And is still on . Took the Toyota to the dealership. They ran a diagnostics test on it. Someone came back to inform I needed new airbags. They said moisture entered the airbags . May cause the air bag to malfunction. They new about the takata airbags recall . So I assumed it would be fixed for free. No I had to pay the bill. So I didn't. What can I do?.

Cruise control became finicky spring/summer 2019. I found articles stating that it could be the clockspring/spiral cable. I replaced the clockspring and that fixed the cruise control issue, but it caused my airbag light to turn on. I have been driving around with the airbag light on for the last year and a half. Over that time, the radio controls on the steering wheel have quit working (first the volume, then the channel, and the mode buttons). These haven't been working for at least 3 months now. Just yesterday, the cruise control went out completely. No warning signs or acting up. It just quit. From what research I have done, this issue was handled under a recall, but the recall only applies to the Tacoma models without audio controls on the steering wheel. Has that changed at all? why were not all versions/configurations covered?.

My airbag light came on for no apparent reason. There was a recall for other Toyota Tacomas for an air bag spiral assembly however my model was not included. I took the truck to a Toyota dealer who informed me that the cable and connections were rusty and the air bag would not function in a crash unless the assembly was replaced. I paid out of pocket to have the cable replaced.

2016 totyota Tacoma purchased from stokes brown Toyota new. The seatbelt airbag light for passenger side front seat blinks continually even when vehicle is parked and off.

I was driving home from work with my boyfriend when he moved in the seat and the seatbelt and airbag lights on my dash came on and now they won't turn off.

Airbag light illuminated disabling the vehicle's airbag systems potentially causing severe injury during a collision. Dealership inspection revealed failure in the airbag spiral cable, an existing known fault recalled on other 2010 model year Tacomas by Toyota. This particular VIN was not included in the 2014 Toyota recall of 2009-2010 for spiral cable failure. Toyota currently has no plans to expand their previous recall to fix this issue on other affected vehicles.

Air bag fault indicator is on immediately when vehicle is started , and does not go off . Vehicle is equipped with the 16 channel spiral cable. Also the horn is inoperative.

At approximately 128k miles, the air bag light illuminated and will not go out. The problem was first noticed while driving, but nothing happened to the vehicle that would have been an obvious cause. Additionally, the vehicle has been continually garaged since I purchased it new in 2003.

60,000 miles. Three years ago the airbag light came on. We brought it and paid for diagnostics but no answers. Now the check engine light and track off are lighting (not related to first issue) and the truck is in slowdown mode. We replaced the gas-cap but it didn't fix the issue. My Toyota Tacoma (2007) appears to qualify for the airbag recall but searching my VIN does not bring it up. The manufacturing facility, dates and VIN range all seem to match. How do I challenge this or appeal to have this corrected? the airbag light is constantly on I am told it will cost hundreds of dollars to fix the spiral spring. Please help!.

The airbag light just turned on. Cruise control on steering wheel is not functioning, audio control on steering not working also and lastly the horn is not working also. Looks like a spiral cable problem based on the symptom and validation of discussion group online. Checked for recall here and seen my VIN number on the range for recall. Why did I not received any recall notice on this. Not sure if the vehicle is unsafe to drive considering the airbag deployed light is on or if this will affect the airbag deloyment if needed. This happened just recently and there are issues similar to my case. Hope it can be fixed by Toyota.

I was driving down the interstate going about 75 mph and my driver side and rear passenger side curtain airbags deployed spontaneously. I didn't hit anyone or anything. It just deployed for no reason and causing me to almost crash into nearby cars on the highway. There were no alarm indicators stating that I had any issues or that I needed to service my Tacoma. When the airbags deployed I was able to keep the Tacoma stable and I noticed that I started losing speed even when I had my foot on the gas. I eventually coasted to the shoulder of the highway before coming to a dead stop.

I got my air bag light on, solid light now, I conected the scanner and read code b1801. I checked in internet that could be a recall for some trucks. I went to the dealer and it doesnt show that my truck has that recall on. I need to do my smog and now because I have the airbag on I can not do it. Can you guys help me. . The contact, a certified Toyota mechanic, diagnosed that the spiral cable was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to NHTSA. The manufacturer's representative informed the contact that NHTSA was responsible for the scope of the recall even though the recall was voluntary. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

"takata recall" my airbag light came on recently. I took vehicle into auto shop, they replaced the airbag sensor located under the battery and cleared codes. The airbag light remained off for approx 30 days. Light kept coming back on every few days. I kept taking vehicle to auto shop where thy would clear the codes. This is a weekly routine. I have been informed that eventually the light will stay on permanently. Is this true? and is there a recall for airbags on this vehicle? I'm afraid the airbags might deploy while being driven.

My 2003 matrix had less than 40,000 original miles when the dash air bag light came on. Toyota recalled the matrix for this problem and was corrected in 2013. My 2003 Tacoma truck's current mileage is only 29,667 original miles. At approximately 28,000 miles the dash air bag light came on. A friend who specializes in Toyota repairs checked it and said it was the b1100-air bag sensor module. . Toyota has yet to recall the 2003 Tacoma for an air bag problem.

Dear [xxx], I sincerely appreciate your email but I am completely satisfied with my 2002 Toyota Tacoma pick up truck at the moment with 134,000 miles as of today. The problem lies with the ?defective air bags and defective computer air bag. ? over a year ago, this was accessed from haley located off rt 288 and the air bag light was coming on at that time. I paid for a diagnostic testing and it should have been resolved then, not to reoccur a year later. In any case, if a Toyota vehicle has defective parts such as the air bag and its computer that is the responsibility of the manufacturer to replace the part and absorb the labor and costs involved to do so not at the expense of the client. The client did not cause the problem, it is a defect in the manufacturing of the vehicle. The problem I am now facing is that haley Toyota wants me to absorb this cost of parts and labor to the tune of $711. 00 for a defective air bag. I have not been in contact with an attorney specializing in auto injury, but with some research and taking with a friend of mine who is a lawyer; he highly suggests that unless Toyota replaces the parts and labor at their expense that I should proceed with hiring an attorney and explain what is going on with the air bag and what haley has said. For haley to dismiss this defective part and say that they cannot be responsible is in itself an ?egregious? remark for which they can be liable for if something were to happen while the passenger is driving the car/truck in questioned. Infact, they should never have allowed me to leave the premise this past Friday knowing all of this, because if a major accident were to happen they would be totally responsible as well as Toyota itself. Airbag light on, driving.

Airbag light on dash turned on. From researching it on the internet seems to be a common problem. Sounds like part of the airbag system is defective and becomes inoperable.

The air bag indicator light has come on in the dash. It is indicating that the driver side air bag is inoperative due to a falty squib. This is a major safety concern.
