While driving 60 mph the ball joints failed. It came completely from under the truck. There was no warning. There was no accidents. Consumer contacted the dealer. There were no recalls.

37 Ball Joint problem of the 2004 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/10/2005

Gas tank defect, sometimes it indicates empty tank but it is not empty, sometimes it indicate full tank but it is not full. This tank is unpredictable possibly a manufacturing defect. Also the tires wears faster on the outer surface uneven. Sometimes the vehicle veers off to left and sometimes to the right may be related to ball joints defect or sloppy Toyota technician work or both. Updated 02/01/08.

38 Ball Joint problem of the 2002 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/16/2004

I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra with 39,000 miles on it. I was going 15-20 mph and aproaching a on ramp to the highway when my front drivers side ball joint snapped. I had my 4 month old son in the car with me. Luckily I was able to stop without getting into a accident but wonder what would have happened if we were on the highway. Toyota said I must have hit something in order for it to fail and refused to contact the NHTSA and refused to cover the expense of having it fixed. $1900.

39 Ball Joint problem of the 2004 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 08/13/2004

The front end shimmied and the outside of the frnt tire began to wear. The dealer did wheel balance and alignment bu the shimmying continued when driving slow. Had the vehicle to the dealer at least 3 times but the deale r could not find anything wrong with it. The ball joint recall did not include the consumer's vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the first time on Aug ust 13, 2004.

40 Ball Joint problem of the 2002 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/05/2004

While driving 25 mph without hitting anything, the front passenger tire collapsed under the vehicle without warning. The consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealership. The dealership replaced the ball joints but blamed the driver hitting something to cause them to break. Pe04040_cat.

41 Ball Joint problem of the 2000 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 10/20/1999

Left front ball joint failed, while towing a trailer with my wife and a two year old. Mechanic found "severe rust" and stated vehicle was not safe drive.
