4 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2005 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 09/13/2016

"takata recall" on or around August 23, 2016 I called a toll free phone number either off a recall notification flyer I received in the mail or from a voice message on our home phone regarding the passenger airbag inflator on my 2005 Toyota Tundra truck. They asked where I wanted my vehicle fixed and I chose wilde Toyota (3225 s 108th st, west allis, WI) since that is where I bought the truck from and have done a variety of repairs on this and other vehicles. The operator called their service department and I was notified the part would need to be ordered. I wasn't given any time frame, but I assumed it couldn't take long. I called wilde Toyota today (September 13, 2016), and I was informed it was ordered as promised, but it would take 3 months!! I was never notified of this. I was told I shouldn't have someone in the front passenger seat. How does Toyota expect a vehicle to be used for 3 months without allowing a passenger in the front seat. I don't understand why they wouldn't have an inventory on hand to handle quick turnaround. I understand it could be hard to manage , but 3 months is ridiculous.

5 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2006 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Takata inflators Toyota notified me that replacement parts were available in my geographic area in February 2016. When I called to schedule an appointment, I was told that parts were not available until September 2016. This is an unacceptable time frame to repair a defective vehicle. Are there any other remedies?.

Every time they stated that the part needed to be ordered so they would call me back on my cellphone to schedule the install when the part arrived. Years have gone by and they still never call me back, and claim the part needs to be ordered every time I do talk to someone.

9 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2005 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 10/23/2015

Notified of safety recall on or about 6/16/2015, dealer# d3f, NHTSA id# 15v285 and an interim notice sometime after that for front passenger airbag inflators. As of yet no parts have been available in NJ. And no parts will be available for the foreseeable future??? are you kidding me?? takata apparently knew about this problem since early 2013 and parts are still not available?? and while my vehicle wasn't added to the list until 6/2015, the company knew there was a problem well before that. Having to wait 4-6 months (if I'm lucky) for a recalled part is unacceptable and I realize there are many, many vehicles involved but really?? some people may actually not have their vehicles fully operational or safe for upwards of 2. 5 years? is takata or Toyota going to pay us for the time these vehicles are not fully operational because when I bought my truck I intended on getting full safe use out of it not partial use. Sorry to blow off steam on you but I am very frustrated, disappointed and concerned with this whole situation as I'm sure many others are. In any event, if you have any additional information on when this part will be available in NJ please let me know.

11 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2006 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 07/22/2015

Toyota is being dishonest and scamming consumers on the safety recall for the front passenger airbag inflator module. I received a recall letter on July 22 and called local Toyota dealer the same day. They set up an appointment on July 28 to take care of the recall. The letter from Toyota is written to cover their negligence and liability by stating to not use the passenger seat. This basically takes the vehicle out of use for many things a truck provides outside of a single driver. July 28 - the local Toyota dealer tells me after 2 hours that Toyota does not have the parts and I will need to come back at a later date. Again Toyota has limited or removed my ability to use the vehicle as intended. No date on parts were given by Toyota dealer. Call to Toyota USA customer experience center yields the following - Toyota states they told the dealers that parts are not available and do not know when they will be available. Toyota says the dealer should not have scheduled an appointment. Looks like Toyota can not get the basics of communications down. Bottom-line - Toyota is not doing the repairs, does not know when it will and vehicles have to be limited in use or not used based on the Toyota "strongly recommends" statement to not allow passengers. Now I have to wait and hope someone from Toyota contacts us when the parts are there as I have fulfilled my part to contact Toyota and return the truck.

13 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2005 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 06/16/2015

Received a notice from Toyota on June 16 2015 saying that it is unsafe to drive the car with someone in the front passenger seat due to faulty air bag inflator which may rupture and seriousely injure the passenger. Notice said that the dealer would replace the item when they get the parts. It is now October 2, 2015 and the dealer stil not have the part. Toyota says the part is not available and does not know when it will be. This is unacceptable for the largest car manufacturer in the world not to have a part needed to fix a potentially fatal defect over 3 months from notification. In the mean time my use of the truck is severely restricted, I can't sell the truck due to disclosure issues. This is another case of puttng corporate profits ahead of customer's lives. I will not buy another Toyota.

14 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2006 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

Takata recall. The recall started almost a year ago for the los angeles area. The suggestion Toyota gave me until the inflator is available is to transport no person in the front passenger seat. This is our adventure vehicle: snowboarding, kayaking, road biking, mountain biking, camping, scuba diving, etc. I do all of the things with my wife and friends. Am I really expected to transport no one in the front passenger seat for this long? it is completely unfair to put my family and friends either at risk or to make it almost impossible to use my truck the way it was intended to be used. My complaint is that it is taking too long to get the inflator needed for Toyota to fix this dangerous problem.

15 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

I received a safety recall notice from Toyota, for my vehicle, due to a problem with the front passenger airbag inflator module. I called my local dealership to schedule an appointment for repair and was told they were not authorized by Toyota to make the repair at this time. I called the Toyota customer experience center at 1-888-270-9371 to ask about the recall. I was told the remedy notice was sent to me by mistake and that only certain states were included, for a no charge remedy, due to limited parts available. My complaint is that all states are not currently repairing this safety issue. The recall notice says "there is a risk of serious injury.

16 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/12/2014

We have received two safety notices about the recall of our vehicle for front passenger airbag inflator module. The safety notices are not dated, however it has been at least 4 months since receiving. When taking the vehicle to the authorized dealer, we were told they do nothave the parts to repair per recall notice. We were told at that time, we would have to wait for a third notice. What a waste of money to continue to send out recall notices and not be able to complete the work required, let alone the safety factor. The problem has been identified, owners notified and 6 months later, here we sit.

17 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

Takata recall - I got the recall and went to my dealer to have them check it, 4-01-14, (59,317miles) got another recall to replace the inflator air bag part (3-13-15). The air bag check light came on after I left the dealer (3-31-2015). I came back and showed them the check light on for the air bag. The serviceman couldn't find the problem. I waited about an hour and half for them to fix the check light problem. This recall started while my truck was still warranty. The dealer said I'm out of warranty back in 3-31-15 when I showed them the check light and I told them it happened when the serviceman replaced the takata inflator. I'm not going to pay for any of this, they probably just left a wire off. I've been driving my truck since then and I'm afraid the air bag will explode anytime or when I hit a bump. I need a good dealer to fix it and pay for a rental car if I need it. I contacted Toyota customer and they said, " . . . . Oh, your were out of warranty when they installed it. . ". Are these people stupid or what?????.

18 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Tundra

Takata inflators - I haven't heard back from you. . . . . . Complaint # 10948526 serviceman was working on the air bag on my truck and service light was on when I left the dealership. This isn't a warranty problem, the serviceman made a mistake and caused the air bad bag light come on.

19 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/04/2013

Received safety recall notice approximately sometime November 2013, while living in roseburg, or, regarding "front passenger airbag inflator module" defect in my 2003 Toyota Tundra . I have made several calls to dealerships on a regular basis to inquire when I would be able to get this recall completed. I received this notice well before the thousands of other vehicles were recalled for air bag issues. I was told I must wait for a second notice before repairs could take place. I need to know what my rights are or what I can do to get my vehicle fixed. I am concerned for my safety and the safety of others. Thank you, christine shull 541-497-0705 10250 e mountain view rd. #284 | scottsdale, 85258.

20 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 07/11/2013

Took my truck to dealer on 7/11/2013 for air bag light on. Dealer said light related to preliminary recall. Dealer kept my truck for over 30 days until Toyota decided what to do. Finally I picked up my truck on 8/12/2013 air bag light was off. Dealer indicated the airbag is ok notes from dealer: dif- safety recall dof (dif) pre liminary notice 2003-2004 model year Tundra vehicles front passe nger air bag inflator module ins pection. Dealer advised the light is not related to recall and is not under warranty. They could not say what was wrong and wanted me to pay for additional diagnosis. They could not say how long it would take or what could be wrong but were insistent that is was not related to safety recall. Now I am without an airbag and they won't fix it. This does not make sense!!! how could it not be related to the recall?.
