My son borrowed my 2004 Tundra to help a friend move. When he arrived, he walked to rear of truck and the spare tire fell to the ground. Upon checking I found that the winch mechanisam that holds the spare tire was rotted. This is definitely a safety hazard. I have read horror stories about tires falling off while in traffic and serious injuries incurred. There should be a recall on this.
