Vw has implemented a so-called and unwanted safety feature called "hill assist" which locks the brakes on manual transmisson models which has many times nearly caused an accident. This system locks the brakes when the clutch is activated and brakes are applied and can prevent the car from moving forward for two to three seconds, or cause a vehicle stall. This system activates for two to three seconds and can't be modified or turned off. This system also works on a predetermined amount of time and no user interaction can change the time or hold/braking force. This is particularly dangerous in a left hand turn situation with multiple cars where a stall or hesitation for the car could prove dangerous or fatal. Vw should turn this feature off or allow users to turn it off completely, without having to turn it off for every startup.

The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Gti. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v110000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was previously taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and the intake manifold, fuel injector, spark plugs, carbon block, and camshaft adjuster magnet were replaced. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,630. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
This recall was issued in Feb 2024 and there is still not a remedy available. Feb 14,2024 manufacturer recall number20uf NHTSA recall number24v110 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available I am smelling gas in my car intermittently and this could be related to the recall. We need a remedy for this now. So I am issuing this complaint.

Camshaft broken due deficiency on quality of the product, they have a recall of many cars but for casualty my car is not on the list, va don’t want to fix it and now I have to spend mor than 5500.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? coolant leak from very known area which is the water pump. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? if leaks to much it can cause the car to run very hot and have to pull over. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes most dealers do say it is a common problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no.
There is an issue with the thermostat housing that causes coolant to leak out. This can cause the water pump to fail or if enough of the coolant leaks it can cause the engine to over heat and fail. The thermostat housing is totally sealed so this is a manufacture defect that happens on the make of my car and should have a recall on the part. There were no warning lights or indicators to let me know of this issue. I brought the car in to my local Volkswagen dealer (dealer of purchase of the car) for another recall to be serviced and I was informed of this issue and need to have it fixed or risk having major issues with the car. I checked online and found many other car owners with this same issue so it seems to be systematic and a failure in the part in question.
After 3500 miles my radiator came loose and pushed a lower coolant hose into the alternator belt, chewed through the hose and all the coolant leaked out. Now my car is sitting at a dealer lot awaiting the replacement hose which is on back order in the entire country with no eta. After this incident I realize this is a common issue(posts on facebook & reddit) and for whatever reason vw doesn't seem to be addressing this issue. At the very least they should be shipping a large shipment of these hoses to the us so customers can get back on the road ASAP.

Factory radiator came loose while driving causing the radiator to fall towards engine block. Lower radiator hose was cut by the crank or ac pulley causing all the coolant drain out. Dealer is replacing the radiator hose, but is not addressing the radiator falling out of place. Car had 6,900 miles when the fault happened. The car not been in an accident or been modified in any way.
Vehicle started to show intermittent coolant gauge fluctuation with simultaneous loss of cruise control function. The coolant gauge would show cold, then hot. After visiting a dealer, a coolant leak was identified from a crack in the thermostat/water pump housing along with corrosion in the coolant bottle. In addition, the trunk latch failed, likely from a faulty windshield washer fluid valve leaking onto the electrical equipment. All parts were replaced. Within another 3 months the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. All parts were repaired at a Volkswagen dealer. The overheating of the engine and failure of the fuel pump could have caused engine failure and the car to lose immediate power, causing a fire or crash. The faulty rear door latch could have caused the door to open while driving. All of these issues occurred without warning. Check engine light, epc and disabled cruise control lights came on at the time of the problem. The vehicle also restricted the speed of the car and maximum rpms allowed.
The coolant shutoff valve/water pump has failed twice in a little over 13,000 miles. The first incident caused the engine to overheat and go into "lump mode" on the highway and would not go over 45 mph. In the 2nd incident, the coolant shutoff value because stuck in an open position, resulting in poor gas mileage and an engine that takes much longer than normal to reach operating temperature. Problem has been confirmed by the dealer that performed all scheduled maintenance. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or others. Warning lamps: I was not the driver during the first incident. The 2nd incident, the engine warning light came on within a couple of days of a major maintenance at the dealership.

Electronically controlled thermostat failed stuck closed on December 10, 2021. Vehicle had 63814 miles on the odometer. This is a common, known problem with this make/model. Engine overheated in stop and go traffic which caused limp home torque reduction. When traffic resumed there was a potentially dangerous situation because vehicle could not accelerate as quickly as expected by following drivers. There is a design flaw in that the thermostat should fail stuck open, and not stuck closed, to ensure adequate vehicle mobility to avoid a potentially dangerous situation. Additionally, this component is an on-board diagnostic device belonging to the emissions control system. Failure should be covered under the federal emissions control warranty.
The heat in my 2015 Gti autobahn only blows warm air out of the drivers side when heat is on for both sides. The vw dealership recommends a new thermostat, water pump, and heater core, and blend door. For now, I'm stuck with having a semi warm vehicle and the possibility of engine overheating while on the highway. With the coolant and thermostat being one of the vital parts of the vehicle, its upsetting for such a new vehicle to have such a common problem of needing a new water pump across the board. These types of imperfections in design and quality control need to be addressed due to the shear amount of people needing coolant related issues resolved on their own dime. Do better vw.
Linkage on the turbo wastegate actuator seizes if the car is not driven for more than a few months at a time. This causes the car to not produce any boost and leaves it in a state in between limp mode and normal rpm range. This makes it incredibly inconsistent with rpm and maintaining speed.
Hello - I own a mk7 vw Gti with approximately 42,000 miles. The vehicle has consistently had a "check engine" and "low coolant" light since approximately 20,000 miles and 3 years. The dealer checked the car but did not see a leak under their test. However, the car was diagnosed with a leaking water pump and thermostat which has been replaced out of pocket by an independent. This is apparently common with mk7 Gtis and can cause engine failure and stalling in the middle of the road.
The engine blew while stopped at a light at an intersection. The car was unable to restart. We were told there was no compression in cylinder 3. This car had received regular maintenance at the dealer. If the car had been in motion, the driver and passengers could have been seriously injured. The engine only had 67,000 miles on it and no known problems beforehand.

My car has, on several occasions, slammed the breaks on while I’m reversing, while suggesting that I am about to hit something, even though there is nothing there. It is very scary because I have no way of knowing when this will happen. Also it turns off the head unit and goes black while I am in reverse or trying to follow the directions. And finally the key sensor keeps saying my keys are not in the car while they are right there (had the battery replaced and that wasn’t the problem) additionally the wipers are dangerous and go off for no reason constantly.

Paid to have new vw turbo put in car and it lasted 116 miles. Took it back and it was diagnosed that the turbo had failed and the turbine broke and fell into the motor. As a result it blew the motor. Vw warranty refused to warranty the part and take any responsibility for the blown engine. Even the dealer ship agreed it was a faulty turbo and as a result it blew the engine.
It sucks in too much air and fails as if it had a sparkplug fault it wastes too much gas and sometimes suffocates and wants to turn off.
I have a 2015 Gti that has only 80,000 miles on it. I had a repair done to replace valves, coil springs, spark plugs and ignition coils last year due to failure of the engine. They claimed to fix this problem and a year later the same exact failure happened. The first time it cost 3,500 to fix with a customer loyalty discount. This time they suggest replacing the engine at a 14,000 price tag. There is clearly some design flaw that is causing this repeated failure in such a new car. Volkswagen doesn't back up the previous repair. With the frequency of this issue I'm sure there are other people with this same issue.
At the gas station, the vehicle does not allow for normal fuel up to occur. The pump nozzle keeps clicking off and I can't put more than 1/4 tank of gas without the fuel spilling out of the tank filler neck/tube. While driving, the vehicle is experiencing power loss that can be felt as a sudden "bucking" motion when accelerating normally and at constant cruise speeds above 40 mph. The Volkswagen dealer diagnosis reported plugged evap canister vent lines and fuel tank and recommended replacement. The car only has 52,500 miles and I'm the original owner. Many owners of this year model in other states are reporting the exact same fuel up issue on internet auto forums.
After having my 2015 vw se 4-dr 2. 0t auto pzev into the dealership's service center for a/c issues. Two weeks later the engine light came on and I immediately parked the car. The car was towed to the dealership with this as the problem. Replace engine and turbo! over $17,000!.

After 55k miles, my car had a waterpump leak that seems common in the forums I attend.
Car is vw golf Gti with six-speed manual transmission. Car has 400 miles from new. While coming to a stoplight at slow speed, with clutch pedal fully depressed and transmission in neutral, engine turned off. The action was so quiet that it was not noticeable. When the light turned green, I engaged first gear and released the clutch pedal, but did not move forward. Only then did I realize that the engine was not running. After depressing the clutch pedal and pressing the start button, the engine re-started immediately and I was able to move off as normal.

I purchased the car as new in tampa, FL on January 17, 2020. The trim level is autobahn, and its transmission is a six speed manual. On three occasions, when slowing to a stop, with both clutch pedal and brake pedal depressed, the engine has died. In two of these incidents the engine did not restart on first attempt, but only on the second try. The current odometer reading is just under 400 miles. The time between these incidents was 2 to 10 days apart. None of these incidents occurred on a thoroughfare. One was on my driveway, whereas the other two were in a store or restaurant parking area. Aside from these three episodes, the car drives perfectly. Two date from the last two weeks of January, 2020, whereas the third was on February 1, 2020.
Persistent coolant migration problem, wherein coolant migrates through wiring harness connection on coolant reservoir and travels through the wiring harness to other sensors and engine control equipment on the vehicle, corroding and destroying key components of the cars electronics and safety control systems. This repair has cost thousands of dollars to address, and it still not solved.
While driving at low speeds and coming to a stop, the engine may sputter as if it isn't getting the correct air/fuel mixture and shuts off. This is an s trim Volkswagen Gti with a manual transmission and driver assistance package. The incident(s) occurred while in neutral on the three occasions it has happened. The vehicle has 700 miles on the odometer. I believe this to be an engine/electrical system issue.
While driving to work, my vehicle would lose acceleration as I press on the gas and would not accelerate right away. Also as I'm in park or idling in traffic, the car would shut off but the vehicle lights would still function.
Thermostat & housing failure. Loss of coolant over time, period of 3 months. Had to refill coolant multiple times during that period.
