Vehicle was included in the abs recall in 2017. Dealer didn't replace the module at the time, stating that the software was updated, which would detect the failure before it actually happened. Customer was told that if the abs light came up, just returned for the replacement of the module for free because it was under warranty. When the said light came up after a few thousand miles, customer returned to the dealer. Dealer indicated that it was covered under the warranty and ordered the module for replacement. Customer was advised that it was safe to drive locally while waiting for a month for an appointment. Customer was informed that it was free multiple times until after the long wait for an appointment and hours of waiting during the actual service, when �nothing has been done� because it was not free. Dealer explained that the error code in the vehicle was different from the ones on a piece of paper that they had for the recall replacement. Customer asked what the codes meant and what was the problem with the vehicle; dealer didn't know. However, dealer advised customer to have the module replaced at customer's cost.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. After taking my 2010 Volkswagen Jetta to my yearly texas inspection it did not pass because is has the brake and the abs light on. The abs light is illuminated with fault code 01130 and or 16352- abs replacement after 45f2 recall. The dealer recall #16v913000 & t. S. B# 45-1704 where in clearly includes my vehicle in the range of VIN numbers affected by this fault. Volkswagen does not want to honor this recall because it does not show up in their system with my VIN#. But as stated before there is a "recall #16v913000 & t. S. The part that I do not understand is that Volkswagen know that they had that effect and my car has it but since they do not have my car int he list they do not want to honor the recall. Turned on the car one day and the abs light came on and the emergency brake indicator started flashing on the dash. It lasted for a few days and then went away, but came back again a day later. I took the vehicle in to get it inspected and the anti-lock brake (abs) control module was faulty and had to be removed and replaced, which cost me over $2000. My complaint is that there is a recall for the same exact problem for the same year, make, and model of my car but a different engine type, therefore, it does not apply to my car (according to the VIN and your website). The recall campaign number that I am referencing is 16v913000. After reading other complaints, it seems I am not alone in my frustrations and that many others are affected by this issue as well.

2010 vw Jetta se not long after purchasing teh vehicle used in 2016, the abs and esc lights started coming on. We didn't really notice any change in the vehicle performance, but were concerned about the lights being on, especially since it concerned the brakes and stability. On 6/14/19 we took the vehicle to the local dealer to have this issue checked out. The receipt from that visit showed that the abs pump and module had faults. The dealership recommended replacing both at a cost of $2,610. We asked the service person what would happen if we didn't replace them and he said the brakes would still work but the abs might not function properly, but that we should be ok. We have continued to drive the vehicle with the lights on most of the time since then without any noticeable performance change; however, performance is starting to become an issue. The abs and esc lights have been remaining illuminated for quite some time now. Also in the last month or two the check engine light is now starting to come on periodically with a corresponding issue with the steering being more difficult. We are becoming more concerned about safety. As a result, we took the vehicle to an independent repair shop this week to get the problem checked out. He informed us that there is an active recall (16v913000) that would correct all of these issues. He gave us a copy of the recall and said we would need to take it to the local dealer to have the repair done. We contacted the local vw dealer and they told us the recall doesn't apply to our vehicle, so I then called the national vw customer service number and was told the same thing. What can we do to have vw honor the recall for our vehicle?.

Recall 45f2 was performed on 3/11/19. Abs light came on, indicating abs had been disengaged on 5/20/19, which is the problem that should have been fixed with the recall. Returned vehicle to dealership where recall was performed. Was informed that I needed to pay for part that was defective and the reason for the recall, abs modulator. I had made an appointment with Volkswagen dealership to have my car looked at because of the recall. My abs light came on and has been on for weeks. It hasn't turned off. Airbag, brake, abs lights are on and stays on. 3 loud beeps when turning on the car. Received recall notification but my VIN does not show recall when looked up which is also alarming. According to the vw dealer, this is a factory/ manufacturer defect (cheap parts from china and bad installation is what I told) but they cannot fix since VIN is not showing up in their system. My entire airbag system is completely shut down as well as brake system. I am in a panic!!! but dealer will not fix factory defect and is charging $1700-$2200 to fix. This is alarming as well as unfair to consumers!!! this needs to be addressed!!! people could die because of this. And this is not an understatement! correct your your recall and VIN tracking system and fix my car! thank you.

When driving on a windey road the abs light came on and the car was breaking funny. I checked online to see if there was any recalls on my vehicle and found that the abs module software needed to be updated. The recall also stated that the abs module may need to be replaced due to this problem. I took it in and had the update installed, so now that I have it back, it is worse than ever. They said that I would need to replace the abs module for $1,6665 in order to get my car working right again. "wasn't it included" I asked. They said it was a separate problem and the error code was not in the perimeters. I'm not the only one with this problem do to Volkswagen's screw up with the software. I've checked around and there are many others that are having the same problems. Just the other day the epc light came on and the speedometer stopped working because apparently the abs module on this vehicle also tracks your speed. I'm not the only one and this is a blatant fault towards Volkswagen and their shady practice.

But I don't the one paragraph in my letter above stating "please be aware that other conditions (unrelated to the issue described in this letter) may cause the abs system warning light in your vehicle to illuminate. Customers should be prepared to cover diagnostics and repair costs associated with these other, unrelated conditions". . . . Really! are you fkm! I'm supposed to trust them when they tell me. . . . "were sorry sir, but your problem is not related to the recall and the repair will cost you $650. 00, thank you" haha, Volkswagen is just trying to recoup the money they lost to the tdi scam. Never seen such a mischievous recall in my life! I have been having this problem for years now, rain or snow. If I turn the car off and back on it seams ok.

While driving the vehicle, I had to stop quickly due to possible impact with a car which ran a red light. My abs kicked in to prevent wheel lock up and suddenly esp/abs lights came on along with 3 loud beeps and my wheels locked up. Abs/esp lights stayed on and my traction control, stability control and abs did not function anymore. Conventional braking was still working normal and car was drive-able. Upon performing a abs/esp scan for faults, it indicated a internal failure of the abs control module. Turning the car on and off resets the lights and abs function is restored, but if you attempt to do another panic stop- all the lights come on and anti-lock brakes do not function- brakes lock up.

Car was taken into dealership in April 2015 for inspection. Needed new struts and driver door panel, door needed fixed due to no lights on locks and door itself would not lock. Paid $1400 for everything when picking up the car, got in car and radio did not work when picking up. Said it was a fuse, never fixed the problem. September 2015 windshield wipers quit working. $45 for that repair. 2-3 weeks later battery died. Replaced the battery for $111. 3-4 weeks later battery was dead again, had to tow it to shop. Replaced battery again $200+ parts and labor. 3-4 weeks later after replacing the battery twice, same thing happens again. Car is dead, towed to shop again. Can't figure out the problem, towed to dealership. Taken to a dealership for one problem of the car being dead now there is a shifter problem and the abs unit needs replaced. The abs lights were not on while the car was at the last shop before this dealership. The car hasn't been driven for approximately 5-6 months if not longer due to these issues. How does my abs unit need replaced if it hasn't been driven?.

My abs light has been on and I don't know how to get it to turn off. My traction control light has been on and don't know how to get it off. Abs warning light solid yellow, break light flashing red and beeping, esp/asr light solid yellow (inactive. ) vw dealership replaced abs module and pump total bill $ 3109. 44.

The abs light came on and the brakes soft as a marshmallow not warning notice got stopped and there was a hissing noise but no brake fluid on any of the brakes. . . . . . I've also been having issues with after replacing the water pump it keeping fluid in it also using the geico discount equipment to see how my driving is the engine light and the one above that the looks like a triangle. . . . Did the diagnostic came up with a 1000 code and one other the deal didn't find the 1000 code but reset with no luck turning them off after service.

My vw Jetta tdi had many problems since I purchased it. First, we had problems with the injection system imploding. They asked if we ever put in gasoline instead of diesel. I told them absolutely not. They wanted to charge me $6500 because car was out of warranty but service manager got vw to pay for it because I said I was going to get an attorney. On June 27, 2014 we had with an electrical problem where the battery was draining from a short in the radio modulator. The car had 101,348 miles. They fixed the problem which took 9 days to fix and cost $1238. 56. I noticed the radio would stayed on with the key out of the car after that though. Then we had the check engine, air bag, abs and traction lights on at 109,452. I took it to my service station on 11/28/2014, but he said the dealer had to program update the software and check the abs module for electrical problem. The dealer said it was the O2 sensor on number 2 cylinder. They found no problems with the air bag, abs module or traction control. They charged me $600. The lights were all off. On January 3, my 17 year old daughter and her girlfriend went to the movies last night with the car. It was lightly raining out. She left the movie theatre around 8:20 pm. She came up to an intersection that was turning red. She applied the brakes and skidded through the intersection hitting another vehicle that was crossing. She was doing about 40 mph. She said the car did not want to stop. She said there where lights on the dashboard when she was driving. People in the other car went to hospital.

My vehicle was stuck in a snow drift at the end of my road. I deactivated my electronic skid protection to get my vehicle free from the snow drift. I successfully made it onto the road and only going 20mpn due to icy roads and bad weather conditions. 1 to 2 miles down from where I was stuck, my abs and esp light came on and I almost lost control but because I was going so slow, I was a ble to keep it on the road. I pulled into the closest gas station to investigate and my rear brakes were locked up and would not come loose. I thought they may ahve been frozen so I cleaned what snow was on there and actuated the brakes several times, moving my vehicle back and forth to break them loose. This did not work so I drove it about 4 miles to the closest vw dealership, which was very difficult due to the icy roads and my rear wheels locked up. The vw technician told me that because my rear wheels were stuck in that snow drift and my front tires were trying to get me unstuck, a code popped up which activated my rear brakes. He cleared the code and my car works perfectly fine. If this "code" had tripped 10 minutes later, I would have been on the highway traveling at higher speeds on very bad road conditions and would have cause an accident. I do not know if the dealership was truthful as to what they found, if it was truly a code or if they were just frozen shut which created the code. I just wanted to create a complaint to log this issue in case this happens again, I have proof of the issue and complaint.

I am an aerospace engineering consultant. My 09 Jetta had rear passenger caliber, rotor, and brake line replace at 10,000 miles for excessive wear. 1st noticed when going around corners applying brakes a dragging effect would come from rear passenger brake. Dealer could not give any reason for this happening and replace rotor, caliper, and brake line at 10k. Summer time weather. Car exhibited the smell of hot brakes and rubber several times between the next failure. The next failure occurred at 34000 mile. Driver side rotor was so pitted and warped from excessive heat dealer replace rotor and caliper and gave no reason problem. Summer time weather. At 37080 mile on Feb 10 2011 at 4:30 am with outside temperature around 20f degrees I released parking brake and started driving to job site. The car felt like it was straining to accelerate. Within two miles from the house the car pulled violently to left , the abs light came on and the car stopped into oncoming traffic and would not move. I shut the esp system off car still work not move forward. I drove in reverse back to house about 1. 5 miles. When I looked at rear brake rotor on driver side since it was still dark the rotor was glowing red like the burner on electric stove. Smell of burning materials was in the air. Called dealer which is ancria of san antonio, TX. Dan minor the service manager thinks it was the emergency brake cable spring not releasing brake. Car was dropped of Friday Feb 11th 2011 at dealer. A case has been open with vw engineering. Vw dealer is clueless as to why this is happening. I suspect the good german engineers are too proud to say we have a problem fix what seems to be a well documented problem with 09 Jettas. Someone is going to get hurt and no one is listening. Thankfully the dealer has been replacing things to date.

Front passenger abs wire came out of bracket and rubbed on the axle. Abs light and traction control light came on. . . Abs is inoperable. Dealership said it was caused by snow and ice. We live in illinois where there is snow and ice 6 months out of the year. Why is this kind of engineering allowed in snowy climates if it is unable to probably function. This is a safety hazard as the brake line is also fastened to this bracket. When checking online this seems to be a very recurring issue. We will be needing to get this fixed. . . . Car is under warranty but they say this does not fall under the warranty. The repair is $506. 00 for an entire wire harness. We have owned autos and vans since the inception of abs. We have never had a vehicle that has had this problem.

I know for a fact that there has been a recall on this part for this year, make, model but am being told that mine is not one of them-that my VIN # does not fall into the recalled ones. I do not know how this can be since all other information matches up and am having an issue with the part, which I am being told can cause fire hazard!.

The contact stated on 8-16-05 while driving on the highway the car died. Then it lurched forward, stopped and lurched forward again. This was the fifth time the car has been at the dealers. The first time the check engine light came on, and they replaced a fuel injector. The second time the abs light, the air bag light, and the check engine light came on. They installed a full distributor rail. The third time the engine overheated, and the air conditioner would not work . They replaced the battery and cooling fans. The fourth time the check engine light came on again, and they replaced a valve. This last time the dealer gave him a loaner car. They have not diagnosed the problem yet. The dealer called on Friday to tell him they would not pay for the loaner car.
