40 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/07/2001

Engine transmission light failed after 3 months, both windows have fallen down into door, front bumper has been torn off, antena and other plastic objects around car have fallen off,abs system light is on again, cover for gas tank will not open (I had to pry it open), cup holders and mirror covers have broken, inside of car started to bubble after 6 months, because of the plastic. All the service department in san antonio could say was that I did not know how to manage car. I didn't know I had to take a class in opening the gas cover. Oddly enough, most of these things started to break after my two year warranty expired. All they had to say was that "when it rains it pours". I would never recommend this car to anyone.

42 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta

In Dec. 01 the brake and abs panel lights came on. The car manual said to take to mechanic immediately. I have relocated from NJ where I purchased the car to v. I. I was told by salesman, gary, that Volkswagen would cover waranty expenses just send receipt. When I called vw about the problem I was told to ship the car to pr which would cost me $1600. The property damage figure I can't afford the pr dealer is the closest I spoke to them they said master brake control unit or the la bomba need replacement cost $600 dollars and 400 respectively. They said perhaps they would send mechanic if I paid transportation and room. If the parts special tools (loaned) and instructions are sent my mechanic could do the job. What are my options? this is a brand new car which I paid over $20,000.

43 Brake Abs Warning Light problem of the 1998 Volkswagen Jetta

The abs indicator light came on and stayed on and then it went off again before I had the opportunity to take it in for a check. This happened in November 2001. Then recently the light came on and stayed on for about 3 months, so I took it to the dealer to be checked. They said that it needed an abs hydraulic pump. Although my brakes work fine, apparently my abs system is not working. The car will not pass inspection until I care for this matter, but at more than $1100. 00. I will have to wait until inspection to care for this item. I just thought I should report this to NHTSA while I had the opportunity. Dt.
