1 Brake Light On problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/06/2023

Fault on anti locking brake (abs), indicated by illumination on dash, esc light on and flashing brake light on. Dealer was notified that issue as listed in safety recall 16v-913 applies to other vehicles not listed on VIN range. This is a huge safety concern and needs to be addressed as others have indicated the same issue exists on their models not covered by VIN recall. Customer service (vw) was called, per dealer direction and customer service at vw does not know how to read the VIN codes or can tell me which VIN code makes the faulty abs module applicable or not applicable to my vehicle.

2 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/04/2021

My car was operating fine, then one day when starting it on my lunch break I heard three loud pitched beeps. Upon starting the car my abs and traction control lights were steadily on while the brake light was flashing. Clearing the codes, then driving about 15 mph the codes would show back up. Scanned it with a vcds scanner, and it shows 16352- control module- electrical error.

3 Brake Light On problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 12/13/2020

When starting my 2012 vw Jetta, the abs light, brake light, passenger air bag light come on on the dashboard along with a long beeping sound. The sound eventually stops but the lights stay on. Vehicle is trying to run through diagnostics upon starting (vehicle is stationary but lights remain on while driving) when these lights come on. The brakes on the vehicle are fine and do not need to be serviced per mechanic and vw. Personal mechanic along with authorized vw service pulled the following codes: 01130 abs operation not a plausible signal, 01317 control module, 01285 cluster, 01486 system function test failure. Vehicle mileage is approximately 63k. Abs module failure has been a known issue with these vehicles and there are tbs's and technical tips for troubleshooting as well as a recall for 2009-2010 Jetta's. Properly maintained vehicles should not require abs module replacements at 63k miles. Was also told that by authorized vw service that this vehicle also has a leaky vacuum pump. Total cost of repairs: $2,636 for replacement of abs module plus tax and $1,036 plus tax for replacement of the vacuum pump. Neither of these parts should need to be replaced on this 2012 vw Jetta with 63k miles. This is absurd. There should be a recall on these parts because, especially with the abs module, they are clearly defective. You will find many consumer complaints about the abs module on the web for this vehicle.

5 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/23/2020

Abs failure that aligns with NHTSA campaign number: 16v913000 appeared on my 2009 Jetta. Year, make, and model are covered in the recall though vw claims my VIN does not fall within the recall parameters. Solid abs warning light and blinking brake light. Private vw specialist determined we need abs module and pump at the cost of $2500 for a known issue or we will not have anit-lock brakes. Per the recall, this can cause a loss of vehicle control and can increase the risk of crash. Failure occurred at 81k miles.

8 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/16/2019

I have been told my car is not eligible for the abs module replacement claim but there is a problem with it as I drive the car. The brake light, traction control light and abs light are all on and flashing with a beep that is consistent once the key is in the ignition and it's a very distracting sound that I wish I could fix myself but even the part costs $600+ and to go to the dealer and get it fixed for $1800. I am a college student who doesn't have the funds to fix this issue and I have not been given a reason why my vehicle is not eligible for the fix.

9 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

My 2009 vw Jetta has the abs, electronic stability program (esp) warning lamps illuminated with a flashing brake warning light during normal highway driving. The abs system program was updated by my local vw dealer about two years ago as a part of a vw recall that was mailed to us. The car is extremely sensitive to wet or moist roads on a 90f day, it acts like it's driving on ice.

10 Brake Light On problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the brakes were faulty. The contact attempted to brake and the pedal went straight to the floorboard. In addition, the vehicle took longer than usual to stop. The contact stated that the air bag, seat belt, abs, and brake light indicators illuminated. The failure mileage was 1,193.

11 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/17/2019

My son was driving down a windy road (going about 30, in the city) when the brake light, traction control and abs lights turned on in the dashboard. Car stopped ok and was not involved in an accident. The car started to making a beeping sound. When he arrived home we checked it with a scanner, cleared the codes. A day later the same issue with the lights come back on. I called vw and my local dealer and although there is a bulletin for the abs for my year Jetta, they said my car was not part of it.

13 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

I was on snow and braked hard to turn into my driveway, as I was sliding a bit. I heard a pop and the skid, brake and abs lights came on with a dinging alarm. My brakes still seemed to work. I took my car to have it checked and was told by my mechanic that the abs module was bad according to his scanner. It was below freezing at the time, so my mechanic told me to wait for the weather to warm up, and hopefully something was just frozen. He said that it indicated a ground wire was a problem to the abs module and maybe it was just a matter of fixing that, or the module was bad. I looked up that the 2009 Jettas had a problem and recall on the abs modules. I took it to the dealer, who updated software, but said mine didn't qualify for replacement under the recall. I don't understand how, if my module is bad and a ground wire is involved how the recall is not valid.

14 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/24/2018

The abs module failed. Dealer said there was no recall for my car, but I see that there was in fact a recall of 2009jettas for this exact issue. My repair was 1413. 48 on 9/11/18. The vehicle was fine, inspected 8/10/18, one month later my 16 year old was driving to school and the abs light came on, the brake light was flashing, and there was a constant beeping alarm while driving.

15 Brake Light On problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/13/2018

Abs recall: when the vehicle was started I noticed the abs indicator light was illuminated. Also, the brake light was blinking and a beeping tone was audible. Otherwise, the vehicle was driving fine. Next the steering wheel indicator, epc indicator, and check engine light was illuminated. Now, the vehicle is a bit difficult to steer and the speedometer is not working. There is an abs recall for vehicles of the same year, make and model, but unfortunately, my vehicle VIN is not included in that recall. I cannot get a clear understanding from vw as to why my vehicle is not covered by the recall.

16 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/23/2018

My abs light came on and then my red brake light came on, a few days later my epc light came on. About a week after that that my speedometer stopped working and I noticed that the mileage had stopped counting. I took it to napleton's Volkswagen service department in orlando and (short version) received a quote to do the work of over $1700 to fix the abs before they could even tell me if there was a problem with the abs as they could not upload the software for the recall. . The problem was directly related to the abs module. . Which in my paperwork is described in the recall information. I have told them not to fix my car as I believe this is incorrect (most of the work they quoted I believe is incorrect) and will be taking it to a mechanic I trust. It also opens the door for fraud as if I allowed them to do the work and then "fix" the recall that would seem like they would be charging me and Volkswagen for the work. They also are charging me for diagnostic on the abs but per their own words they haven't been able to do the diagnostic. My car actually runs fine, however without the speedometer and having the brake lights on it feels very unsafe. The problem started 2 weeks ago July 23, 2018 and I brought it to service dealer yesterday.

20 Brake Light On problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

Suddenly one day I saw abs brake light is on , I took the car to authorized Volkswagen dealer , and they told that abs needs to be replaced and the cost is around $3000. I searched in internet and saw vw is replacing some defective abs module , I contacted to vw, USA and they refused to do so as my VIN is not the candidate for recall but I see in internet my model and make and year is the candidate for recall . 23 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/25/2017

Participated in Volkswagen recall involving the abs and esp warning lights and system failure. My vehicle passed the 'software' test in March of 2017, in may of 2017 I had replaced the brake pads, rotors and one caliper, approximately 2,000 miles later all of the abs, esp and brake warning lights can on. I took the car into the repair shop, they told me that they would not re-run the software update, the abs could fail and they would need to replace the abs module for a cost of $1,700. The error code I was given at the dealership is 16352 014, which indicates an electrical failure in the unit, my understanding is that this failure is part of the recall?.

24 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 04/12/2017

Abs, esp, and brake light all activated at 93000 miles. Took vehicle in for recall service and was denied.

25 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/06/2017

My 2009 Jetta has been experiencing issues. The abs light, stability control light, brake light, and check engine light stay on. The car sputters from time to time. I took it to the dealer in my town for the Volkswagen recall on the abs system. They supposedly fixed the abs software and module. Then they tell me the abs pump is bad but not covered under warranty. It will be $3000 to replace! they replaced the mass air intake, a $442. 00 repair and the car is still missing. Check engine lights still on. Now epc light is on. Also, all of my abs lights, check engine, stability control, and brake lights are still on. How do I know the dealer actually did the abs repair? also, why is the abs pump not part of the recall? it's difficult to believe that the software caused the abs module to fail, but had nothing to do with the pump. This car seems to be a lemon. Are there any plans to address the abs pump issue?.

30 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 11/02/2016

My wife was driving her 2009 vw Jetta and the abs, traction control and brake light comes on the dashboard the other day with a beeping sound also. First let me say this car just turned 65,000 miles. I have owned many vehicles in my lifetime and this is unacceptable for a major safety device to fail as this did so early in the life of this car. I have read many other complaints that the abs control module fails and consumers have lost steering. This part is $1550. 00 and another $375. 00 to install, total of $1925. 00. You can only buy this part new at the vw dealer ( just called). I can't believe this has not been recalled by now. Please someone look into this problem. I don't want my wife driving this car, it is not safe with no abs working and possible loss of steering. Also don't know if this is connected to the abs problem but the rear brakes are used up way to soon. Brake dust all over the rear wheels. I'm a car guy and work on cars, this is not right. . Thank you. .

31 Brake Light On problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.

32 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 06/24/2016

Jetta's abs light and traction lights came on. Speedometer will sputter and car dashboard will have a beeping sound with the brake light on as well as the abs light. Can will still drive normally but the warning lights and beeping sound will appear every few minutes. Took it to the dealer and was told my abs module needs to be replaced and the repair will cost $2400. Searched online and other Jetta owners seem to have this same problem.

33 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Abs, traction control, and brake light warnings all flashing. Abs control module faulty and needed to be replaced.

34 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/13/2016

I had scary moments while I was driving my vw Jetta last Friday may 13, 2016. Suddenly the vehicle started acting up. The lights on the dashboard that comes on for warning started blinking included engine, brake lights are constantly flashing, steering, abs, and e. T. C. (electronic throttle control) + bold red line flashing across drive gears display all in one!!!!!! which is not makes any sense. ¿¿. Had to maneuver over to the side of the road, lucky we didn't get in an accident!!!! what actually happens when it comes on it is hard to steer, acceleration goes slow, beeping hearing test noise frequents, gas gauge goes to e, and speedometer goes all the way to the end. This happens frequently and doesn't matter what road or highway I'm in, which makes it more dangerous when it¿s hard to steel and the brake lights are constantly flashing and when I steer the vehicle goes back not forward. I towed my vehicle to a local vw dealership and it was determined that the abs module failed and caused the problems. The cost to replace abs module is $2350 ($1650 abs module +$700 labor). This is obviously a manufacturing defect which can cause an immediate harmful affect if I was on a highway or not being careful I could have easily been in a life threatening accident I don't think it's fair that consumers should absorb the cost of this type of repair I think vw should send a recall immediately. Vw knows about this problem and they replaced the abs part # 1k0 614 517 bef with new part # 1k0 614 517 bk bef ( I request the old parts from the dealer) -attached my video that I recorded at the time that I had this incident. 35 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

Randomly, most of the vehicle warning lights, check engine or malfunction indicator light, brake system, abs, traction control or esp, airbag fault, appear while I am using a brake for red light and driving on any kinds of roads. Then I feel the wheel as heavier than usual, the past (cannot turn smoothly like before). I just purchased the used vehicle on December 16, 2015. The cardealer, autonation, sold the car by advertising that's well maintenanced and all checked. However, within6 months after the purchase, those vehicle warning lights came up on the display. Autonation suggested me to go to wollswagen dealer. The mechanic at the local Volkswagen dealer gave me an estimates for the repair around 2,000 usd saying that abs system is not working and needs to be replaced by a new one. I asked a help to autonation, but the dealer said that's why Volkswagen car is known as a risky choise. The dealer appolozied me saying that he cannot help me. Is there any way to return the car to autonation or to get my car repaired by autonation?.
