1 Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/19/2020

Recently purchased a 2019 vw Jetta and having the same issues that many of the other owners are experiencing. Under low acceleration it stalls and makes a grinding, whirring sound below 20-30 mph. It makes me timid to drive it because it has almost caused people to rear end me due to the stall. It falls on its face when you need it to move. I'm concerned as the noise has gotten louder the last few months. I have not taken it to the dealership yet, but now upon reading all of the concerns, it seems to be a waste of time to take it to the dealer.

2 Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/06/2019

When vehicle reaches 30-40mph, there is a loud rattle sound on the driver side of the vehicle. Sounds as if pipes are loose under the hood or under the car. The rattle sound happens during acceleration randomly at any speed. The sound is reduced when in sport mode and does not make rattle from 0 to 30-40mph, but does make the rattle sound during acceleration. During my research I've noticed there are a ton of my same model vehicle that are having the same issue. I took the car to the dealer two weeks after my purchase to have if checked out, the mechanic brushed me off and said it was normal. My brand new car should not should like pipes are loose and rattle during acceleration. Its really embarrassing and I hope this does not cause a safety issue in the future.

3 Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/26/2019

All sensors including airbag and abs reported errors. Vw representative over the phone said it does not sound safe to drive. Dealership claimed no issues found with the vehicle. Rattling sound which is persistent after vw installed a software update for a known issue with the transmission shifting gears. While the engine running and changed from park to reverse, the car rolled forward and transmission would not respond to attempting to accelerate. Vehicle rolled into a pole which stopped it from moving forward while in reverse. All photo and video documented. Volkswagen claims this proof does not matter because there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. There is also a residue from manufacturing on the windshield which they have attempted multiple times to remove, and the issue is still persistent. They refuse to replace the windshield or admit the problem is from manufacturing. Multiple trips to have the vehicle serviced and continued to be told nothing is wrong and my documented proof does not matter.

5 Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds problem of the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/13/2013

A rattling sound began to come from the engine compartment shortly after passing 85,000 miles on the vehicle. Scanned the computer and found several codes for misfires and vacuum leaks on the vehicle ecu. Took it to a shop after performing routine maintenance did nothing to smooth out engine operation. Shop shortly contacted me back with a quote of the timing chains were coming apart and the engine was severely out of time. After some research online this appears to be an issue with the early 2. 5l mk5 Jetta engine.

7 Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

I first took my car to the dealership June 1st for an obvious rattling noise in between my front tires. On June 15th back to the dealership for them to replace my bushings but problem still existed so they ordered pins for caliper bracket. In July after replacing struts the problem still existed. Aug 31st they replaced the sway bar and declared the problem was resolved. When I got in my car the problem still existed and they had left my car out of alignment it was almost impossible to drive. Sept 14th I returned back to the dealership for the same problem. They replaced both sway bars. The problem was finally resolved after losing my car for 6 full days, however my brake lights were on. They assured me it was just a coincidence, the service guy discovered the tech had forgotten to connect my brakes back. I did not file a formal complaint at this time because I was so relieved they had finally fixed my suspension issue. Ive had to buy 2 brand new sets of tires since June because of all the ware on my tires from my messed up suspension. Today, Jan 3rd 2012 my car is back in the shop yet again. This time for a rear passanger side door lock that had been set on child lock will no longer lock. Ordered the part, since my car is no longer under warranty the part with labor 360. In the meantine the tech discovered an oil leak. The dealership is now saying my vaccum pump is leaking and is no longer under warranty for them to fix it. Their quote 960. I checked on the part its 257 new. Even though I didn't file a complaint or cost them money when they forgot to connect my brakes bake they are going to charge me 700 dollars in labor. My car is only a 2008 and has been in the shop more in one year than any of my other cars combined. It is daily a safety hazard because of the lingering of fixing my car right the very first day I took it to the dealership June of 2010.

8 Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds problem of the 2003 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/03/2010

After taking my 2003 vw Jetta 1. 8l turbo to the vw dealership for a broken dipstick and ignition recall, I was told there was sludge in the engine in which the car had under 68,000 miles. The dealership stated it was not under the manufactures warranty and would cost at least $900 to clean out the engine. Upon deciding to take it to a mechanic for a 2nd opinion, the car seized up and ceased to work while driving. The mechanic informed me that the entire engine was blown from the sludge build up when oil changes had been performed at 3,000 mile intervals though the manufactures owners manual stated it only had to be changed every 5,000 miles. The dealership stated there was nothing they could do about it other than for me to purchase a new engine or a rebuilt engine. After having a used engine installed from a salvage yard, I discovered from the car pouring smoke and making a high pitched whining noise. Apparently when the original engine went it also damaged the turbo as a result of sludge build up. I've further discovered after doing some research that this is a common problem to vw cars with 1. 8 liter turbo engines from models following 2000. Unfortunately because the turbo is considered an accessory to the engine, the turbo was not covered under the salvage yards engine warranty I just had installed and would require the turbo being replaced as well. The vw dealership informed me that a rebuilt turbo would cost $1700 alone not including small parts and labor after I had already spent $2800 on a used 1. 8l turbo engine and small parts and labor. The used engine had 46,000 miles on it so it is highly likely that it will also go due to engine sludge.

Failure Date: 05/01/2005

2006 Volkswagen Jetta, engine makes a very loud rattling noise for the first minute everytime the car is cold and at first startup in the morning. . . Every single day , after reporting the problem to my dealer I was told that this noise is on all 2006 Jetta's and the manufacturer is working on solving the problem, I first reported the problem last may 2005 when I first bought the car and I have since made 2 official complaints directly with the manufacturer and with the dealer. Consumer concerned with engine and wheel bearing issues. Wants to know who is going to reimburse for repairs. Oxygen sensor had to be replaced several times. The driver side inner door handle was difficult to operate. The left side axle shaft was replaced because it was making a whining noise. While driving the vehicle stalled. It was later determined that a small rodent had built a nest which clogged the air box. The vehicle stalled again and this time they replace the maf sensor. The cruise control was inoperative.

13 Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/16/1997

I had both the passenger side window and the driver side window fall into the door frame within a matter of months. Both times the windows were fixed, however, they were reluctant to fix the problem as if it had been my fault. I have a small child and I don't think he appreciates asphyxiation from so much wind in his face on the long drives to the dealer to be replaced. This is just one of the problems on this car, the clutch gets stuck (repaired twice), the sunroof trim broke off and needed to be replaced, the engine makes a rattling noise when shifting (fixed twice), stereo system swallowed my cd (twice before new system installed), and air conditioning releases an awful moldy smell when turned on which dealer refuses to attempt to fix. Bought car in valencia Volkswagen in valencia, CA. Solution simple, traded in my 1yr old car for a better car, one that works!.
