Driving on the freeway at 65mph sudden loud noise and vehicle abruptly slowed to 30mph. Dealership determined there were excessive metal particles in oil pan. We had to replace the engine block. This car is a 2017 with 66,748 miles. We replaced the engine with a used one and paid $5306. 33.

Car would not start suddenly. . . Vw dealership said engine needs to be replaced. There was no indication anything was wrong with the vehicle. It was driving normally, no abnormal noises, no check engine or other warning lights. Luckily, we found out engine had failed when trying to start a parked vehicle. It may have been an unsafe situation had the engine failed while driving.

The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle accelerated forward in a jerking motion without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be serviced per a recall related to the failure; however, the failure recurred. Also, a howling sound emitted from the engine and the oil and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the failure was not diagnosed. In addition, the contact stated that the headlights became inoperable intermittently without warning. The contact also mentioned that the front driver seat independently readjusted and the steering wheel shook violently when the vehicle was driven. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the purge valve and the steering rack failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 66,000.

I purchased my car 1 year ago has approximately 27k on it now bought it with 1000 miles on it after a month after purchasing my vehicle I started in some wobbling rumbling noises coming from the left front of my car I took up a drive with the technician the technician heard the sound they had my car for four days didn't even give me a loaner and I missed school because so. After 4 days they came up with no conclusion he told me to bring it back when it gets worse I brought my car back several times and after everything look for the fifth time they told me that my tires are feathering I was wondering why they tell me that now I'm not after the first two times. I then took it to the tire dealership and several other second party dealerships when they told me my tires are fine along with one of the Volkswagen dealerships. I am now having performance issues with my excelerator hesitated it seems like it's gurgling and seeming to have troubles accelerating now. My miles per gallon has dropped from 42 to 38. I am here in a whoooing noise when I'm returning the wheel all the way right and reversing and it's coming from the left side left front side where the original noise was, vw told me it's normal. I'm also hearing the same issues must like everybody else's with this car with accelerating I'm hearing weird cranking noise through the ac vent which is a normal at high rpm's. Just recently I had a put my foot all the way down to the four with my brakes to stop the car and I don't know why. I'm also hearing the same issues like everybody else with my windows it's really not loud and noisy after about 50 mph. The dealership is yet to come up with clear answer to my issues they just told me to buy tires and they weren't even sure if the new tires would fix the issue or not. They also tell me I won't be covered in the future if something happens. Vw needs to be investigate.

This vehicle is a 2006 turbo diesel vw Jetta. I was driving on the highway when engine failed, no warning lights. Experienced loss of power, rough idling, valve train noise and transmission noise. Had vehicle towed to certified mechanic. Mechanic found complete loss of compression on one piston and scored lifters. Also dual mass flywheel was making loud noise and needs to be replaced. Volkswagen dealership quoted est 1800 dollars for parts and labor for flywheel and certified mechanic recommends rebuilt engine for appx 5000 dollars plus labor to install. Estimate will be complete next week. Total will est around 9 to 10,000 dollars for towing, inspecting vehicle to find issues, parts and labor. Spoke with Volkswagen of America consumer advocate who offered us $750 off a new vw. This vehicle has been well cared for with appropriate oil changes using vw approved oil. Most of the mileage was obtained as highway miles.
Shortly after I bought car I noticed a noise coming from (sounded like) engine. I also noticed car not changing gears smoothly. Felt as if it was having a hard time shifting especially up hill, I took the car in and was told this is just how a vw shifts and sounds. I told them I did not notice it when I initially owned the car. They ran a diagnostic since now the engine light is on the windshield wipers come on at their own will, the clock looses time constantly, and the noise has got a lot worse and so has the gear shifting. The diagnostic they say showed the dual fans are both burned out. If they are burned out why are they still making a loud noise several seconds after I turn the car off? they have also told me no transmission problem exists but another dealer told me they cannot know that because the diagnostic will not pick up on a bad transmission only a totally failed one. Which the car will be out of warranty then. These cars have obvious transmission problems and electronic problems that are being ignored. After having all this problem I looked on internet and was astonished at the number of people with all the same problems as me. Slow and hard shifts, wipers, car acting as if it is stalling, clock losing time, battery going bad too quick. Brakes constantly bad. This car is just a lemon. Why will the government not do a total recall. There is tooooooo much wrong with tooooo many of them.
We have been experiencing an issue with our 2005 Jetta since purchase. Whenever we start the car from cold we experience a very loud noise that lasts for about 20 seconds. We have taken the car in to the dealer 3 times and the dealer stated that this was not a normal sound. Unfortunately at first they said this was normal. Only now are they admitting this is not normal for a new car. They have been unable to determine the problem after 3 attempts and Volkswagen are stating this is a normal issue. The dealer did replace the catalytic converter which did not do anything to help.
A few days after we purchased our new 2005 Jetta we noticed that after the car had been sitting for 6 hours or more we were hearing a very loud noise at start up. This happens every time we start the car from cold, becoming more loud the colder it is - the noise is very loud and most certainly not normal for a brand new car. It appears the noise is coming from the engine area. We have taken the car into the dealer and after looking at it, they said that this was normal and really did not explain as to what is making the noise. They did state that other Jetta's made the same noise. Again, I find this very concerning for a new car.
While the vehicle was turned on or off a loud noise was heard. Vehicle was taken to the dealer four times, and mechanic could not duplicate the problem.
