1 Power Assist Brake Vacuum problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/27/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving various speeds and depressing the brake pedal to come to a complete stop, the vehicle failed to stop. The emergency brake was used in order to stop the vehicle and the "check the vehicle" warning message illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vacuum gauge line failed due to not building sufficient pressure to brake. The vacuum gauge line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was later taken to fairfax Volkswagen (11505 fairfax blvd, fairfax, va 22030, (703) 359-4500), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened case number: 180105636. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000.

2 Power Assist Brake Vacuum problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/06/2007

Brake booster is failing after use in traffic. The brake pedal slowly sinks and when lightly tapped, it slams to the floor. When this happens, a loud suction can be heard inside the car, and the brakes are applied fully. This usually happens after brakes are used some time, say in a traffic jam. There is a site, tdiclub. Com, which has forums where many people talk about this problem on their 2002 model year vw Jetta. The danger is that the brakes come on fully, which startles not only the driver and passenger(s), but the vehicles that are following. This is an intermittent problem (brake booster failure) but can be replicated if the brakes are used heavily. When the problem starts to happen, it will continue until the brakes are not used for quite some time. Once this started happening today, virtually every other application of the brakes caused the symptoms above. This occurred about seven times this day. This has been happening intermittently for a few years.

3 Power Assist Brake Vacuum problem of the 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/01/2004

I was driving on I-87 north in the bronx in stop and go rolling traffic and I smelled something after a while, also felt a little bit of dragging. The speed picked up and when I needed the brakes the pedal was mushy and went down almost all the way barely stopping me! I stopped and saw that the brakes were super hot, so I opened the hood to check out the lines. A guy pulled over and helped me check to see if I had to bleed the lines at the abs controller and we saw no excess pressure. I had the brake switch replaced under recall, and greased the cylinder that feeds the brake booster, but still it grabs sometimes and I have to pull the pedal up. . Read more...
