The drivers side window started making a whistling noise and when I tried to roll the window up it dropped down into the door and broke. I was on the freeway and I jumped when it happened. This is a hazard and needs to be recalled.

Vehicle had difficulty shifting out of park. Dealership said it had to do with a brake switch recall and that the problem was corrected. When vehicle was driven after repair, brakes felt differently, but worked. A week later while driving on the interstate, the brake pedal stuck and would not accelerate over 50mph. The dealership said the master cylinder was bad and will replace it. Other problems include the arm rest breaking three times, window mechanics needed replaced, door leaks, and cover on plastic interior peeling.

Transmission failed. The dealer replaced the part. However, two weeks later the part failed again. The vehicle would not go into reverse. The transmission slipped and the vehicle had run into a pole at a gas station on the right front side. This problem remained the same. The engine light had come on along with the transmission problems. Other problems were: the tire pressure had to be reset on numerous occasions, rear pads, a/c was not cooling, glove box, power windows, console, power sunroof, interior trim, steering/suspension, driveability, trim electrical, sound system, and heating/cooling. The consumer did not report any damage to vehicle when she hit the pole.
While driving the engine began to make a loud noise. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer who found that the motor mounts were broken and caused the engine to fall to the ground. The dealer replaced the engine, engine block, timing belt and the lower shield. Also at 59,000 the manual transmission had to be replaced because the consumer could not shift into reverse.

2001 vw Jetta wolfsburg 40k miles - water leaks into the car from underneath the instrument panel on the passenger side. Dealer stated that it was the drain channel from the sunroof. Week later the problem reoccurred. Dealer stated that they have no idea as to what is causing the problem. They're in process of taking the car apart. Vw customer service is not being helpful at all. I've seen at least two comments on the web about similar problem, but the dealer and the vw customer service claims that they have never seen this problem before. Any advise before my car gets totally disassembled? not to mention water damage to the carpeting. . .

Rattles throughout the interior such as the speakers, dash board, and area where the emergency flashers and center air vents are located. Dents on the vehicle from the service center, I have a friend with a vw that has the same dents on his vehicle located underneath the doors on both sides of the car. Skid plate underneath the vehicle designed to protect the under parts of the engine nearly came off, several bolts missing, needed to duct tape it to make it home. Bolt fell out of door and side blinker leaked water inside which was fixed a while back. Several small annoying problems.

While driving in a parking lot the right front fender liner fell off causing the consumer to run over it, during repair of the fender liner it was noted that both front grills were missing. Nlm.
This car has been a pain in the a-- almost since purchase. The most serious problems have involved what seems to be defective wiring with respect to the electric windows. These have been repaired 3 times since the first incidence cited above,to the tune of $250, the last time being 6 months ago. Now I am told that it needs a new motor assembly to the tune of $650 parts and labor! other assorted door electrical problems. Other problems have been: door moldings falling off (this must be an inherent problem with '98 Jettas, because I've noticed that most of those that I see on the road have missing moldings). Both front tires blew out within 2 weeks of each other after an inappropiately short usage. Much lower gas mileage that originally promised. Most of these problems started well within warranty.
