I bought the car in October 2017 and had to bring it back few days later because the water pump was leaking. They fixed it and couple weeks later I had to replace the heater core couplings because they were leaking. Now in the beginning of December 2017 I was coming back from orlando FL from the dealership because I had to get my title from them, the car broke down completely on the highway. Check engine light and a epc light came on as well. I had to get it towed back to my house and had multiple mechanics stop by and inspect the car but there was nothing they could do because of the tools they didn't have. I even called other mechanic shops that specialize in european cars. I finally had the car towed to the Volkswagen dealership & they gave me a quote that was more than the value of the car. I also gave the dealership a call where I purchased the car from and they told me they would get back to me but never did until I called back with my mother and they said it has no warranty. Then I called the westlake finance company for the car and they told me to go through the dmv. The car is not driveable.

"takata recall" "water pump" I got many recalls on my Jetta gli 2012 . The last recall I got on the mail was on November ,2016 for the airbag control . After I dropped my car for the recall I picked it up same day . I noticed that the airbag light is on for the first time I haven't had any issues like this before . I returned back to the dealer and informed them , they said you have to leave it and we're sorry we didn't take care of that . I didn't have time to leave it there for one more day . Now they're asking me to pay for it around $992 ! I got all of the voicemail from the dealer they called me to apologize for the airbag light and asked me to come back to fix since it came up after I dropped it for the recall . Also , I have showed the quote for the water leaking to many auto care centers in houston . They told me that this kind of car with 2. 0 engine has a problem with the water pump and they will never get involved whit this car because to many people with the same engine and car model had the same problem several times . My car only got 60k mile on it and never been into and accident it's been less than 5 years now since I purchased the car . I paid 28k dollars cash from the first day just because I trusted in vw. I have contacted vw of America , but they didn't help me with my case and asked me to pay for it . .
Engine shuts off while driving. Happened multiple times, had it towed to an auto shop that works w/my used car warrenty, they tested generator and battery and both were good. No recalls on my VIN however, I did see recall# 14e007000 on 2007 Jetta's and it states the engine could shut off due to timing belt from faulty water pump.

The water pump failed at approximately 70 mph. The impeller came off of the shaft inside of the pump because of a poor design(plastic). This caused the vehicle to overheat. Went ahead and had the timing belt done also. Cost of repair was $1131. 87.
Driving along the road and coolant suddenly flushed out of car. Water pump had to be replaced along with timing belt. Oil leaks in multiple places are starting to appear. I wondered why I was going through so much oil. Mechanic alerted me to the the poor design and build and told me to check of open recalls and similar problems.

I was driving home from a short trip(<5 miles) when my car completely stopped going on a busy street. I was unable to move the car out of the way on coming traffic. I heard a loud pop prior to its losing power. I called a tow truck who tried to jump car but the engine would not turn over. I took it to the mechanic who had sold the car to me and I was told that one of the pistons had ruptured the engine block. They had no explanation about why this had happened. The car had been serviced( oil change, valve repair, timing belt replacement, water pump replacement) about 500 miles before.
I bought this car used in 2003 and had problems with it since. Esc light comes on all the time. Replaced ignition coils, mass air flow sensor, oxygen sensor, and spark plugs multiples times to try and fix the check engine light that keeps coming back on. It keeps spitting out random cylinder misfire codes. Passenger side window broke. The arm rest hinge broke. The glove compartment hinge broke. Brake lights need replacing constantly. Water pump broke while driving in the middle of freeway and the temperature gauge shot through the roof. A random tube/hose in the engine broke. Transmission problem, could not shift from park to drive. Interior cabin smells like crayon. Very rough idle, need to warm up the car for at least 5 mins every morning or else the car will stall. I noticed if you do not warm the car long enough, you have to press the brake pedal very hard to get it to stop. I can cope with all the above issues but I cannot tolerate the car randomly stalling/engine dying while driving around the city. Lately the car is making weird noises like it ran over a pothole. I gave away the car and will never again own any cars made from Volkswagen.

The vw Jetta vr6 2001 that I purchased last year for $7,000 (financing through my credit union) is a lemon. I have had it less than a year and already spent $2000 on minor repairs and I estimate that right now it needs about $4000 more in the next few months. I believe that sundance improperly sold this car, knowing that a massive amount of things are wrong with it. I had a garage with which they are affiliated look at it and completely misrepresented the shape of the car. Since acquiring it I have been plagued with difficulties with it, from head lights mysteriously going out, to the water pump failing, to the serpentine coil failing, now to the air compressor failing, as well as the computer to the a/c, and today it is the epc code (which I believe has something to do with either the catalytic converter, or computer - but the thing is losing power and the brake lights don't work which is a major safety hazard), not to mention the transmission slips and will need to be replaced. Having been plagued with these issues, I have come to find out that there are many other vw Jetta vr6 2001 owners who are adamant that this car is a manufactured lemon. Vw needs to be in some way held accountable - all of us have had nightmarish lives and are paying for the defects every day.
Volkswagen Jetta (all vw) have plastic impeller water pump that breaks, causing rapid overheating and possible engine seizure. Engine seizure may result in rear end collision. Volkswagen knows of this problem but refuses to recall the vehicles. New water pump is required to repair the condition. The parts costs over $200. 00. Fairly easy to replace but the plastic parts could also break loose and get pumped through the engine and turbo and cause catastrophic failure.
Our Volkswagen Jetta developed transmission issues just after the warranty period ran out. The transmission jerks at low speeds, when you hit the accelerator. Mechanics have said there is no saying when this will conk out. The water pump also conked out recently. Replacing the tranny is about $6000. Replacing the water pump cost us around $900. I hear dealerships charge a lot more for this service. The Volkswagen Jetta is too expensive a car, for it to have such poor quality. Hope someone can help make them pay for ripping customers off in this way. This outrageous.
