On 1/28 12:30pm, after around 5 minutes after driving outside my garage onto highway wa-202, the windows turn very steamy. In the next 10 minutes, we tried hot, air, and ac. Recycled and not. It just became worse and warm steam comes out of vents and completely blocks seeing into front. And my wife on the passenger side and young daughters from the car seat in the back see steam all around and cannot see through windows either. This damage almost turns into a disaster accident for my entire family on the state high way. My Passat GLS has been carefully maintained and protected in the full gated garage. Never water damage with it. We are genuinely looking forward a fair solution or treatment from vw. Please feel free to contact us for any document you want.

The contact owns a 2008 Volkswagen pssat. The contact stated that both rear doors housed pivoting tabs for a shade to keep the sun out of the vehicle. The contact stated that the design was poorly manufactured because the child occupant in the back seat could pull the tabs up and down and could potentially catch his fingers in the tab. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 23,000. The VIN was not available.

I purchased an 03 vw Passat from a vw dealer as a certified pre-owned vehicle back in 2/07. Within the first week of purchase I had brake problems. The next couple years were followed by valve cover leaks, engine leaks, auto window problems, battery problems, recall issues, water intrusion issues, ignition coil recall and the list goes on. After a water intrusion just days after the replacement of faulty ignition coils I contacted the manufacture notifying them of the problems. The manufacture had held their foot to the ground that my car is out of warranty (that I was told at time of sale I did not have) and so they are able to do nothing about any of the problems with this vehicle. However as it stands I have nearly $3000 in repairs needed to this vehicle. Not to mention the water leak/damage from what I understand may actually mean my vehicle is considered a total loss at this point. I have expressed to the manufacture that I am concerned for the safety of myself but my small children as well ever time we are in this vehicle. Among the several things that are potential to occur while I am driving I also worry about the potential for mold exposure from the water damage. Due to cost I am unable to get any of this corrected and can not afford to go thru my insurance only to be told that it is a manufacture issue and so I am stuck. I feel that at this point I am driving around in a safety hazard and don't know what to do. Every time I receive a replay from anyone I just end up back at the same place. . . . Contact the bbb, etc. I am getting no where and don't know what to do therefore am looking into any and all resources so any information would be useful. Thank you for your time.

Pollen filter and/ or sunroof drains become blocked and water leaks behind battery and into cabin of car. The water then pools under and behind the drivers seat where the convenience module is stored. I am concerned because it caused my car to be unable to start because it is affecting the electrical components of the car. In addition, the pooling under the drivers seat is troubling since it is a hub for interior electrical equipment. The convenience module in my car now has to be replaced.
1999 Volkswagen Passat windows fall down due to defective plastic clips breaking that normally hold them in place. Windows fall down into doors distracting drivers attention from road and potentially causing an accident. Driver security is not assured when door is locked due to this common defect. Vw is aware of this complaint and fixed on some jettas but not Passats. Nor will they make available a replacement plastic clips to correct the problem. If you want this fixed you must buy the entire window regulator rather than the single plastic clips that apparently become brittle with age and fail.

A/c was not cooling as normal then the a/c was not cooling at all. The day the a/c system failed I was driving on the highway at the speed of 70 miles per hour and it was raining heavily. All windows to the vehicle fogged to the point where I had no visibility. I pulled over to the emergency lane. I had to wait for the storm to pass to open my windows and be able to see through all windows. I drove the car home and made an appointment with a vw service shop the next day. The shop checked the a/c system for refrigerant and found that it was contaminated. They vacuum/drained the system, refilled it with new refrigerant, and replaced the temperature sensor for the a/c system. The a/c was working as normal for two months then without warning my a/c system was not cooling at all. I took it back the next day to vw service. They found that the a/c compressor shaft was seized to the compressor housing. To repair it they had to replace the compressor, expansion valve, and condenser. They also cleaned to a/c lines, vacuumed the system and refilled it with refrigerant after putting all the parts together. I was without a vehicle for a week. Till this day my a/c system is not working properly. For example, I drive the car one day, the a/c works and normal, and the next day it does not cool at all. It works at random times. To add, the same time my a/c was broken my air bag warning light came on. Vw checked it and found that the front passenger side igniter had too much resistance. To fix it they removed the front passenger seat and bypassed the front passenger side airbag plug. Then they checked the seat harness and reinstalled the seat. My air bag warning light is on again. Moreover, the sunvisors lights didn't work, shift knob was corroded, the rubber seal to the satellite antenna rotted away, and both tail lights on the interior started to burn and look melted. All was replaced under warranty. Good for that because I couldn't have been able to pay for all the repair costs.

The contact owns a 2007 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs but to no avail. The driver side sun visor light also would not illuminate and the light was replaced by the dealer. In addition, the air conditioning system was repaired several times and most recently failed again. The contact stated the drain had to be cleaned of contaminated solvent and repairs were also made to the temperature system. The manufacturer was not contacted in regards to any of the above failures. The failure mileage was 20,578 and the current mileage was 39,000.
Air conditioning does not work. On foggy and rainy days air conditioning is necessary to obtain a good visibility while driving. Several 2006 and 2007 vw Passat models have this problem.
The headlight lens on my Passat have become "clouded" over time resulting in reduced brightness from the headlamps and creating an unsafe driving condition at night. In discussing the issue with other Passat owners, it's clear that this is a common problem. The reduced brightness has become a true safety hazard over time as visibility at night is severely affected. The lens is actually opaque at this point. Volkswagen denies responsibility as the car is out of warranty.
I am the original owner of a 2001 Volkswagen new Passat. The headlight lenses that came with the car have clouded so much that the headlights barely illuminate the road. This is a dangerous situation and they need to be replaced. I have spoken with other Passat owners from the similar years and they have experienced the same issue. I believe vw should be forced to issue a recall on the headlight lenses, and offer to replace them for free. Who knows how many accidents have occurred because the owners of these vehicles are not seeing the road well at night. The date below reflects when I first noticed the clouding in the lenses.
