The dash is prematurly cracking causing pieces to become potential projectiles if involved in an accident and the airbag deploys. The cracks may possibly also cause the airbag to not properly deploy. Also the powersteering pump is leaking fluid severely. There was a recall issued for every 2007 and 2008 Tl, but specifically excluded the type s which is now showing the same symptoms and possible fire risk due to the leaks. The car also has premature wear on the motor mounts and now beeds motor mounts replaced.

Dashboard developed a large crack that aligns with the left side of the passenger airbag compartment while parked. Concerned with the integrity of the dash and safety of the airbag system. The crack allows moisture into the airbag module which can create the risk of a faulty airbag deployment or failing to deploy which can lead to severe injury or death. My passengers regularly include my husband and young son that sits behind passenger seat. . Read more...
Prolonged high temperatures and/ or high humidity cause the dashboard to crack along the right side of the passenger side airbag. In a matter of days, the crack spreads all over the airbag area and dashboard. The material defect effects Acura Tls and Tl types from 2004-2008. Cracks in the dashboard can result in pieces of the dashboard being projected into the eyes and face of passengers once the passenger airbag deploys. The cracks allow moisture into the airbag module which can create the risk of a faulty airbag deployment or failing to deploy which can lead to sever injury or death. Acura vehicles with as few as 60k miles up to 160k are affected by this problem. Acura is well aware of this issue and refuse to assist consumers with the replacement of the defective dashboard. There is a facebook forum (https://www. Facebook. . Read more...

Takata recall? 2004 Acura Tl dashboard started cracking 2 months ago and is getting worse. Now, it has cracks that show the outline of airbags on passenger and driver side of dash. This may cause issues with airbags deployment. I looked on line and found that this is a very common problem in the 2004 Acura Tl. This 2004 Acura Tl has approx 95000 miles, was purchased new and has been garaged since purchase. This vehicle has no airbag deployment or accident history. Airbag light sensor now comes on randomly . We are afraid the airbags will not deploy if in an accident or deploy at random. If this is not a safety issue I do not know what would constitute one and it seems Acura refuses to address or fix the problem.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v061000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

Original owner of vehicle, never wrecked or in any type of accident, reporting the dashboard is visibly cracked on July of 2016 directly on top of the passenger airbag causing a safety issue that could cause premature deployment or possibly failed or no deployment when necessary. This may cause injury or even death if the airbag does not deploy properly.
Takata recall problem. . . Passenger side of car on dashboard-outline of airbag appeared, break in leather on dashboard. No car accident occurred. Airbag has not deployed as of yet. Noticed crack on dashboard week of 5/15/2016.
The contact owned a 2003 Acura Tl. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle encountered a pot hole causing the vehicle to jerk violently. As a result, the vehicle veered off the road and flipped over. The air bags did not deploy. The contact's left shoulder strap seat belt was detached from the vehicle leaving behind only the waist strap seat belt as the contact shifted from the driver's seat to the passengers seat during the accident. Furthermore, the contact's head was partially hanging out of the window after the accident. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact sustained a fractured wrist, chest pains, multiple lacerations and a concussion. In addition, the contact's stomach was severely twisted out of shape and the contact vomited and fainted numerous occasions after the accident. The contact required medical attention. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,000. The VIN was not available.
Air bag light sensor is on and all the dash is cracked and we are afraid the air bag will not deploy in a accident or randomly will deploy without a accident.
I've complained about this for a few months now, this has been worded the best: the dash board in my vehicle began to crack over the passenger side air bag and it has me concerned that the air bag may not deploy towards the passenger and may deploy upwards toward the windshield instead and not protect the passenger. This is a known problem with these model cars and Acura refuses to fix this defect. Does someone have to lose their life due to this defect before Acura acknowledges there is a defect and a problem?.

The passenger side dashboard started with a hairline crack and gradually grew larger and cracks formed in many other areas on my dashboard. This ultimately affected my airbag causing the light to on my console to turn on when a passenger is seated. The passenger airbag indicator light on my driver console represents there is a problem with that airbag and will not deploy upon impact. This is extremely dangerous.
The dashboard has cracked on several places, including one large crack over the passanger's airbag. I'm concerned that airbags will deploy unexpectedly as a result or that airbags will not deploy correctly.
My leather dashboard on the inside of my car has about 3 crack lines. The cracks also run on top of the area where the airbag pops out. This is a major safety concern for me along with many other people that have the same problem. I have never seen this condition on any car, and would expect not to see it on such a high end vehicle like my Acura Tl. The dashboard should not be cracking at all. This should be an automatic recall item, especially because of the safety concerns. Please address this promptly. It is a shame that the dealerships say that this is natural wear and tear. If there is a airbag underneath it, the item should be recalled. Looking at older complaints on same issue , Acura where helping but my car is 10 years old and they don't help, this just happened which I think they should still support, the airbags may or may not deploy . . Is this a safety issues, Acura charge $1800 to replace but at our cost the dealership want me to pay $700 and they will take the rest as they are aware of this issue. I don't think I should pay.

The dash has developed a crack around the passenger side airbag. I am concerned that should an accident occur the airbag may not deploy correctly.
Cracks have developed in dashboard of 2005 Acura Tl. Located along edge of passenger side airbag (outlining right side of airbag) and above steering column. Concerned that passenger airbag will not deploy, or will cause personal injury in the event it does deploy. Garage kept, apx 98k miles when first crack appeared.

Vehicle totaled after colliding with guardrail airbags failed to deploy.
Rear ended a vehicle going 50mph, driver airbag did not deploy. Passenger airbag deployed.
My 2004 Acura Tl started to have minor cracks on the dashboard last November and then it slowly spread all over the dashboard. I now have multiple long cracks on my dashboard. I have done some research online and there are many Acura Tl (2004 & 2005 model) owners who has encountered the same issue as well. I have other vehicles that are older than the Acura Tl and those vehicles dashboards are completely fine. I believe it is a defect in the material and Acura should be responsible for replacing this part. I do not feel safe driving my care in this manner due to the fact that it might impact the air bags or may not deploy the air bags in case of emergency. So, please help all of us Acura Tl owners with this issue. Thank you.
I rear ended someone while driving on a busy southern California freeway. The car in front of me had slowed down after noticing that the person in front of her had slammed on her brakes. I was travelling at least 40 mph and did not notice the car in front had slowed down/stopped and I rear-ended her. Her car had a lot of rear bumper damage. My car sustained the brunt of the force and was damaged in the front. No one was hurt, but my husband was in the passenger seat, while my 2 year old was in his car seat in the back. My airbags did not deploy, despite the fact that it was a frontal collision with extensive damage to the front. This accident, thankfully, was not fatal, however could easily have been. This happened on a very busy freeway with cars travelling at least 65 mph. It also happened almost immediately after a slight turn in the freeway, making it difficult for cars to notice an accident in time to stop. My car could have easily been hit from behind almost immediately after the collision. I don't feel safe driving it anymore (even after it's fixed) because I view that car as a loaded gun and I'm playing russian roulette. It's my primary mode of transportation and we use this car for any travelling we do. My son is mostly in my car (school, etc. ). I wanted to report this so that this does not happen to others and, god forbid, be fatal. Please investigate these incidences so no unnecessary consequences occur as a result of faulty airbags.
Over a 24 hour period the a crack running the full width of the dash appeared immediately above the passenger side air bag. This has caused the airbag light to begin going on and off while driving. I do not know if the airbag is functioning properly. In the event of an accident it may mean that the airbag will not deploy or deploy correctly, or it may mean that the airbag deploys when it should not. It will also mean that shards of plastic from the dash will fly around the cabin causing additional and unnecessary injury to occupants. I will no longer allow passengers in my car for fear of the injury this may cause them. This is a well-known and well-documented problem with the 2005 Tl. Acura corrected the problem with subsequent models and has replaced the dash for many of those who complained, labeling it "goodwill", but they have not elected to correct the problem on all and do not deal with it consistently. Please have Acura issue a recall before someone is seriously hurt or killed because of this.

The manufacturer was contacted and told the contact that a case would be opened. The failure and current mileage was 147,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Acura Tl. The contact stated that there was a crack on the dashboard where the passenger side air bag was located. The contact expressed concern that the air bag would not deploy in the event of a crash. In addition, the air bag warning light illuminated. The dealer advised the contact not to be alarmed and that the air bag would deploy in the event of a crash. The manufacturer was aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. No repairs were performed. The approximate failure mileages were 85,000 and the current mileages were 102,000. The VIN was unavailable.
2004 Acura Tl dashboard has horrible cracks on the passenger side around the airbags. There are smaller cracks around the speedometer panel near the windshield. The large passenger side cracks could cause the airbag to not properly deploy. This is not an isolated issue. Over three hundred Acura Tl owners have joined a facebook group regarding this issue but the number of effected owners is probably in the thousands. . Read more...
Cracks developed on dash board. Small at first but have grown over the past 2 years. I thought it was just a cosmetic problem but have read recently that this could be a safety issue with the airbags not deploying. Acura refuses to fix or remedy the problem even though I have provided appropriate care and maintenance over the years.
I'd like to bring to your attention an important public safety issue with Acura. Their airbags have the potential to deploy spontaneously. This has happened yesterday to me 2/15/2010. I was driving on route 83 in baltimore at around 6am and without any impact or warning, my front and rear driver's side as well as the driver's seat airbags deployed in my 2005 Acura Tl. I thought someone was shooting or my tire blew out. I immediately got out of the car and checked the car and found nothing wrong, except the air bag damage. It damaged my driver?s seat and interior roof in the front and back. The steering wheel air bag did not deploy, nor did the air bags inflate. The car was drivable, but the seat belt was broken. After settling at work, I place a call to my insurance company and to norris Acura (ellicott city, MD) where I have my auto service done. The insurance company asked me to contact Acura because there may be a manufacturer's defect. Acura asked me to bring my car in the next day. They evaluated the car and asked me to contact my insurance company even though there's no physical damage to the car. They insist that I must have hit a pot hole, ice or something. I hit nothing. If that was the case and I hit something, the air bag should have deployed and inflated. They never inflated, they just deployed. The air bag in the steering also never deployed. So if they say that I must have hit something, then the airbags are still defective and would not have protected me in an impact. My car is currently at the dealership now with 3 deployed airbags (driver's side) without any physical damage to the car. I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to have to pay a deductible with my insurance company, if this is a manufacturer's defect.
The contact owns a 2004 Acura Tl. The contact stated that he noticed that the instrument panel developed cracks around the passenger side air bag area. The contact was concerned that the air bag would not deploy in the event of a crash. In addition, he was also concerned that if the air bag were to deploy independently, shards of the dashboard would potentially injure him or a passenger. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnosis or repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 102,000 and the current mileage was 122,000.
