I am the original owner of a 2005 Acura Tl with 49,650 miles on it. What started as a hair line crack on the passenger side dashboard is now a series of spider web wall of cracks all throughout the dashboard, in the past few months. As of late, the cracks have extended to the passenger side airbag area. And now the passenger side airbag light intermentinly blinks on /off both with and without a passenger occupying the seat. This is not an of wear and tear parts issue but a defective material issue by Acura. Furthermore, it is now a safety issue whether the cracked dashboard will play in the malfunctioning in the deployment of the passenger side airbag. I am in fear of getting behind the wheel of my Acura Tl now that airbag light intermittently switches on/off at random since the appearance of the cracks on the dashboard.

Air bag light is on and air bag is deactivated due to defective switch in seat belt buckle. Manufacturer has lifetime seat belt warranty but will not honor the warranty because they claim that the switch is part of the air bag system and not part of the seat belt. So my wife and daughter has to drive a car with no air bags because Honda/Acura will not honor their warranty. Should be a recall on this, as it is a common problem.

Takata recall. After taking my car in to the Acura of orange park FL to have airbag system checked related to the recall the repair was made and a week later the indicator light came on again. I called the dealership to advise and was told to bring it back which I did and was told the recall repair was made. However, the switch is faulty and needed to be replaced for a cost. I then called the corporate office and was told to return it at which time I was told that isn't covered in the recall. Now I don't know if the airbag system indicator is accurate or not because the light comes on and off daily as I drive.

I own a 2008 Acura Tl type-s and the dashboard on the passenger car it completely cracked. It has only been serviced at Acura dealerships and I take extremely care of the car. I always use a sunshade and the official Acura Tl's car cover to protect it from the sun. I notice the initial cracking on April 25th, and it was about 6-inches long right on the passenger's airbag. At the time the car had less than 79,000 miles. I made a complaint to the dealership about the evident defective part. It took them a month to get back to me with a negative answer. According to them, it will not affect airbag deployment and the only solution is for me to pay $1,600. 00 for the replacement. However, no checks or studies were done to the car to determine this. I did my research online, and this happens to hundreds of Acura Tls. Therefore, it is obvious that this are defective parts. I do not think that anyone paying for a product should have to pay thousands of dollars a few years later, due to lack of quality of that "premium" product. I would think that after gm¿s recent lawsuit regarding a small ignition switch, which has caused death to several people, Acura would take more responsibility about their cracked dashboards along the airbags.
