The dashboard has developed cracks in the area around the passenger-side airbag. Does this constitute a potential safety issue affecting the airbag deploying properly or possibly shards from the dashboard causing additional injury? there has not been an accident but am concerned if a collision does happen in the future.

While I was driving threw the city streets with were a little rocky suddenly out of no where the diver side air bags pop out leaving me confuse without hearing while I was driving and a headache.

2005 Acura Tl, very well maintained. Jun 2019, a crack appeared in dashboard on the right side of the passenger side airbag. Airbag dashboard light came on 3 months later and stays on. Dealer said they had never seen that before, but now I know this is a known problem. Love the car, but feel Acura needs to resolve this defect. The risk of air bag deployment is serious.

The dashboard cracked right above the passenger side airbag requiring the dashboard to need replacing. Acura won't cover the expense despite the fact this is a safety hazard and very dangerous.

The area around my passenger side airbag on the dash is completely cracked and damaged. I'm concerned that the airbag is damaged under neath and will not deploy during a accident. These cracks just appeared one day while the vehicle was parked and a few days later more cracks. Acura should truly consider recalling these vehicles before someone dies due to there negligence. This is my 2nd request. I am aware of other Acura owners with the same issue.

I had the recall done on the takata steering wheel airbag, then in Jan 2019 I got a airbag warning 31-1 airbag system. Acura reset the warning , but 3 month later it happen again and now I need to replace the driverside airbag curtain. This is not covered anymore, but I would think Acura would help there long term customers.

I was parked in an automatic carwash when my driver side airbag started dripping water on me. I'm afraid this could cause my airbag to deploy. I've also experienced crazy electrical issues intermittently that are not safe and I wonder if this is related. I also have a video if that is needed.

Simply driving down the highway when the passenger seat side airbag deployed. Car has not been in an accident and did not hit a pothole. Research online finds this to be a common problem, but Acura does not appear to be concerned. Airbag explosion alone was loud enough to almost cause an accident due to the scare.

The dashboard in our Acura suddenly had a crack in it from front to back on one side of the passenger side airbag, then a few days later the same size of crack appeared on the other side of the passenger side airbag. This car only has a bit over 40,000 miles on it even though it is a 2005 and has always been garaged and well cared for. We are concerned because the cracks are on each side of the airbag, because they appeared so suddenly, and because this brand is part of the taketa airbag recall although this model year was not recalled. We feel this is a safety issue, especially after by sheer accident we discovered that there are many complaints about this same issue in this brand and model and year of this car. Another thing which concerns us is that this car was purchased and has always "lived" in FL. We are the original owners. The cracks appeared when the car was stationary.

Dashboard right above passenger side airbag is cracking. Part of dashboard covering could break loose right above airbag assembly during airbag deployment causing severe injury to passenger. Acura should replace entire dash covering under warranty as soon as possible.

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Acura Tl. The contact stated that the dash enclosure housing for the front passenger side air bag was fractured. The contact stated that the fracture traveled from the dashboard to the windshield. The contact stated that the failure was only evident on the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.

The dashboard, in the areas of the front passenger-side airbag, if beginning to crack. Due to the crack appearing in a straight line, seeming to outline the airbag located under the dash, I believe it to be a defect with the airbag. I have contacted my local Acura dealer and am waiting for them to notify me regarding "next steps. ".

My 2006 Acura Tl dashboard cracked after bad snow storm here. There are many cracks and the deepest is vertical alongside airbag. Acura is not standing behind their product and not correcting defective parts. The vehicle was stationary just never exposed to frigid weather. The car is not safe to drive not knowing when and if airbag will deploy.

Dash started to crack at the passenger side airbag on the right side. I believe this is a safety concern since it has become weaker on one side than the other. The crack has started to travel towards the windshield and a little bit towards the grove box compartment. It happened overnight while the vehicle was stationary.

Several large cracks have developed on the front dash board. This include the areas in and around the part of the dash that cover the passenger side air bag. I have used no type of cleaner that would have caused this issue and have not been involved in any serious crashes. A search online shows a large number of vehicles of this make and model with similar issues.

There is a crack right on the edge of the passenger side airbag in the dashboard. Acura will not help cover the cost to fix it. It appeared out of nowhere. My car only has 75,000 miles.

A large crack has appeared on the dash panel covering passenger side airbag. I fear this will get in the way of deploying passenger side airbag in an emergency situation and/or potentially generate dangerous shards. This seems to be a known problem when I visited the Acura service department earlier today, but they have so far refused to advise me on a suitable course of action. My car has never been in an accident and has been very well taken care off, with most of the driving being limited to surface streets and always being garaged overnight.

Cracking of the Acura Tl dashboard may present a safety hazard with regards to passenger side airbag deployment. The cracks appear to emanate from above the airbag canister and extend for the entire width of the dashboard. The cracks may impact the deployment of the airbag by opening in the wrong direction or too quickly due to the reduction in resistance of the dashboard. The cracked portion of the dashboard may present a safety hazard if it detaches during airbag deployment. Manufacturer should provide test and/or computational simulation data to verify that the reduction in dashboard integrity does not impact airbag deployment or create the potential for dangerous fragments.

My dashboard has two long vertical cracks directly over the passenger side airbag. This is a known issue with this vehicle as noted by the numerous complaints received. The car has been garaged continuously since I have owned it over 7 years. There was no accident or incident to cause the cracking. It is a serious potential airbag safety issue. Acura does not want to address the issue despite a multitude of complaints. My wife will no longer sit in the passenger seat due to fear for her safety and possible airbag deployment.

The dashboard has a crack in it on the passenger side about where the airbag is located and the scoring is for the airbag deployment. The car is in excellent shape. Has spent most of it's life in a garage. Only has 85,000 miles on it and is detailed twice a year. There is no excuse for this. I am concerned that besides being a horrible cosmetic defect that it actually creates a safety issue for the proper deployment of the the passenger-side airbag. A simple search online will show you that this is not an isolated incident and must be a defect that Acura should repair or replace.

Takata recall and electrical system: air bag deployed right side of car electrical system malfunctioning right side before the crash. Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Acura Tl. The contact stated that soon after a recall repair for NHTSA campaign number: 16v061000 (air bags) was done, the contact took the vehicle to the don carlton Acura dealer (918-664-2300, located at 4905 s memorial dr, tulsa, ok 74145) for a check-up and the technician diagnosed that the driver's side air bag needed to be repaired. There was no warning and the contact was told that there was no recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. Fe.

The contact owned a 2003 Acura Tl. While the vehicle was idling at an intersection, it was rear ended by another vehicle. As a result, the contact's vehicle rear ended the preceding vehicle. Due to the crash, the driver's seat collapsed into the back seat and fractured into two pieces. The passenger side air bag deployed, but the driver's side air bag did not. The driver's side air bag was just replaced eight months before per the takata recall. A police report was filed. The contact received medical attention for cuts under the right knee and also x-rays for his right shoulder, which located a torn right rotator cuff. Surgery was required. The vehicle was towed to an independent holding yard. The vehicle was deemed destroyed. The failure mileage was 190,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Takata recall in March 2016, I received an official recall notice regarding takata airbag on my 2012 Acura Tl from Acura International. The letter stated that the "fix" would be available summer 2016. Summer has come and gone with no notification that part was in stock at dealership (mike harvey, burlingame CA). In the meantime, I have bought a new car and am trying to sell my Tl. I have been told point blank by potential buyers that they either aren't interested or are offering significantly less than my asking price because airbag has not been resolved. After a week of conversations and run around with both the dealership and Acura International, I have been told there is nothing that can be done and that no one has any idea when to anticipate the part being available. What I was told (as a sidebar by Acura service department) was the airbag in question is actually the driver side airbag and it could pose a risk until fixed that should be mentioned upon selling the vehicle. At this point, it is 6 months past the original date of notification of the recall. I am essentially being prevented from selling my car at a fair and reasonable price because Acura cannot fix the problem and I now have to question the safety of driving the vehicle in light of the information the service department inadvertently shared with me. Bottom line, I just want Acura to resolve their problem in a timely manner (whatever that is 6 months later) so I can proceed and sell my car. I have already purchased a new car and don't really want 2 cars to be dealing with. Anything you can find out and resolve would be greatly appreciated. Dashboard has developed cracks that cross the passenger side airbag and may affect deployment. Crack is growing noticeably every week so should eventually cross the airbag and dashboard completely. Drivers side has more cracks but there is no airbag there.

The contact was afraid to drive the vehicle due to a possible air bag rupture. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics who all stated that the air bag could possibly deploy. The dealer was notified, but the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000.
