Takata recall- passenger roof, seat and side airbags deployed when I hit a curb on the drivers side. How can this be? I have a 2008 Acura Tl. It needs to be considered in the recall. Upon the above mentioned, the passenger side dash has separated from the front passenger frame. This is very dangerous and could separate while driving. All of the damage is on passenger side and not on the drivers side where the impact was. Currently I do not feel safe in the drivers side if the airbags malfunction like that nor can I have passengers in my car. This airbag recall needs to include some 2008 models that are not showing at this time.

Major cracks around passenger side airbag on 2004 Acura Tl. Apparently thousands of other Tl owners are experiencing this defect. The cracks appear to affect the airbag functionality. Quotes in terms of replacement are around $1800. However, this is happening not due to owner error or fault, but rather to all Acuras, garage stored and otherwise.

I have a 2006 Acura Tl and just recently a large crack appeared in the dash above the passenger side airbag. I was not driving at the time and I have not been in any type of accident for this to happen. I went out to my car one day a there it was, a large crack right above the glove box to the windshield. It has gotten bigger since I first saw it in October 2015. I can see the white of the airbag through the crack in the dash. My safety concern is if I were to get in an accident with someone on the passenger seat, will the airbag deploy correctly. Not only is this a safety concern in my eyes, but there are hundreds of other people with the same problem on their 2004-2006 Tl's. There is a facebook page that has started because of the amount of claims. I also have to complain that now there is damage to the interior of my car, I have lost value in my car. I can't sell my car for what it's worth with the dash in the condition that it's in. I take very good care of my car and this is something that shouldn't happen to a "luxury" car. I think Honda corp should put out a recall on the dash of the 2004-2006 Acura Tl's, or at least offer help with the cost.

Son was driving through a parking lot at about 5 mph, went over a drainage grate & the passenger side airbag deployed, breaking the windshield. There was no damage done to the outside or underside of the vehicle. Vehicle is not on airbag recall list.

Dashboard is cracking exposing the passenger side airbag.
Dashboard on 2008 Acura Tl is cracked near the passenger side air bag. The manufactures of Acura claims this is not a safety issue. They are well aware of this defect as it is a problem with several models. This defect could effect the deployment of the airbag due to the fact this area is now being exposed to environmental elements. Please see photo attached below.
Within 12 hours of being parked in the drive way over night, a crack appeared in the dashboard around the passenger side airbag. It was not caused by any trauma or impact. I am concerned that the alteration in the structure of the dash will affect the deployment. It may also allow further compromise to the internal components by being an open system. Furthermore, I am concerned that this is a result of increase in pressure internally as opposed to a dash defect. Could this lead to a spontaneous deployment? this year model is not included in current airbag recalls. Those recalls do cite high humidity areas as a source of concern and I am definitely in a high humidity area (90-100% routinely).
Dash board crack over passenger side airbags. Many cracks have formed and I am not sure if it has affected the airbag system.

While stationary, a hairline crack appeared in the dashboard on the right side of the passenger side airbag. Over the next couple of months the cracks expanded and on all four sides of the airbag, and now the dashboard has large cracks with a wide gap along the length and width of the dashboard. Moisture can get in and do further damage as well as creating the risk of faulty airbag deployment which could lead to injury or death.
In June 2015 a light suddenly came on the dashboard when I turned on the ignition indicating a problem with the front passenger side airbag. I took it to my Acura dealer who said it malfunctioned and had to be replaced. It was replaced and I was charged $753. 84. I asked if it was never used how could it malfunction and why did I have to cover the charge. In November 2014 the front airbags were replaced by the dealer at no cost to me. Since your agency is looking into side airbags, can I be reimbursed for my payment of $753. 84, and if so, to whom do I make this request? do I need to have any other airbags replaced in my car?.

The contact owns a 2004 Acura Tl. The contact stated that the front passenger side air bag housing fractured along the lower section of the dashboard. The contact was concerned that the air bag could deploy independently. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
Only 43,300 miles and my dash produced a massive crack extending from the windshield vertically downward across the passenger side airbag today. Well maintained car with very low mileage. My concern is safety for my family. Airbag may either malfunction and not deploy or possibly deploy incorrectly in the event of an accident. Acura needs to take action immediately. Tons of complaints for this issue all over the internet.

Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Acura. The contact stated that while driving at an undetermined speed the passenger side air bag inadvertently deployed. The contact indicated that during the incident the passenger side leather seat was severally damage and torn. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,000. Jft.
Crack in dash board over the passenger side airbag. I feel this is an extreme safety issue in that the airbag may deploy without impact. This should be repaired as a manufacturer defect. The dealer wants $2000 to replace dash.
Extensive cracking of dashboard cover, including near passenger side airbag which may cause dashboard pieces to become missiles in the event of deployment of this airbag. Acura has of this date not issued a recall or in any way that I know of accepted responsibility for this product issue.
I am the 2nd owner of a 2004 Acura Tl that I purchased in October of 2007. It has been a great vehicle with the exception of a recent defect issue. The dashboard has cracked multiple times directly over the passenger side airbag as well as over the instrument panel. It appears this is a common defect reported by several other owners of this year, make, and model of vehicle. I'm afraid the cracks may cause inadvertent airbag deployment which would be extremely dangerous to myself or any other occupant that may be in my car. I strongly believe Acura needs to step up and handle this safety issue.
2005 Acura Tl purchased with only 88,000 miles in above excellent (purchased from a Porsche mechanic) condition. The dash over the passenger side airbag started cracking around 100,000 miles and after reading all of the 'Acura forums' have discovered this is more than common with Acura owners around the u. S. A. Dash cracks anywhere near an airbag are more than alarming.
There are four long cracks developed on the dashboard that surrounds the passenger side airbag and above the driver side console. We are concerned whether these crack will impede the functionality of the air bags.
Dashboard over the passenger side airbag split open, exposing airbag cavity. Dashboard is now further splitting and I am concerned that the airbag may be damaged by exposure to sunlight, uv rays and/or dust that may now enter the airbag cavity. Additionally, I am concerned about safety and additional debris caused by the split airbag cover in the event the airbag does deploy. I have tried to discuss this issue with Acura, but they have declined to repair the dashboard.
Driver side airbag went off while driving.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Acura Tl. The contact stated that the dashboard had deteriorated around the passenger's side air bag area . The dealer diagnosed that the failure was due to sun damage. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. Ne.
A small crack developed on the dashboard on left side of the passanger side airbag. Over time, the crack has grown and another crack has developed on the right side along the passanger side airbag. Both cracks are of equal length running from the top of the dashboard down past the airbag. This definitely looks like a recall issue or Acura needs to pay for the part to be fixed and/or replaced.
A small crack developed on the dashboard on left side of the passanger side airbag. Over time, the crack has grown and another crack has developed on the right side along the passanger side airbag. Both cracks are of equal length running from the top of the dashboard down past the airbag. Now there are more than 6 cracks on the entire dashboard and they are progressing in all directions everyday. Rapid progression of these cracks (specially the ones around the passenger side air bag area) makes me very uncomfortble driving around this car. If the dashboard is not replaced immediately, this air bag could deploy pre maturely and cause serious harm and/or injury and/or death of my family member. This definitely looks like a recall issue and Acura/dealer needs to pay for the part to be fixed and/or replaced.
One day I was driving in my 2006 Tl with my son and he asked me about the crack in my dash on the passenger side airbag. I was blown away by his question. I did not expect this from Acura at all! I was completely surprised, I keep my windows covered with a sun guard. It starts at the windshield and follows the airbag directly. I feel this is unsafe since it is at the airbag. It does contract and expand as the weather.
Cracked dash board right over the passenger side air bag. Very unacceptable for this type of car and a huge safety concern.
Dashboard has cracked directly over the passenger side airbag. Car is stored in a garage daily and out of excessive heat/cold year round. Steering wheel cover over the driver's side airbag also has cracked. Both cracks show visible outline of the airbags. Addressed the steering wheel crack with the fairfield, CA dealership where car was purchased and was told that I needed to have the airbag replaced at a cost of $1,500 dollars. The issue was part of the airbag housing. If that's the case, wouldn't this be a safety issue and not cosmetic? especially because both cracks are directly over the airbags?.
Within a 24-hour period, numerous cracks appeared on the top of the dashboard. Most noticeable are two cracks that outline the portion of the dash that covers the passenger side air bag. My concern is that this condition will affect the operation of the airbag and its deployment when activated in a crash. This condition could be a danger to the passenger.
There is crack on the passenger side airbag cover of my Acura 2006 Tl car. I notice the crack on April 20, 2013. Now, tt becomes much larger and longer. I believe that this is a manufacturing defect and a safety issue. I am afraid that the airbag will come out of this crack and hurt people.
The dashboard has cracked over the passenger side airbag. The crack is over 12 inches long right above the airbag. This crack will affect the airbag and needs to be fixed. There are thousands of Acura Tl's with this same issue. I now recently noticed other cracks throughout the dashboard. Honda needs to take care of their customers if they want continuous business!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Acura Tl. The contact stated that after entering vehicle, before turning vehicle on, the side air bag on the driver side deployed. The contact sustained concussions in the left shoulder and the contact was numb on the left side of the back up to the spine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the driver air bag in the steering wheel but did not inspect the side air bag. The cause of failure for the side air bag was not determined. The failure was reported to the manufacturer. The failure and current mileage was 45,000. Yn.
Crack on dashboard on passenger side airbag. There has been no accident. Dealer will not fix it as there is no warranty left.
Cracks have developed in the dashboard. Approximately 10 inches along one side of passenger side air bag. I am concerned this will affect the air bag. Also cracks on driver side dash.
While driving we heard a loud pop that sounded like a very large rock hit the windshield. While inspecting the windshield we noticed that the noise had come from the dashboard splitting. The area covering the passenger side airbag has split and the entire dash, withing just a few days, has split from the initial 4 inch split to about 8 inches. I am concerned that this could affect airbag deployment as the decreased resistance could mean the airbag deployment speed is greater. (worth noting: we purchased this car new and it has been garage kept its entire life. Also, when the car is in the sun I always use a sunshield. ).
One day I got in the car and noticed a crack on the dashboard along the passenger side airbag. Since then it is beginning to spread.
Dash separating around passenger side airbag.
