Front Air Bag Problems of Acura TL - part 1

The dashboard on my 2004 Acura Tl has recently started to crack, starting small and growing in several places. Checked Acurazine website to find over 44,000 like complaints. Most start above the passenger airbag starting from the windshield to the top of the glove compartment.

My 2004 Acura Tl has a crack on the dashboard that outlines the airbag. The crack appears to get longer and diverges in other directions over time. I am worried that if the air bag was to deploy, pieces of the dash will come flying to the car's inhabitants and may also potentially alter the trajectory and velocity of the airbag. Dashboard is cracking on passenger side where the airbag releases. Feel this may be a safety issue. In a matter of one week went from no visible crack to approximately four inches long and then to twelve inches long. Acura will not replace as vehicle is out of warranty.

2005 Acura Tl base navigation dashboard cracking on passenger side and in speaker area. Car has 88000 miles on it and this is not the quality I expect from Acura being a loyal customer for years. Possible safety hazard to passenger if airbag were to deploy.

I have a 2005 Acura Tl, and the dash has cracked in multiple places, including areas around the airbag. This concerns me for my safety and I know this is a well known issue with no solution as of yet. I dont see how there hasnt been a recall on a part that is known to be defective and also very dangerous if the airbags ever deployed. . .

I have an 2004 Acura Tl with cracked dash on multipile location including one next to the airbag which could be could be a safety hazard. There is even a face book group "Acura Tl defective dash" with hundreds of Acura Tl owners experinencing the same problem, but Acura/Honda is not willing to do anything about it.

2004 Acura Tl. The interior dash suddenly formed cracks forward of the steering wheel and over the passenger airbag system. My concern is that the cracked dash will impact passenger airbag deployment in case of an accident. I purchased an extended warranty for the car through Acura when I purchased the car in 2004 which is still in force. The local Acura dealership claimed the dash replacement was not covered.

My 2004 Acura Tl has developed a large crack around the passenger side front air bag in the dash. This was at one time a completely sealed unit. The concern is that if there were to be a deployment, that either the deployment will not happen, incorrect deployment because of the seal being defective, or the cracked portion of the dash flying off and injuring or killing a person if deployed.

My Acura Tl 04 dash started cracking and spread quickly like a disease. The cracks are all over my dash, right left - to top - over the speakers, passenger airbag, etc. For this expensive of a car this is ridiculous! I cannot believe there is not a recall and for cracks all around the airbag, I would think that would be a safety hazard! Acura should be doing something about this!.

2005 Acura Tl dash seems to be very defective. The crack occurred over a months time. The crack is from the passenger windshield straight down over the passenger airbag. Estimated crack measures about 2cm wide. If you look at the crack and the other complaints regarding this we all have the same concern, which is the airbag. At some point the crack is going to continue to get larger, wider and will effect the passenger airbag if it is not directly affected now. I purchased this vehicle for my 16 year old daughter due to the safety it had such high ratings on. This crack would not be so much of a concern if located somewhere else on the dash, but again it is directly over the passenger airbag. If everyone else is having this crack in the exact same location, it is very concerning that something was not put together as it should be and it should be an obvious recall. We should not wait to see passengers getting killed due to malfunction airbags or due to the dash to fix this recall.

This complaint is in regards to 2004 Acura Tl dash boards cracking in the area of the passenger airbag. My car with 94k mile dash cracked yesterday perfectly along the passenger dash. While researching this online I see that several people have complained and have pictures of the exact same issue which can possibly be hazardous if the airbag deploys.

Significant crack in dashboard where passenger airbag is located. Started as a small crack but propagated to over 1 ft length within 48 hours. This appears to be a recurring issue for many Acura Tl 2004-2005 models (and possibly other years). Fear is it could pose an airbag safety hazard by affecting the integrity and performance of the passenger airbag.

I own an Acura Tl 3. 2 2005 with 51,700 miles. This morning my dashboard cracked in 5 different places for no reason. There was no collision or vandalism involved. I am concerned for my safety as I do not know the consequences of the airbag deploying and the dashboard cracking and debris causing injury. Called Acura corporate and they claim is not a manufacturing defect (this issue has been reported by hundreds of people in various internet sites such as facebook) Acura prides themselves on car safety but at the same time they will not take responsibility on this issue.

I have a 2005 Acura Tl that has several cracks across the passenger airbag. When I noticed this problem earlier this year I searched google for the problem and found some very displeasing news that this has happened to a lot of other Acura owners and Honda/Acura does not seem to care. For a luxury sports car with the luxury price that we all paid this is unacceptable. I love my car but this has devalued my car. The question is would I ever buy another Acura since they don't seem to care.

2004 Acura airbag cover on dash has cracked open on both sides of airbag. Afraid airbag will deploy randomly. The crack started small but has grown to almost the size of the dash car is garaged and dash covered in sunlight. Acura does not seem to want to acknowledge the defect.

I love my Tl but I am totally disappointed with the dash on my 2004 Acura Tl. I have had cars that had similar dashes and they never cracked! this dash has already cracked in 3 places. One crack runs from the windshield to almost the top of the glove compartment. This one makes me uneasy every time I drive the car because it runs alongside the passenger airbag. The other cracks are smaller but nevertheless they are there. I don't think this is acceptable for a car I paid so much for. Acura needs to step up and recall these cheap dashboards.

My dash is cracking at a accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, now over driver side. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? the should get some serious safety considerations.

2004 Acura Tl severely cracked dashboard on the passenger side. I have 2 vertical cracks on the passenger side of my 2004 Acura Tl. The cracks were not gradual they both happened suddenly overnight. I have not had any accidents or collisions that may have caused this defect and am realizing that the problem is quite common amongst 04 Acura Tl owners. From pictures on online forums the cracks appear to be identical in all cases.

Dashboard on my 2004 Acura Tl is cracking around the airbags, feel very unsafe about it being deployed. Acura has mentioned on the phone it is not their problem. However after reading various other owners complain about the same issue this is not a one thing, this is a defected automobile and I will not have my children or my wife or anyone that rides with me in that car sit in the front seat.

My 2005 Acura Tl as well as my fiance's 2004 Acura Tl have developed dashboard cracks in exactly the same places around the passenger airbag. I'm very concerned for the airbags exploding unexpectedly due to this as it seems pressure in the airbag is pushing up the dash. We've found numerous other Tl owners having the same issue. Acura is reluctant to deal with the problem and quotes well in excess of $1000 just for the labor to fix a clearly defective part that may have serious safety implications.

I am happy that I am not alone with this hazardous problem. I own a 2005 Acura Tl base and my dashboard where the airbag is suppose to deploy has cracks in it. It seems all 04-05 Acura Tl models are starting to notice these cracks.

I own an 2005 Acura Tl bought 2 years ago from an Acura dealer,like a year ago the dashboard started to crack now it has cracks all over including around the passanger airbag im concerned this could make the airbag deploy incorrectly,I called Acura and told them my concerned but they dont share my opinion the only they could offer me its a 'goodwill' 40% discount on the part not the labor leaving me $1643 to pay for probably the same dasboard that its going to last me another 3 years.
