I bought the car yesterday and while I sitting in the car lot, after purchase, I was setting up the radio and hfl link. This took maybe 10 min or less. During this time a relatively new battery was completely drained. The hfl never even hinted at working to connect to blue tooth. I also have a 2005 Acura Tl this kept happening to. The dealer recently told me it's a known problem, but not a recall so inqoukd have to pay to have it fixed. Since it was really expensive to fix he suggested I just remove the hfl link. Which I did from the 2005 Tl I have. I haven't had a problem with the battery since. Now this same thing is happening to the 2007. I'm just wondering how long it will be before I have to replace this brand new battery from the hfl link draining it. I can't let the car sit for more than 3 days or it will be completely dead. I would like to have both my 2005 and 2007 hfl working. This seems to be an Acura problem and not just for a few cars.

By accident, I am able to turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition with the transmission still in gear. Campaign #10v364000 covers Honda version of my car, #12v573000 covers Acura mdx only, nothing for my Acura version of the Honda sedans.

Vehicle won't start after not being used for two days or more. It's been noticed since 2015. Battery was replaced 3 times in ten months. It's a safety hazard that Acura should be addressed/recalled. Went to my car mechanic to have it diagnosed and was told it's the vehicle's hands free module (bluetooth) that's been causing the drain. I checked online and found out it's been a major issue on this vehicle. Honda/Acura needs to recall this unit before it causes major accident. It is a safety issue that should be fixed immediately.
The contact owns a 1999 Acura Tl. When the gear shifter was in the drive position, the key fell out of the ignition. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 05v025000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,450.

My passenger side dash cracked around the airbag. This allows for moisture to get into the airbag compartment which degrades the passenger airbag. Acura refuses to replace. The vehicle was stationary and happened overnight.
The hands free link works some of the times I have to bump the plastic cover for it to connect to my phone, also the power steering pump and resovor leaks constantly and the Acura dealership will not fix the problem because the car isn't under warranty this should be fixed when you get the hoses replaced because of the recall I think it should be as well. Very dissatisfied how Acura will not address the issues with the hfl and the power steering!!!!.

1. Hfl lhas continuously drained several batteries since I purchased the car in 2008. Until recently I did not know it was the hfl until the Acura dealership said it's a known problem and it either needs to be repaired or removed. It's very expensive to repair, so I had it removed. I also just purchased a 2007 Acura Tl s and while I was sitting at the dealership inputting the radio info and attempting to connect with to the hfl link the battery became completely drained in less than 10 min. The hfl has not worked in the 2005 since I bought it and it does not work on the 2007 either. I have a separate complaint form filled out for that car. The dealership said it's a known problem with Acura Tl, but not a recall yet. It should be a recall. 2. The power steering has seemed to go out over the last 8 months and it has become difficult to steer. If I can remember there was a recall regarding the power steering hose for this model Tl. I believe it was repaired during the initial recall, but the Acura dealership refuses to replace the part again even though the same problem is happening again.
The contact owns a 2008 Acura Tl. The contact stated that the doors had to be manually opened using the key fob. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
Driving along and power goes out. As if pops out of gear. But do not hear a popping into and out of gear. Then all the sudden pops back into gear. This is dangerous. High speed and then power goes out.

The handsfree link stopped working in 2016. I consider this a safety hazard in itself since that was the main reason I purchased a vehicle with hfl. The battery then started dying when I did not drive the car for 2-3 days causing frequent battery replacements. It's escalated to where now with a brand new battery, if I do not drive the car in a 24 hour period, the car is dead the next day.
The vehicle initially ran into an issue where it wouldn't start approximately 2 years ago in 2015. I have had the battery replaced at least 4 times in the last 2 years. I understand that there is an issue with the hands free blue tooth causing an electrical drain on the car; however, still no recall from Honda. Despite the fact that I've had the car services at several different shops & have spent money replacing batteries as well as other components associated with the electrical, the issue continues to persist and there are instances where it won't start.
Engine shuts off while driving at about 65 mph causing the car to lose speed, hard to steer and hard to brake. I heard that there was a recall about this cars (Acura). With the same (switch) problem. Why my car is not included ??.
Audio stops working after 2-4 seconds of starting the car. Speakers pop and no audio.

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Acura Tl. While driving, the vehicle suddenly shut off. The vehicle was towed to springfield Acura(243 us-22, springfield, mo) where it was diagnosed that the main computer had short circuited due to moisture from the air conditioning pipes positioned above the computer. The computer was replaced and the vehicle operated normally. Approximately three years and 25,000 miles later, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to boardwalk Acura (6806 tilton rd, egg harbor township, NJ) where it was confirmed that the computer had short circuited again due to moisture from the air conditioning pipes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
My car sat at airport for approximately a week and would not start upon return. Got a jump and was ok for about a week when again it would not start after sitting in the garage for 3 days. I took the battery to the store for a replacement. He tested this 2 year old battery and it was perfect. I went on-line to search for this problem and the years 2004 through 2007 have a large number of incidences exactly like mine. The problem that the on-line audience has found is that over time a partial short circuit in the hfl (hands free link) module appears. This is clearly a latent defect in this module. I wrote to Acura customer service and their response did not address the specific problem. I got a "cook- book" response that I should bring it to the dealer for them to check it out. Is there anything you can do regarding such latent defects for out-of-warranty vehicles?.

I have. Noticed large cracks on top of the dash , some where my airbags are. What if the deploy? these cracks came out of nowhere and I feel they are hazardous to my airbags if they deploy.
I was driving home from work on a very busy street, driving about 55 miles an hour. It was dark and raining and my car completely shut down! no headlights, no dashboard lights and nothing was running. . . It completely shut off no hazard lights either! luckily I was able to pull off to the side. I pulled my key out of the ignition, then put it back in and nothing happened. I repeated putting my key in the ignition and it started back up. I was able to drive the car home. I pulled it in the garage and shut the car off. . . Pulled the key out and put it back in the ignition and it does not start at all. I know it's not the battery because it was just replaced a few months ago. When I tried it this morning, the dashboard and over head lights come on in the car. When I put my key in the ignition and turn it, everything turns off and the car does not start! help please!.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Acura Tl. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, an abnormal noise emitted from the steering wheel. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that there was fluid leaking from under the front side. In addition, the contact mentioned that the navigation system was defective. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was a crack in the power steering hose and the navigation system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware failure. The failure mileage was 120,000. Pam.
Found a crack on the driver side dashboard over the odometer. Car was parked was never been in an accident before.
The hands free link system in the 2004-2008 Acura Tl is creating a drain on the battery resulting in complete electrical failure of the automobile. The incidence of failure is most common immediately after periods of at least 10 hours of non-use or shortly after starting. As a result from this issue I experience this electrical problem for the past year, from going threw multiple batteries and being in the unsafe situation of my Acura Tl losing its power in a very busy intersection. This problem has been reported extensively on multiple Acura owner's websites/blogs and has been confirmed by the local dealership. Given the possibility for in-use electrical failure, a recall should be issued. Are we waiting for someone to be killed or seriously injured before a re-call is really issued?.
There is a drain on the battery. We replaced the battery. If the car sits for just an hour or sometimes a few days, it may not start because the battery has drained. We have had to jump it and trickle charge it multiple times. From searching the internet, this is not a new problem for Acura owners. Acura should fix this as so many cars are having the same issue.
Tl-the contact owns a 1999 Acura Tl. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage on the vehicle was 131,000. The VIN number was not available. Pam.
Tl-the contact owns a 2002 Acura Tl. The contact stated that the clutch failed to switch gears without warning. As a result, the instrument panel became inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 176,000. Pam.
Vehicle's battery drained while sitting for 2 weeks without driving it. Towed to dealer. Dealer diagnosed a battery drain coming from the handsfree link unit. Part was $350+. Dealer explained that the labor was $150+ whether they deactivated the faulty unit or whether they replaced it with a new unit. I opted for the new unit. Total bill was ~$800 which included ludicrous "dealer-compliant" towing company. Dealer also replaced battery at this time (under warranty because I'd had a similar problem 4 months earlier - however it was not diagnosed at that time as hfl unit). Car sat again for 1 week. Brand new battery is now completely dead again.
My brother was driving my car one then it all the sudden car just stopped when was going and bad part was it stopped in traffic he almost got hit it was scary. I got lots of problems with this car please help!.
The contact owns a 2008 Acura Tl. The contact stated the vehicle was parked, when it ignited into flames. The fire department extinguished the fire which originated underneath the hood. The vehicle was completely destroyed and towed to an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. Updated 5/13/cn.
Bluetooth module failed and remains inoperable. A look online showed that many other Acura owners have had bluetooth failures and at far higher rates than other cars.
On our Acura Tl w/nav 08, the battery has been replaced 3 times in 6 months. Finally feed up, took the vehicle to the dealership. $1000 later, parts had to be replaced in the nav system and both motors in the mirrors had to be replaced. The navigation system is what was causing the battery to drain and the mirrors on both sides would freely click and move at will. I think at a minimum, Acura should recall their vehicles and fix this problem and issue refunds to those of us who have paid to have their vehicles fixed.
